- Alright guys I'm sure there are a lot of people who have issues with their distributors whether it's just a simple oil leak or a massive oil leak or maybe even a faulty icm inside the distributor. Well this video will walk you through the steps on how to replace that distributor. As always I hope this video helps some people out.
Hey dude! Great video! I’ve watched it 4 or 5 times now getting ready to replace the distributor on my 01 Lude. I’m a little worried about messing up the timing though. I know you mentioned it in the video a little but could you give me some tips on how to not mess it up?
The 5th gen’s are easy don’t worry about fucking up the timing the dizzy only goes in and out one way it’s almost dummy proof really 😁
Great video bro.
Thank you man 🙏
Awesome video dude just what I was looking for
Glad my videos could be helpful 😁
I swear my distributor fork isn't keyed and will go in both ways. Trouble shooting my crank no start 98 prelude. I think I put it in backwards and messed up the ignition timing, but mechanical should be good right? I set cylinder 1 to TDC, but maybe not enough degrees back because it only sputtered for a few seconds and then wouldn't start again, just crank. Replaced my external ignition coil, all the seals on the distributor plus the cap and rotor. Probably have to trace if its actually giving spark with the multimeter and what not. I did the plugs and wires months ago maybe the plug is cracked.
Make sure your plug order is correct
Hey I have a 99 prelude but it has a h22a swap what distributor would I have to use with the jdm motor or is it the same as us
If it's a jdm motor you have then it's not the same as the US. Depends on which h22a you have and the year it came from but most likely it's obd1 which means your crank sensor is in the distributor unless whoever swapped it swapped oil pumps and dizzys and made it obd2. Which then means your crank sensor is down by your oil pump.
thanks for this; what is the torque on the distributor bolts?
Off the top of my head I want to say it’s only like 25 really just hand tight you’ll be okay
You still have those 5th Gen taillights under the distributor shelf?
I have some
They are long gone man
@@Mygamefreaklife I already found a pair before I seen your reply, but thank you!!
Sorry, I know this is old. But can you tell me what you mean by your car would "bounce" with a non OEM distributor?
I have an issue, I just wondering if it's the same. Person I bought the car from replaced the distributor, he was real picky about OEM stuff so I assumed it's OEM. I'm going to try to check now. Also do not know why he changed it. Again he is a little odd and has a lot of cars and a lot of money. So...😂
Lmao yeah the rpm would bounce around on the aftermarket distributor it was real odd
What are all the tools you need ?
A Phillips screw driver maybe a flat head as well and then either a 12mm socket with the ratchet or 12mm wrench to remove the 3 bolts that's all you should need. However if you want to make sure it's 100% good you will so need a timing light but on an obd2 car it's not 100% necessary
How do you know where to put the wires if they come out
What do you mean? out of the inside or at the plug?
Is that the firing order? 1998 prelude
Yes sir that is the firing order for all h22/h23/f20bs
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks thanks
Anytime man!
@@HoustonSpeedFreaks so I took out the fuel pump, freakin thing was rusted. fuel tank inside looks rusty to. and debris. fuel tank change?
@@jbillie9569 ahhh damn man that sucks I'd say yes if you have the funds
that little piece that's in the distributor where the wires connect to how do you put back in ? the piece that looks like a chip
Inside it either clips in or is held in by a small Phillips screwdriver without me seeing exactly what you're talking about I don't know how much help I can be. Sorry😔
My prelude still won’t start
What's it doing?
