Trackside UK
Приєднався 19 чер 2013
Hi, the brand name for my channel(s) is Trackside UK and Trackside Europe.
I started filming with a large handheld camcorder back in the late 80's and all through the 90's before catching up with
the latest technology and investing in a smaller camcorder and tripod in the 21st century. Since 2011 i also started to
venture to Europe and have since continued to film both there and in the UK. Ofcoarse the covid pandemic has restricted
my options a little bit but it has allowed me the time to start the process of uploading my films for your enjoyment.

Since the site of Washwood Heath yard has now dissapeared unde the works of HS2 i thought it would be good to revisit what was one of my favourite places to film in the early 1990's. In this video we see plenty of freight with class 31, 37, 47, 56 and 58 and a rare sight of brand new class 156 bogies being delivered by rail to the Met.Cam.Works next door.

An interesting archival video Colin, thumbs up 👌👍 Greetings from Germany.Janusch 🙋♂:)
Thank you very much Janusch and have a great Christmas 🎅🙂Colin.
WOW Colin. Another classic from you. The 56 with the seacows being a highlight of so many good highlights in this video. Thank you again for sharing videos from this amazing time. 👏🏻
Well thank you as always for watching Ben and i'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope you're taking care in these wintry conditions mate, all the best, Colin.
Yet another treat for us Colin! Loadhaul Mainline and Big T all present at a fabulous Chesterfield where freights were plenty full. The 43's sounded amazing with their screaming Vallenter engines, they had such a distinctive sound! EWS 37 and 58 were amazing as was great shots of the 56/60's too. Really enjoyed this look back to 1997, cheers Nick.
Cheers Nick and thanks as always for the positive feedback mate. I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video just as much as i did filming it all those years ago. Hope you've had a great week so far Nick, all the best and take care, Colin.
As you say an amazing variety of liveries, locos and freight sadly now mostly consigned to history, so very glad you captured it!
Thank you James. Yes as you say the liveries were coming thick and fast, all during the transition from individual freight companys into the EWS umbrella. Thanks for watching and have a great week, Colin.
Thank you Colin for sharing these get bits of railway history. Take care this weekend if out and about, Mike.
Cheers Mike and thanks for watching, i'm pleased you enjoyed the video. Dunno about you mate but i think i'll sit this weekend out
Great done video Colin :)
Thank you very much Simon, i'm pleased you enjoyed the video 👍
I remember the grids doing this work. I think it lasted into the naughties. Good times 👍🏻
Cheers Ben i'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching 👍
Blimey, that jus turned my guts upside down and re-activated a whole load of memories lol. Coming from the spotter that had a lady loco driver once upon a time, this one in 56107 (i modelled) and 56046, was maybe the SF based one, or an IP driver, i cant recall exactly what Corrie said! Great to watch, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching DJ, i hope the memories weren't to harrowing 😆 I seem to recall talking to another driver on the platform that day who said she was an Ipswich driver but was not passed out for the mainline at the time. Anyway glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comments, it's much appreciated, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971 I see, thanks.
Great video
Thank you, much appreciated 👍, all the best, Colin.
More amazing content
Thanks James that's much appreciated. All the best, Colin. 👍
Well that was special Colin especially if your a Grid fan! Fantastic sector liveries and a great capture of the BR Green 31, that was a suprise! Noticed a nice lady driver shunting there on 56107 i didnt miss that one haha! Another great dip into the archives and i really enjoyed! Cheers Nick.
Glad you enjoyed that one Nick as i hoped the Grids clagging away would get people interested. Aa always i really appreciate the kind comments mate, thank you. As for the lady driver i think at the time she was a rarity behind the controls. Hope you're having a great week Nick, regards, Colin.
Nice images with trains, good work! Thumbs Up Greeitngs from Romania Andrew
Thank you 😊
Thuuuuuuuuuumbs UP !!! 👍😉
Thank you 👍
Great video Colin. Shame to see a 68 failing but at least you caught the working nonetheless. Keep warm mate as it seems the weather temp is dropping again so can't imagine what it is like in Scotland.
Yes very cold and more snow on the way if the reports are true. Thanks for watching Ben and glad you enjoyed it. Take care and keep safe, Colin.
I watch your video a few hours ago Colin, and what I liked was you did a lot of filming not far away from home. It was good that you stopped out to capture the return of the late train from Blackford which must of been a rare TnT shot for you up in Scotland. Have a good week as I believe the weather is changing again, Mike.
Thank you Mike and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. The failure of the 68 actually messed my plans up for the day, as i started at Blackford waiting for it to arrive in -3 degrees and i had planned to go by train from Dunblane across to the Edinburgh area to catch the Torness flasks but all trains were cancelled so i stayed more local. It's happened to all of us at some point i'm sure. Have a great week Mike, all the best, Colin.
Very nice footage 👍
Thank you very much and greetings from the UK 👍
I do envy you over in Poland - so many 'proper' trains, with a loco on the front, a great variety of freight and even your IC emus are smart, efficient and clean (to travel on) 👍
@@055deltic Thank you!
Nice video Colin :)
Thank you Simon, glad you enjoyed 👍
Good old ex Redshed 108 to the rescue bless it, naughty 68 failing Colin! Two great shots of them, Yet more good freight workings inc 70814 and 803, always good to see the HST'S looking as always very smart. Another gooden from you and really enjoyed, gave a great week ahead, cheers Nick.
Thanks as always Nick for the kind comments and i'm pleased you enjoyed the video. The failure of the 68 actually played havoc with my plans for the day but not to worry, it all added up to the entertainment. Have a great week mate, Colin.
Excellent film, audio/visual quality. Good to see the current motive power scene in Scotland. When I lived there, along this stretch, it was 1st generation dmus on the locals, Class 25/26 on the Dundee semi-fast and Class 47/7 push-pull on the InterCity workings. Good range of power from Class 26, 37,40 and 47 on the freight trains. Only HST was the daily Inverness - Kings X introduced just before I left. Thanks for filming and posting, I am already subscribed, so look forward to more!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed the video. I only moved up to Scotland 6 years ago on retirement but did venture up here in my youthful spotting days and also remember the locos you mention working the freight and passenger trains, happy days. Appreciate the kind comments and thanks for watching, Colin.

Great archive video again Colin. What a superb location this was and still isn't bad today. Surprised to read that Mike has never filmed there.
Yes Ben there can't be many places Mike has never filmed at.Thanks for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed that one.All the best mate, Colin.
Damn my comment has disappeared Colin! Another cracking dip into the achives again with lots of quality workings, if only it was like this now! Hugely enjoyed, have a great week ahead enjoyed cheers Nick
Thanks a lot Nick and glad you enjoyed it. With the weather being as bad as it is it's been a job getting out to film anything just lately so i'm happy thhat i can fall back on some archive films to keep the channel going. Thanks for your continued suport and take care.Best regards, Colin.
Another good one from the old days Colin, a place I have never filmed from, regards Mike.
Thanks Mike. It was a place ivisited a few times until they put the dreaded Palaside fencing up, after that i went on to Chesterfield. Best regards, Colin.
Great video Colin :)
Cheers Simon 👍

Oh Colin what a great place this was in these days, I think it was still good when the sheds took over as I remember one Friday night I was there it was like a traffic jam with trains waiting to get pass the station. Thanks so much for this upload.
Pleasure's all mine Mike and i'm glad it stired some good memories for you mate. I used to stay at the B & B down the road past the chip shop which came in handy after a few beers in the pub next to the station. Thanks for the great comments and take care in these icey conditions. All the best, Colin.
That was fantastic Colin! As you said none stop action there at Barnetby, it's always been a mecca especially in those days for good regular freight action. Great seeing those mighty type fives and a couple of 37's purring away for good measure. Wish it was as busy these days! Really enjoyed this, hope you are keeping well, cheers Nick.
Thanks Nick, yes you're right, it sure was a busy place but alas like most of our heavey industry it's been in slow decline for years now. Still, at least the steelworks are still in production for now. Glad you enjoyed it Nick, next one will be back in the Midlands. All the best mate, take care, Colin.

I like where you started this video Colin, but you did seam to have visited a lot of places in this video, some of them I have visited myself with you. Its going to get very cold up your way this week so what how you go, cheers Mike.
Thank Mike it's already hovering around zero up here so i will heed your advice mate. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope you have a good week. Take care, Colin.
Thumbs up
👍Thank you
Good video Colin :)
Cheers Simon, i'm glad you enjoyed the video, Colin.
Definitely a DRS theme going on Colin! Wow some tasty freights there and didn't let me down on some nice Redshed action, noticed the highland stag has sadly fled on one side, probably in the Glen's somewhere! Nice to see dual company traction on the RHTT working. Plenty of good HST shots around, always great to see them. Great locations freights and great shots enjoyed cheers Nick.
Many thanks for the kind comments Nick and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've been trying out a few new locations this month and the shot of redshed 150 at Hartswood nearly didn't happen as i only got half way down the ramp before it stormed through on 4S99. Must put my running shoes on in future lol. As always really appreciate your watch time Nick and i hope you've had a good weekend. Best regards, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971You too!
Great video Colin. Good to see an update on the Scottish scene. A few new spots for you as well it seems. Nice to see the Scottish RHTTs in action. All the best. Ben
Thanks for the kind comments Ben and as always appreciate you watching mate. Enjoy your weekend, regards, Colin.
Thanks Colin
Cheers Dave, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Well done great posting
Thank you James, that's much appreciated. Have a great week, Colin.
Nice video Colin from the archive :)
Thanks for watching Simon 👍
Stop spoiling us Colin. Absolutely superb footage from a location which is barely recognisable from how it is now compared to this video.
Lols thanks Ben. Sometimes i enjoy showing my archive stuff over the new as it gets a bigger responce but don't worry, the next one will be an up to date Scottish video. As always mate i appreciate the kind comments, take care, Colin.
The times I stood on that very platform as a lookout 😊 but it’s changed so much now.
Thank you for watching, glad it brought back some good memories.
Very good 👍🤝❤
Thank you.
Wonderful! I was a regular spotter at WH in the 70s and 80s. There was an industrial estate right along side the line that I used to park up at, I could watch from the car. 20s, 37s, 31s, 47s, 45s, 25s all regular visitors. Saltley TMD was right next to another industrial estate so was visited either on the way to WH or leaving. Happy Days!
Thank you very much for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. I only wish i'd seen all those 25s and 45s on Saltley and got to film them but alas i never started to visit the area untill the late 80's with my work. Still , i'm glad i managed to film what i did see then. Best regards, Colin.
Great bit of railway video..1-37 2-37 91 and HST at rear...Also nice handling of all our fragile parcels at 7.01 . Nice to see they were dealt with care think its still the same. 😂
Thank you for watching and commenting 👍
Great vid but can I ask where the electrified line on the above bridge go to? Not familiar with the area I’m afraid
Probably the Stechford - Aston branch connection.
Hi Dave firstly can i say thank you for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed it. Secondly as Downgrand1967 has stated, it was indeed the Stechford--Aston line, which was as far as i'm aware a freight only line. While i was filming below the bridge 90031 actually passed over the top with a freight. Cheers, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971 Cheers for that, have you got more vids in the pipeline?
At least 100 so keep tuned in 😊
I was working trains to there around this time, from Toton.
Great footage 👍
Thank you Steve, i'm glad you enjoyed the video 👍
