I was having a discussion about Tyla's recent GRAMMY win and this question came up: Who Won A GRAMMY Quicker - Tems or Tyla? The suggestion was made that Tyla achieved her GRAMMY in a much faster timeframe. I wasn't too sure that was accurate, more so because there's a narrative that Tyla just appeared "from nowhere" and just so happened to have the biggest song of 2023, Water - a narrative that is not true. Anyone that says that simply didn't know of Tyla, not that Tyla wasn't there in the industry. So I decided to test the hypothesis and figure out if it was true or not. This is what I found out...

Tyla is the youngest African Grammy winner of all time. Put respect on the name.
She's amazing all the way through, that Grammy win is for the ages and she is undoubtedly my favourite artist in the continent right now! Highest ceiling there is IMO
Tyla is the biggest in Africa right now ❤
Stop the cap. Let her shut down the 02 let’s watch. She is a up and rising star no doubt but not the biggest in Africa.
4:05 was the most beautiful picture of tems i have ever seen. such a gorgeous black queen.
Tems and Tyla❤Sounds like a great collaboration ❤❤😂❤
I Have always said everyone's journey is different. I personally just look at both of their journeys as individually their own thing.
100% agreed. What I love about both is that they are a great mix of talent and hard work. No shortcuts here
Yes definitely, and you know what's crazy, Tems was also called a plant at one point and time as well. It's kind of funny how everytime an artist has a big hit or even a streak of hits they're always hit with the 'came out of nowhere scenario'. Its kind of laughable at this point. 😂
I feel like many people have this warped sense of believing they know all the music out there to validate their 'plant' claims. It's almost to try and shame an artist to make them feel undeserving. Music is too vast for anyone to cover all blades of grass within it, and as they say "No one cares about your story until you win"
@@MJWemoto I definitely agree. I feel like people who say stuff like this are just biased and also want their own favorite artist to be at the top or stay at the top😆. I mean there's literally no such standard of how an artist should make it in the music industry. Like everyone has their own way of getting to where they want to be. ( I.e.) Tems and Tyla.😊😂💗✨️
Tyla has some connections. The fact that they made a whole new award category and tyla won? Too good to be a coincidence
No Grammy
No Cup
Just Jollof
Great video, tyla has released her album tracklist she featured tems
