I was too young and stupid to appreciate this genius when I first saw him in Cleveland in an earlier (half) life. Then I stumbled on the (rapidly popularizing) 2012 Amsterdam Metropole show. Then the three-song set from this show. Now =THIS=. And now I =know= I wasted almost 40 years of my life. Liv's =real= father is a giant of amazing range. From "Mammon" to "Mated," Todd is in a lyric- and music-writing -- as well as message-delivering -- league of his own.
This is so unreal and a small piece of Todd's truly amazing career. What a gift this man is to the world! He needs to be in the R&R HOF Immediately!!!!
I have seen Todd about six or seven times in my life. Boy do I wish that I would have seen this concert. This is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes.
the band and singers are ridiculous. the energy, they're tight, those vocals - they are all committed. I want this on DVD! I was young when Todd came on to the scene. I only knew "hello its me". Thanks to Live from Daryl's house, I discovered Todd Rundgren. I've been obsessed since. Then I watch the Utopia reunion. His range of music and musicianship, never mind vocals, arrangements, sorry I'm going on and on!!
I discovered this phase of his career on the television show Night Music in 1989...I am very thankful that happened. I highly recommend checking that out on UA-cam btw.
One of th best live shows I ever seen. Maybe Todd on his peak. And the band? They sound absolutely perfect. Very well balanced, compact, full of nuances. And they get fun! Wow, pure hapiness!
Todd Rundgren , You are LOVED BY MANY , still after all the years , I still need me a whole a lot , Todd Rundgren, Many Great Memories of Your songs , You are a genius, and I might add you do not look your age , Anything you touch has Midas touch, accents on it , Sending Love Forever
The ultimate musician....as Dylan says "you got to keep moving on" applies directly to Todd. Who takes more chances than him"............NO ONE!!!!! We are all blessed to be fans of his. Thank you Todd
Nearly Human was an amazing comeback, tons of great material here.. Just got to Parallel Lines, dear lord. Plus the great Lyle Workman.. Thank you very much!
I'm waiting for Todd to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame! And waiting and waiting.........he is and always has been a wonderful musician and song writer! Love you Todd!
Wish I had seen this concert tour. It is an amazing part of his very triumphant career. Can't even name my favorite part... although I am very partial to his dancing.
I was blessed to be able to see this tour. I have been a fan since the 70's and this is still one of my favorites. If we could just live by the words of the song Compassion we could be such a wonderful country. Good luck on the Rock and Roll Hall of fame you deserve this
He got in this week Venus and well deserved . Todd was huge with my friends and I during high school - the ' Couldn't I just tell you ' - 'Just one victory ' songs like that for heartsick teen boys . I found that I could not listen to too much of him because it was so romantic and emotional , it was doing me harm . I had to stick to harder stuff like Wishbone Ash , Blue Oyster Cult , Humble Pie , that sort of thing . But there were times when only Todd could cure my heartache .
Wow ... this was an amazing, fantastic performance. What a poet, singer--such emotion. Some of the most incredible tunes ever written. Sublime harmonies and instruments. Love it.
stunning ... saw TR/band several times .. absolutely phenomenal ... definitely a rock icon .. so happy for his (and really ALL) music & concert video ... it lives 4Ever !!!!
Saw this tour at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg FL...Wonderful place, Amazing show, one of the all time Best...What a band, Great singers! So glad to experience this live!! Going to see Darryl and Todd st Hard Rock Ft. Lauderdale, FL in July..Happy Birthday to me!!
My goodness , until I get the DVD..Thank you..I love this Todd Rundgren performance SO much, it's like I know all the "quirks" and with ALL my LOVE..I enjoy this over and again. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️Saw Todd in 2019, FANTASTIC show in NewBuffalo, MI
thank you, thank you!! so sorry I missed this amazing tour. I did however get to see some of his outfits in Akron at the Rundgren Radio event last labor day weekend. Those dresses on the gals were literally doll size and stretchy! The backup singers are beautiful and have amazing voices, love the whole band. Thanks for posting this :)
Glad that Todd's genius has afforded him the ability to still tour in whatever capacity he wants. That can't be said for some of his peers who don't have a major label or royalty checks. Nice too that he's loyal to Kasim, Prairie, and Jesse...
Just saw him give a free concert in L.A.. Lot's of deep cuts, the usual hits audiences crave, and he sounded better than ever.. Back up band has been Kasim Sultan, Prairie Prince, and Jesse Gress pretty consistently since Liars tour, yes ?
Yes he sounded pretty good when I saw him last in Napa ca. Yeah he had the same line up plus the keyboardist from the Liars tour who's name escapes me...
Todd had stage presence he could sing play n create a continuous flow of material that spanned over decades😂 This band makes a live show a visual Utopian experience❤
Both rounds of this tour were golden memories. I've been attending Todd shows since Ra, and the full entourage and energy of Nearly Human was just incredible.
people told me for 30 years i had a lock on his voice, unforrtunately i did not have the disipline to gt to the other side. saw ths tour in canada along with others. great job TODD.
An Inspiration to me as a composer Singer of 17 HD music (One Man Band ) Videos on my Playlist .. thank GOD I was only 12 when I discovered Uptopia on 747 reel cassette for Sale in Arabia when on vacation. Then I listen to it about 100 times in my teens....especially the songs called Caravan...
He sold his Bearsville catalogue more than Michael Jackson or Maddona for some period in Japan. That made Rinno Record's business way more successful. In this concert, "I Love My Life" is pure perfection. Todd knows how to entertain Japanese audiences.
No song is stretched to fit a solo - Todd arranges more, when more is needed. Want Of A Nail is a poetical conceit behind which are a dozen chart points for the band to hit. Plus it's a pun about as naughty as one of Noel Coward's. The reset of Hello Its Me for rhythm, made into a shuffle, works great. Study of Todd is rewarded again
Did this show tour in the U.S.? If so, I wanna go back in time and kick myself in the ass for not being there, anywhere to see this live. Unprecedented brilliance!
OH MY TODDY !!!!! this is the I'm OVER YOU BEBE ! YOU GROUPIE !!!!! He and Michelle just got married in 1980 ! CRYSTAL Clear voice at his peak of the young Todd still singing and touring at 70 ! He's a Broadway producer at this point ! Literally , Artist in residence at Notre Dame ,Has "The Spirit of Harmony Foundation " for schools to put the arts and music back in schools !!! If you Love Todd give a few bucks to Spirit of Harmony.com . SUCH A TRUE GIVER he backs up what he sings about ! He DOES want to CHANGE THE WORLD !!! P.S . At his sexiest here !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✌🏻️✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
As a musician, wannabe songwriter (okay I am a real one, not a successful one:-) I like when Todd is more a "musician" instead of a bandleader. He has a very different and unique guitar style and is fun to watch.......he can play the damn thing too
The American Bowie? Remarkable differences in image and ethos from one era to the next. And save possibly for his 2012 show with the Amsterdam Metropole Orchestra (NOT to be missed), this incarnation was certainly one of the most intriguing after his =totally= different turn with Utopia. But -- like Bowie and the various incarnations of The Kinks -- the material is some soPHISticated shit.
The best Todd Rundgren concert ever, thanks to the female backup singers. Jenni Muldaur is the best. Too bad there are no shapely legs on any of them. They and the rest of the ensemble are great. Only Australian Pink Floyd has better female performers.
90 minutes of PERFECTION!! This band was so damn tight!!
I was too young and stupid to appreciate this genius when I first saw him in Cleveland in an earlier (half) life. Then I stumbled on the (rapidly popularizing) 2012 Amsterdam Metropole show. naughtmoses Went to Cleveland to see him. That was a 200-mile-drive. Todd is big on Cleveland
This is so unreal and a small piece of Todd's truly amazing career. What a gift this man is to the world! He needs to be in the R&R HOF Immediately!!!!
How is he not??!!
He says THANK GOD he is not in the RR HOF. He says if he is elected he will not serve!
Been to R&R Hall of shame it's B.S. !!!
I have seen Todd about six or seven times in my life. Boy do I wish that I would have seen this concert. This is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes.
This performance of "Mated" is by far and away my favorite of all the ones I have heard. He was definitely at the top of his game. Just Wow!
I agree. Mated was over the top, the best. What a band.
This must be the 20 th time I've watched this and am STILL AMAZED AT IT NO WORDS MAN JUST THE MUSIC🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊

as in ridiculously great! meant in a good way
Unbelievable I think or probably no words would ever do justice
I discovered this phase of his career on the television show Night Music in 1989...I am very thankful that happened. I highly recommend checking that out on UA-cam btw.
this show blows the roof off anything any thing for the last twenty years
Todd is genius...

I love how TR sings with his hands, I've always said "even a deaf person could enjoy watching this show".
That's his WIFE MICHELLE in the middle of the backup singers !
Definitely the best Todd performance ever committed to film.
Simply perfect and no flaws at all.
What a Rockin' Concert, and I've been to many, this one was One of the BEST of the Best

I was so glad I didn't miss this tour! The band was tight and sounded incredible! Hands down one of the best shows I've seen!
Truly one of the best if not the best Todd. Just amazing stuff.
WEEEEEE my heart feels free when I hear him sing his classics and more.

An American genius-just brilliant
Yes, it is fantastic - wish I had been there too...
Fantastic performance- wish I'd been there!
VHS of this concert.."still obsessed".. Wow, Love TR always
This was a funky little band for this tour! Excellent.

What a finale. I want suma what they got! Happiness and beauty.
What a band!
With Mr. Todd Rundgrens Music , He Should Be The President of the Rock and Roll House of Fame....

+qtrhserider You're Welcome.
Thank you so much, I saw this tour when I lived in Santa Cruz I think we drove to San Francisco area.

+Acoustribute I think you mean Vince Welnick, not Prairie Prince.
Yeah your right he hasn't played with him since around this time...
+Acoustribute Vince passed away several years ago and PP is still his current touring drummer.

His dancing at 48:17...! I swoon.

mesmerising
I’ve seen Todd and or Utopia 20+ times but somehow I missed this tour. It was a great one.
The "Blade Runner" opening ... perfection!

The peak of his voice 💙
What a hell of a show!
Ah!..the melodies! ...
thank you for this -
Todd is doing the Nearly Human set online virtually in March!
This performance alone should have put him in the HOF!
Love this soooooooo much ❤️

I bought this gem on VHS, when it was available..No VHS player. IT'S 2020😳
Study of Todd is rewarded again
this is smoking hot id say its his masterpiece
This might be his best solo youtube...some of the Utopia stuff is amazing on here as well.
He is a genius , his revisited samba like songs "With a Twist " album belongs to history , can anybody download this gem ?
Hawking…..perfection.
Todd at his prime❤❤
Awesome
Yes - 1990 was a FAB year for Todd Rundgren - he just got inconsistent after that ... See my on Facebook with me and Todd photo LOL
I mean my photo at Ram's Head in Annapolis
This was played on FM Tokyo and I recorded it on cassette. I should have been there.
The way he forms the Songs with His Hands is beyind Beauty. His singing, performing - breathless. Only thing. His haircut was a mess then

Is that snuffy walden on lead guitar?

Anyone have any idea why Kasim wasn't around for this tour?
+jbs428 Was he (Kaz) with Joan Jett then?
He`s stunning and his awesome musicians around him especially the guitar guy. Japanese audience was a little reserved. Ok it was 90`
Was that line in the beginning of Can We Still Be Friends improvised or did he translate it beforehand?
SARON It means WE LOVE YOU TOKIO ! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Any chance you can post it again the way it was released?

Who is playing drums on this ?
Michael Urbano, who along with Larry Tagg (bass) and Lyle Workman (guitar) are former members of the band Bourgeios Tagg.
