florida cars are rust free, but got interior fade and crack, canada car got excelent interior but a lot of rust. My car got both rust and fade and crack
Lmao. Both can happen but yes in Florida we have the dreaded cracked and crumbling interior. Luckily some of these were owned by rich drs who kept in ac garage and now have sold them off
Peter, EC is for Economy and Rest is Residual Engine Heat Utilization. based on the manual, In EC setting, The function of this setting corresponds to the automatic mode. However, because of the air conditioning compressor will not engage (fuel saving), it is not possible to air condition in this setting. In REST setting, With the engine switched off, it is possible to continue heating the interior for about 30 min. (it will automatically shut off approximately 30 min. or engine coolant temp drops below 50C or if the battery voltage drops). Only works when the key in position 1 or 0 or removed. however, it won't be activated if the engine temp is below 40C of the battery charge is insufficient. I hope this helps.

Great video and thanks for your help. I love my S420 and some of the small things are frustrating as well. I'm used to wrenching on my own vehicle, but I don't feel knowledgeable with this car. Keep the vids coming. Oh yeah, I used a "Bluetooth Cassette adapter" from Amazon in my car. Audio quality is Ok, not great.
Recon DMV I did same thing and then I switched to using an fm transmitter but plugged into a cassette with aux jack. Basically I connect Bluetooth to the fm transmitter and then the sound goes directly to the tape. Quality is actually very very good. The Bluetooth tape I got from amazon was not that good. I can send you what I got if interested and I plan to do video on it I just haven’t had time lately since I have been working on my navigator project

Hey Pete, got several of these cars, my favorites are the coupes but maybe I can help you out with some opinions. 1. Sunroof/Headliner, I had same issues, ended up getting a set of complete package from donor car, easier, and cheaper. Plus the sunroof vents don't come off easy, you'll break them because they're brittle and won't be able to get replacements from dealership. (Mine's a S500, but ended up putting in S600 alcantara headliner :D) 2. Brakes & Rotors, up to you, I prefer stock myself. Aftermarket pads atleast, tend to squeak quite early. 3. New tires, Michellins are best ones still, but for a slightly smaller price Falcon's are actually very nice too. They're soft, no road noise, but wear slightly faster. 4. Exhaust, up to you. These cars can sound hella beasty but can be strange if you're going for luxury vibe. The rumble is unreal and enjoyable though. 5. Paint trunk and moldings. If you can spare the cash, get it done by professional, but if you're careful, you can do it as a DIY, I repainted my whole car brilliant silver (original color) which was very hard because of metallic flake. One thing to note, if your trunk is already showing those signs, next up your roof is going to do it, and then hood or fenders. So maybe save up for whole car if not doing DIY. 6. Spoiler, your personal choice. I prefer without, but they can look nice. 7. This is my favorite, get the Yatour 06, with bluetooth module attachment. I have it in all my W140's. Replaces CD changer plug in the back, plug and play, stock look. Just works. I have a video of it in my channel. 8. Xenon or LED, go with LED if that's an option. Xenons need ballasts, they're dangerous too (the discharge can kill you). They get hot, bulbs are expensive. Downside to Xenons/LEDS since your car didn't come with that, it might always throw a light bulb out on dashboard. Benzworld members have been able to put resistors or something to get that issue to go away. 9. Foglights, up to you :) 10. Let me know what you end up doing, conditioning the leather is a must. Leatherique is an amazing product I've heard.
Thanks so much for the feedback and filling me in. The crazy part is this was a while ago and decided to keep it mostly stock. I did end up doing led plug and play lights (not bright enough). Check out some of my newer videos. I'm actually taking my time painting the panels that need it and restoring the good paint. Most of the car is in amazing shape and I love driving it when I can.
don't try and paint the car yourself peter you are gonna open a world of hurt there, just save money up for it there is no rush after all and go to a paint shop no one can diy a proper paint finish
