We captured the Gothic Classic trailer directly on Nintendo Switch on a pre-release version that had additional graphic features included. Unfortunately, we were not able to optimize these in time and so we decided to leave them out of the vanilla release version. Our plan is to ship these features with an upcoming patch as soon as possible.
The Gothic Classic announcement trailer could need such a pinned comment statement as well. Will Gothic 2 Complete Classic also not feature the graphical enhancements shown in the trailer at release?

G2 and G3 also need a remake/remaster. I really hope that Alkimia nails it with Gothic 1 remake so that they can do the rest and complete the story.

@@guynamedstevo6581 disagree, it basically achieved what Zelda Botw did 11 years early and even more impressive. Its a huge sandbox rpg, I dont think its wrong to personally prefer more linear games but neither is superior to the other
I am sure that those graphic improvements (shadows, lightning, water) won't be in the release.

And they still dare to advertise it with the dx11 renderer which got cut from the g1 switch port without telling anyone. A false advertisement double whammy. you people really are shameless.
"It is just a mistake from our side. We needed to inform you about it, but in the changes list we didn't write anything about DX11 and we didn't promise to include it. It was enabled in the trailer and this is our mistake."

For someone who doesn’t know what DX11 and it’s significance is to this trailer, what exactly does that mean? Will the game not look the same visually on the switch, or?

@@zsc_ghost8733it will look about the same as unmodded Gothic 2 on PC. This is clearly a modded version with more advanced lighting engine.
@@zsc_ghost8733 it will look massively worse. You can look up G1 trailer and gameplay of someone playing. The easiest thing to notice is lighting, water, shadows and overall filter.

Don't be misled by the enhanced DX11-like graphics in this trailer. The port will most likely not feature any graphical improvements. They did the same thing with Gothic Classic.

before you bring the Gothic 2 port to the Switch... Please fix the bugs and errors in Gothic 1. And please take more time for Gothic 2. I think it's so incredibly great that you are reviving Gothic but don't make the same mistakes as Piranha Bytes did back then. Take your time!

Dear THQ Nordic. Thank you for bringing these fantastic games to the switch. I have bought G1 and played 15h so far. Its playable but theres a lot of work to do. Please improve the port and dont let the community down after cash is grabbed.
Im happy and grateful for these epic games to be playable on switch. But please improve the quality. It needed more time in the oven.

@@BetonBenni Nah, not even close. The world is dead in Witcher 3, it's static and does not change even after global events happened, it feels like a decoration, not a living breathing world like in first two Gothic games.

But nothing can beat the nostalgia of gothic 1 and 2 :)

@@timurkhodyrevExactly, it's better to delay 3 months and making the Switch version an exclusive for no reason, these patches should have been rolled out on PC on Switch release, because from my point of view THQ just doesn't give a damn and is delaying unnecessarily, well unless it's a small package for 20 euros. And after seeing the Gothic 2 trailer for Switch and THQ's moves in general, I am only even more convinced that you are just milking these games to the last cent.... exceptionally disgusting and I am honestly afraid of what the game industry will look like in the next few years because this type of practice is becoming more common.

Jeeeeeeeeessssssss this keeps on getting better first Gothic classic now Gothic 2 classic, you guys are super amazing. This is one of the best games on my childhood.
If they ever remake Gothic 3 they better fix that horrible, luck based combat mechanic with no invincibility frames.

@@Gigidag77 First one have a ton of small fixes and improvements, not to mention gamepad controls and new UI
Gothic has a super strong modding community. All patches and improvements are out there.

Danke das ihr Gothic Classic weiter updatet und nicht in diesem Zustand lasst, danke das ihr Gothic 2 complete für die Switch nochmal aufleben lässt und was ich persönlich noch feiern würde wäre Gothic 3 😅 Gothic Classic habe ich ebenfalls bei euch vorbestellt und bin wirklich zufrieden!
Um die Sammlung zu komplettieren wäre der zukünftige Release von Gothic 3 (auch gerne Risen 2) natürlich ebenfalls ein Träumchen. Aber ob das auf der Switch ordentlich laufen kann? Ich bin THQ einfach nur dankbar, dass sie dem Gothic und Risen Franchise so viel Liebe geben und da zahl ich aus Nostalgie gerne 😊
@@Harry-tj8of dem stimme ich zu Gothic war toll, aber Gothic 2 ich könnte heulen vor Freude immer noch das beste Spiel in meinen Augen, kann nicht sagen wie oft ich es durch gespielt habe. Und Gothic 3 allen Kritiken trotze, nach den patches war es fabelhaft!

It's good that they make a 1:1 port of the original and don't use the too bright looking and unfinished DX11 mod. But I don't understand why they make these false trailers. Instead they should use the improvements by Union.

@@zsc_ghost8733 Yes, that is the point. The game will look MUCH WORSE than in the trailer. Look at the trailer of the 1st Gothic's port, pay attention to water and lightning - that's the easiest part to tell the difference. Then look at the actual game on Switch. It's like a decently looking game vs potato version.
I still hope for a remaster / remake (only in terms of graphics) of G1 and G2.

Denn seien wir mal ehrlich das ist eine Gigantische Baustelle.
Quatsch, hab Gothic 3 erst letzte Woche wieder durchgespielt (nach Gothic 1 und 2) und mit community patch und parallel universe mod läuft das super selbst auf dem Steam Deck.
Für die Switch könnte das Spiel aber ggf. auch etwas zu viel sein

nope it's false advertisement. same as they did with the gothic 1 port. announcement trailer had the dx11 renderer enabled purely for hype as when the game launched it was gone.

When I discovered this game... i didn't go to school for 3 months. One of the best games I ever played.

Please not that game is only playable with the unoffical Comunity patch witch fixes pretty much hundreds of bugs and issues.

@@Brainman234 it kind od does because updating the engine would deal with at least 1/3rd of the issues with the game
@@DamianQualshy you're obviously to young to remember but they Developed the game in Germany and we're greatly rushed because at the time everyone started using newer more sophisticated Engines and they tried to do it. But it took too much time. And they had to rush everything else. From combat to skills to quests and actually making the last parts of the game fun and playable. Believe me 1/3rd of the issues don't come from the engine. The engine is not the biggest problem on that game. And definitely won't solve that many issues.
Go and check out the Community Patch and then we can come back and have another discussion about this :)

@@chrismartin3959 They released the Gothic 1 port with more bugs than in the original release. I can't think of a scenario where this would be different with Gothic 3. It would be great to have it on Switch, don't get me wrong, but imo the only way to enjoy this game will be patched and modded on the PC.

@@draxes2164all gothic games work very well on steam deck, so the „switch expierence“ is already possible anyway. I think G3 would be a little to much for the switch
