I'm about to order my auxiliary battery and change it myself, thanks to you. Can you believe a repair shop gave me an estimate of $937 to replace the auxiliary battery, while the Mercedes dealership suggested replacing both batteries? Thanks for your detailed video

Installed the auxiliary battery last night. The auxiliary malfunction display on the dashboard went away. I took a short cut, lol. I did not totally removed the panel that covered the battery. Many thanks to you. Great video!!!!!

Hey Wayne it doesn’t say on my dashboard that I need to change my auxiliary battery but the ambient lights in the rear up by the head rest don’t come on anymore, but all the other ambient lights come on I have tried to adjust them in the screen up front but nothing any suggestions?

Thanks Wayne, I have the same car and got to replace the same aux batt today. It was a great help watching your video. The metal scratch plate took a little more force than I expected to remove. This batt is a pain to replace! Unbelievable. I bought an “Aux14” from Pacific Power Batteries for $190 US, so your DIY video definitely helped me to save some bucks. I pulled out an OEM battery that had a badly corroded positive terminal (which indicates a leaky battery). I thought the new PPB battery looked superior to the OEM. Time will tell.

Thank you for your video post. However they did say that “some of the S550’s use the tiny auxiliary battery that is located beneath the steering wheel also” - this is news was news to me. Great video bro, I’m having a problem with my main display. I have a 2014 s550 and when I turn my car on the Mercedes logo comes on and stays on. I’ll turn the car off and then turn it back on and then my display is blank. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I already changed the aux battery but that didn’t help. Do I need to drive it for a while before the display comes back on???
A few things, you can try. 1) When the car is on, see if you can select Radio, Media, or Telephone button. 2) Try to adjust the display knob to the highest settings which means brightest. 3) Try hooking up a scanner to see if their is an issue with any of the modules in the car. 4) Take a micro fiber clothes and wipe the display like your cleaning it.
Thanks. The Aux Battery is for Distronic plus and etc. as well as the Eco Start Stop. It will not interfere or stop you from driving the car or starting and operating it. You will notice a few things that are no longer working.
Mine is bad as well. Never drive the car so I plan to get to it. I noticed basically all my functions on floor console are not functioning related to aux battery. Car does still drive fine if anybody’s questioning. Thanks Wayne! Great video
Great video! My 16 s550 recently started displaying ‘stop vehicle, idle engine’ and it would show a battery symbol underneath the message. Do you know if that’s the main battery or auxiliary battery?
The warning message typically reset in about 15 to 20 minutes. It could be the main battery or the Aux. I created a video on how to test the main battery. If you had a scanner that would be helpful.

Do not follow these instructions for the Cabriolet. After taking apart all the trunk liners, and the soft top organizers, it is NOT there.

There's no reason to remove anything other than the bottom piece, the chrome trim, and the carpet on the side of the aux battery.

You will need to get a scanner. That's the only way to see what's wrong and reset it.

I don't have that in my car but I would assume so. Just make sure if it's dead you change it pronto.
My magic body control works even though my Aux battery is giving warnings. Distronic doesn’t though.
