2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail Takes You Farther Into The Wilderness

- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- The all-new Lexus GX 550 Overtrail is for the buyer that intends to push their SUV hard off road, (or at least look like they do). There’s a long list of enhancements- a rear locking differential, eKDSS sway bar disconnect, off-road oriented tires, Multi-Terrain Select and a skosh more ground clearance. But Lexus also taketh away, there’s no third row in the Overtrail. In his second GX video, Tom Voelk heads to White Stallion Ranch outside of Tucson, AZ to get the GX 550 dirty and muddy. And for a little fun, special guest John Pearley Huffman Road & Track is Tom's co-pilot. Not God or dog. .
Tom attended a Lexus sponsored event to drive the GX 550 Overtrail. Opinions remain his own.

$75K for a rig this big with excellent capabilities doesn’t sound so bad. Huge windows give panoramic views. Looks like a winner.
I will take it off-road, this is what it’s built for, and why I’m getting it.
Lexus had a while to rethink this generation and they nailed it!
Tom, I am glad John Pearley Huffman referenced 7:43 the Country Squire as it is overdue for a comeback. 😁
😂
@@toronado455 The Bronco came back, why can't the Country Squire?
@@rightlanehog3151 The Maverick came back too.... sort of. 😊
💯💯💯
Fun fact- I owned a Country Squire.
I love the new GX tho. Wow what a home run. 😘
Big improvement on the GX and excellent photography by you!
Glad you think so!
LC500 And this GX are the most beautiful Lexus vehicles ever built
I appreciate you acknowledging that all the offroad features of this rig are way over the top for prospective American customers. But mid-level autocrats in the Global South will put it to good use.
3:00 I know you had absolutely nothing to do with this. But Lady Lexus there is RUSHING through it like a gun was pointed at her. Slow down hun. Dear god. Im anxious and its from her!
Why dont they hire someone like me. A person who is passionate about the brand. Give them key talking points and let them loose. I like that better than some PHD in marketing who rushes through having no feel behind what is said. Id argue she might not know anything if you asked her a question. So why are you here?
@@aurorajones8481 It's all just marketing nonsense anyway. So there's nothing to be understood. Just memorized gobbledygook.
🔥🔥Great Job Tom🔥🔥
Great video, loved the exterior driving shots
Really like this rig!
Irs are going to be available here in Australia 🇦🇺 by July 2024 , but the base model starts at $70K 😮
I love the new GX tho)))
I guess it’s impossible to do two-tone seats that look good.
Seems good for what it is.
Nice Review.
Can we test drive and purchase it now? Is it at the dealerships in the US?
The gas mileage ain’t much better than my old Jeep. 😏
It surprised me too
😂 Frank Lloyd Wright brother Dave?!
His sister Shirley did the landscaping
I loved it so much
But it is one-sided love because I can't afford it😂
I retract my first statement because after thinking about it am the same way . I do apologize
Lexus GX makes everything looks easy. The "nobody will take these brand new off road" line is really old and lame. We got ours new and went off-road and never stopped... they are unbiqutous offroad here in SoCal.
Your channel has definitely proven how tough the GX is and its intended off-road purpose. I have a 2020 and am so happy to have the V8. Great work BTW.👍🏻
Tom Just being honest!😀
Absolutely hate the frowny face front fascia on this Lexus.... definitely overwrought 😮
No spare? Or is it slung under the bottom?
Underneath.
Great truck but those polished spoke wheels are not attractive. Get the off-road wheels.
Red Light: dealer markup, dealer markup, dealer markup.
I truly despise the Americanization of Toyota products. I loved Toyota as is , which to me was perfection .
I totally love this thing but wow the mpg! This is as bad as a Hummer. Well if u can afford this you aren't worried about mileage, but I would be
Reading from note cards kills the vibe. Feels like the person knows little if the cards were taken away. Just record a video of this and show it to press.
I can get an international scout for 25k that can significantly out proform this off road, and if I want a luxury SUV, older used Bentleys which are waaaaay more luxurious and cheaper, makes this SUV nothing more than a status vehicle. I just don't get it 🤷
Don't see the appeal (as a daily driver) of something that catches the wind willingly and weighs so much and all trade-offs in handling (due to weight and higher center of gravity). I've got a car that weighs 2,000 lbs less, has a V8, and yet is subject to a gas guzzler tax even though it is rated for better mileage (EPA numbers).
I never understood how Lexus claimed to invent the crossover when their first crossover was a carbon copy of a Mercedes.
Huh?
@@DrivenCarReviews ML320 didn’t come first?
@@jamestg4 ML was body on frame. It and RX came out in the US at about the same time, but RX had been available in Japan as Toyota Harrier before that. So if anything, Mercedes copied Toyota's design.
17 mpg is a terrible gas efficiency for such a meh powered engine.
did you know the meaning of LEXUS?
Luxury Export to US (L-E-X-U-S)
Put it in geriatric mode .
🙄🖐🖐 looks like the new KIA
Journalist creeps listening to a marketing creep....creepy
Dude should trim his nails...
$70,000 to get terrible fuel economy, and drag around acres of sheet metal covering a concert hall of space and seats that will be empty 99% of the time…..it looks like a depressed ‘Transformer’….I wouldn’t be caught dead in one of these unless it was being used as a hearse….
The Lexus design language for the past year has really failed. This rig is hideous. The new TX is a bland box that Lexus threw a grille and badge on. As the owner of several previous and current generation Lexus, ciao to the brand.
Bye-bye.
AND QUINTUPLE KA CIAO TO YOU BECAUSE I WILL BUY A FULLY LOADED 2025 GX550 OVERTRAIL PLUS ANYWAY
Lexus won't miss you lol🤣
