Really interesting video Colin, even a test train. Those 56s were certainly flogged to death on the coal and all of those 31s with that lovely EE sound. Thank you very much 👍
Thanks Darren and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. 33 years ago is a hell of a long time passed by but if my old videos still give people enjoyment that makes me happy.
Thank you for putting that up Colin. Brings back a lot of good memories... Much more interesting then than now, and of course that vantage point is long gone.
Good catch there with 47588 in Railfreight distribution livery, a recent repaint at the time, but no nameplates. Three months after this was filmed, she was named "Carlisle Currock", and, for fact fans, the name was also painted inside the cabs!
You can sort of get that vantage point from plat 0 but absolutly nowhere near that many freights or variety. I remember it being as good as this video when I was a kid standing there all day. You have great footage here

Thank you for your kind comment Graeme
Looking back at views before Frenchgate was built seems kinda weird now.

Thanks again for the info CS
The time stamp is useful as it shows just how frequent freights were - and all with Class 31 or 56 haulage!
How wonderful was the 08 with the 4 wagons and a guards van😎
Thanks Dave, it's a shame we don,t see workings like that any more on the main line. So glad you enjoyed the video.
