Today I went and tried out multiple watches, ranging from the breitling superocean II 42 mm, to the oris clipperton limited edition. I also tried on this alpina which I had seen many times on the internet, with an army green rubberstrap.
Honestly I fell in love with it when I didnt even want to. The 3d markers on the bezel are such a great feature, the caliber looks amazing, it's pretty detailed. Also the bezel action is the most satisfying I've ever felt.
Honestly I really wanted to get an expensive watch with a big name on it, but this watch is making it so hard for me to spend for example $4k on a breitling....
If you're looking for a good diver, I really recommend you try it on somewhere.

Just bought the green army bracelet Alpina too! Very good for the price! Do you still rock it?

I love this watch. I love that it is so simple. I don't like really "busy" divers.

Mine has been fantastic! Wear it every day since its purchase two years ago. The Sellita SW 200-1 movement has been a great timekeeper. Right now you can get some great prices on it if it's to your taste. I don't believe they make this model anymore at least it's not shown on Alpina's website . Sorry I realized the video is a few years old. Thanks ⌚

the wow factor is that they do not try to wow you. they let the quality speak for itself. how well is the movement tuned? how many seconds off is it per day? looks perfect to me if it is well tuned within 5 seconds a day.

The watch looks awesome. The clean uncluttered look gives it a feel of understated elegance. Looks nothing like a Seiko to me.

At least it doesn't look like a Submariner.

I purchases one of these recently and agree with the review overall. As far as fine details and fit and finish, it can play in the same sandbox with the Oris divers and others in its class. My bezel is likewise nice and tight and perfectly aligned. The AR coating on the sapphire crystal really cuts the glare and makes it "disappear." I agree that the Seastrong is a little bland to some, but the overall build quality that makes you want to wear it.

Private Idaho i agree. Plus the black friday prices of under 400 bucks made it a great pick up!

What's pretty amazing about Alpina are the discounts you can get on the grey or used market; the watches are incredibly well built, and you can find them way below retail (for about half the price or lower even).

Nice review! Constructive criticism, please kill the music in the background (when you are reviewing the watch). It is competing with your voice/review (which is why I watch your content). Thank you for your thoughts and all the effort that goes into being a youtube watch channel. First comment!!! :P Totally agree that it is a vanilla watch. I would rather have a Seiko Monster than the Alpina!! (and all the extra $$$ for different StrapCode bracelets)

Music choice was nice, but very distracting for a watch review.

Lol, you are correct. It was just loud enough to distract away from the review. If I wanted to listen to pop music, I would turn on the radio. But when it comes to watch reviews, I check out the Maverick Watch Reviews UA-cam channel :) It's your channel, do what makes YOU happy!! Either way, I will still watch your videos :P looking forward to the next one

I am not really into dive watches but my friend has this watch and swears by it. I am also fond of Alpina and I just picked up their World Timer. I travel a lot for work and this time piece is extremely well made and a good buy.

I'm surprised nobody talks about Panerai when it comes to design language of this particular model . It has been carrying some tinges of Panerai to me but I don't think this is a watch that's badly a botched up Panerai .Cushion style but looks cool. I'm considering one of these too

  • @tombry4480

I own a couple of Alpinas and hesitated at the seastrong too, I agree that it's a bit plain, and simples things like augmented 12,3,6,9 or different hand styles would add some simple, interesting touches. I believe the bezel lume is brighter because it's not attenuated by the crystal. NR coatings can diminish lume.

Found the black dial black bezel for around 500 bucks brand new. Placed the order tonight and ofcourse putting it on a iso

46 mm might be all right if you truly intend to use it as a diver, but how many of us actually do that. No we wear it to buy gas or groceries, perhaps expecting someone to rush up and exclaim what a great looking watch you are wearing! It is a great looking watch but don’t buy it to impress others. Buy it for quality, looks and comfort. 42 mm is big enough.

Alpina always have clean dials their pilot watches they make are like a modernised version of the old pilot watch design. All their watches have a very clean uncluttered design.

Another great watch review! Kinda confused why they went with a butterfly clasp and not a more traditional clasp with a diverse extension.

Their earlier design was awesome, it was called Alpina Extreme Diver, they changed the face and dial slightly to the SeaStrong, but take a look at the extreme, it had a very cool design.

swear to god. I once saw this model(maybe not this color) on sale in an 8th avenue store for 800 something australian dollar...at that time it's like about 530 usd...only 530 usd i mean that's insane. but i was a student and can't afford that...that was two years ago.

I think the power reserve is the weakness. It should be 70hrs for this price range.

    • @Slyma17

@@maverickwatchreviews 70hrs mean a manufactured movement, meaning a well higher price... For this power reserve, you should go to Swatch Group (Mido, Longines, Rado)

    • @tomherr5684
      @tomherr5684 Рік тому

Yea lol, it is (sorta) I have the Alpiner 4 Auto and it’s the same issue. See it’s really about a 45 mm case in most spots but there’s 1 or 2 that are 44. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 (I know…). So it’s advertised as a 44. In their defense honestly it wears like a 43. I seriously thought it was a 43 when I put it on (the Alpiner anyway) I don’t know about this one but I’m curious I’m considering it.
