Bought mine from a Walmart in 2004-05 for like 40 bucks. That was many college courses ago; many girlfriends ago; and many jobs ago. It’s literally been all over the world with me, sitting right here on my wrist. I was 22 when I purchased and I’m now 38, married with kids. All this time and now in 2020... I’m changing the battery for the FIRST time. Sentimental value? Damn right. Get this watch- worth every penny

Still have mine after 7 years of use. Finally had to change the battery since the brightness features wasn’t working due to battery dying. Plan to have it another 7 years +!

Just picked up one for $33 bucks at amazon this will be my beater watch.
I snagged one off the Bay for cheap - felt it was a must for my classic Casio collection, which I love as much as most of the "real" watches in my collection.
This is my first Gshock :D love it

My first G-Shock and I love it. This watch deserve an upgrade with tough solar power when I found out it has been out for 2 decades. I went to official G-Shock website to email them but it transferred me to Casio America website instead. I emailed them, then received their email and they said research and development can only be done in Japan, can't do in America. Of course, obviously but they transferred me to Casio America website? Don't make any sense. Lol I hope someday G-Shock would give a solar power upgrade to 9052 model soon!!
Whoa, that is a great move from you. If a lot of people keep buying this, maybe they’ll made it happen. But keep in mind, usially adding extra feature will costs extra cash. If they made it happen, I hope it would still be affordable!
That's true but you will get what you pay for. And it's a popular model like you mentioned in your video. Great simple review, by the way!
Nice review and this watch seem to have a bit of kudos associated with it because Benicio del Toro wears one in Sicario 2.
I used to have this dw9052 when I was grade 5 to grade 9.. it was like around 2006-10.. well I bought this model again in 2020.. feels nostalgic, its fantastic!! lol
well I wish there will be the tough solar variant in this model..
I only ever had the g shock red rescue watch and can confirm g shocks are a watch that LASTS. Ofc it’s all due to the processes it accomplishes which requires so little battery which in case of my red rescue; the battery life is STILL going. I bought that back in 2016….and it’s still going fine. This watch you shared here I just needed for my occasion where there’s a lot of water involved; and I’d much rather not use my Apple Watch. G shocks are cheap; watches that look good imo. Definitely a great unit to have. And the most affordable.
I have mine right now. It is so comfy to wear and looks very tough
these watch stands are really useful for solar models or if you want to display your collection of a shelf, how thoughtful of casio 👍
Compared to my GX-56BB-1, this G shock is small and compact, while they are actually have the same functions.
The mention at 2:19 about g shock watches that they still sell as originals, you’re forgetting about the GOAT. The dw6900. Still sold just as it was, originally released in 1995
I've tons of g-shock & casio in general. And I'll try to use all of them. This one hits my wrist often and I don't know exactlt why... but maybe It's perfect. I LOVE the smoothness of the strap, I LOVE the layout of the display, I LOVE the flash alert funcion, I LOVE it's alarm funcion adjustable for a particular day... (I've just setted the alarm for Monday... ), I LOVE to see the actual hour in Timer and Chrono screens and I LOVE the dedicated light button that give me the possibility to touch it in the night.. when I found myself searching for my watch left in the evening on the table while I'm on the bed trying to save my life not awaking my lovely girlfriend sleeping aside.

Yes it was ,and I'm going back to check out some more G shock models tomorrow after work,I also picked up casio,s solar powered watch,very cool and not heavy at all.

This thing is a G Shock. Pretty sure that is the best watch for the wrist. My Omega looks in envy when I wear this watch. I laugh to myself.

Unfortunately the old bands from the late 90s are no longer available (with the metal inlets). Looked way better.

can anyone give me a link of a nato strap for this watch!?
Nafiz Rashid the lug width is very narrow, just 16mm, so such a small nato strap would look strange on a watch of this size. Most people put nato strap adapters on their G-Shock watches so they can fit a 22mm strap. Do a search on AliExpress, there are plenty of them.

This model is very robust and delicate at the same time. I have two, a traditional one and the GBX I bought it in Brazil in 2019 and it cost BRL 250.00.
