This is without a doubt the most detailed old western layout I have come across. I would love to see what you are capable of with a full basement layout. Just WOW!!
Thanks for your reply, I torn this down and have started a newer bigger and better railroad in the same roomhit subscribe because I am showing videos of the progress of the new layout if interested.
To all the people saying this is a nice layout, you are wrong! This is a SPECTACULAR layout. WOW! The layout tour is just wonderful. The tall trees, roof top details, all of it, just spectularly done. thanks so much for sharing this.
This is simply INCREDIBLE! I'm just getting into this hobby and was going to go with O-Scale, but after watching this video I decided to go with G-Scale. I purchased my very FIRST train: The Bachmann C-19 (83194). I'm so excited about this, and may be calling on you for some tips/advice. Thanks for sharing your amazing and inspirational creation!
Larry what a fantastic lay out your an inspiration to us all. Plus I owe you an apology I sent you a message and called you Al my bad. I am so looking forward to getting my layout started. Thanks for all you share....Stan.
+Jon Blakeney Thanks John. I made some how to videos and they don't seem to come up on youtubeHow to model pine trees, How to make corrugated sheet metal, How to make industrial lightsLet me know if you find them I cant THX
Have you any ideas on when you might produce a video in which we can see your Amazing Layout Operational ? Thank You for your time and effort in not only producing a beautifully detailed Layout but also a very interesting and informative video, Great Work, Well Done!
+TheAudiostud thanks for the flowersI am trying to finish an outdoor project and as soon as I get down I will have a video on that and I will put an operations video together
Hi Al, this is such an AWESOME layout!! What state are you in? I am just getting started in G scale and I want to use some of your ideas if that's ok? I really like how you have small sharp turns. See you make it seem possible to have a great layout without having long sweeping curves. The only thing that would make this video any better would be to have your trains running around the layout. Thanx for a great video, Elliot.
Nice layout. I've been thinking about a logging/mining layout myself. Mine will be outdoors though. A couple of questions is yours a point to point or continuous loop. What kind of radius curves are you running on. I'm just trying to get an idea of the space. My largest loco so far is a 55t 3 truck shay.
+CaseyJones thank you for the complementsI used the standard Bachmann track so the curves are 50'' rail to railMy layout is continuous runningthey say any Bachmann engine will run on there standard trackbut you will get an awful lot of overhanggo as big as you have space forIf I went outside I would go at least 7' on the curveshope this helpsthx
hey boys and girls it seems that a lot of my tags don't come up in all 14 videos. Some videos wont come up on any tag. If anybody knows how to correct this I would greatly appreciate it. I have looked all over you tube and nothing seems to help. Thanks
Awesome, Grandpa! I really enjoy modeling, but know next to nothing about trains. I love trains though. The closest I come to modeling trains is 1/16 RC tanks, although I'm an RC plane/helicopter guy at heart. Maybe some time I'll scratch-build a G locomotive and start out that way. You've really inspired me!So Grandpa, you ride a hog??? I ride a Road King. Maybe if the opportunity presents itself I can ride out to your place sometime and check out your incredible set-up.
Well grandson if your riding a RoadKing do you neeeed a grandpa? (LOL) Yes I ride a softail deluxe. The absolute best thing I can tell you is to find a local train club and get involved, and all clubs have people with better experience than me, so you can learn a lot from these people. I love HO but I just cant see that small stuff no more that's why I went to G scale, you can really see the detail in G scale, and the wood is a little thicker and doesn't break so easy. If I was to do it all over I think I might want to try ON30
Ha! I thought you might say that about my RK, Grandpa. I ride very long distances (cross-country), otherwise I'd probably have a pretty little Deluxe like yours. Those Deluxe's are real nice, although the saddlebags are quite stupid looking in my book. My brother and I had a simple 4'X8' HO layout when we were kids, but like any other Harley guy, bigger is most definitely the best. I think the big G scale stuff just looks like a lot more fun. I love the way you make your models completely unique and level 36 cool. I want to be just like you, Grandpa! I want to build a fun railroad for my kids to play with, although my layout would never hold a candle to yours. Watching your videos, you seem like a real cool dude. If you're ever up to it, let's ride sometime!
Hey I’m thetomyking06 I would love to do a Kalab video with you or just talk to you about your g scale modeling. I’m making a g scale layout my self, and I would love to talk to you about you techniques

I wish I had a grandpa like you. My only living grandpa was mean and boring. Can I adopt you as my grandpa too?
Sure why not, my grandsons don't care about modeling at all, so sure, Ill take anyone interested in the hobbyWhat do you want to do, new grandson
