I own a Fender Made in Mexico Telecaster from 2003. That was the time, when Fender Mexico made their best guitars. It cost me 400€. And the quality, the sound and the feel of the neck are perfect and I never played a better Telecaster, or even generally a Fender, which suited me so well. 😍
@@TheWorshipPortal The models after 2010 weren‘t that good. Nothing touches my Tele! 😅 I especially use it for Worship in my Church in Duesseldorf, Germany. Sounds awesome through the Strymon Iridium on the Chime Setting. At home, I use a Vox AC15C1. 👍
Porter pickups are awesome. They’re based in my hometown and the founder was a student of my favorite teacher who happens to play guitar and I’m told by him that they have exceptional costumer service. I’m so glad to at the best pickups I can get is within driving distance.
I have the 2023 Squier classic vibe 60s strat. I modified with fended pure vintage 59 pickups, Mojotone wiring harness with blender and cts pots and switchcraft switch and jack. Fender locking tuners. I put a fender player series maple neck on it just because I liked it more and already had it. Now it’s my number 1 all the time
Nice, it's always fun when you find the guitar that suits you the best and it happens to be on a lower budget :) I currently own an Affinity Strat, Vintage Modified Mustang and Jazzmaster and a Bullet Strat and they are all great guitars. I've owned a Classic Vibe 60's Stratocaster which I later on traded for a real Fender Mexico 60's Strat which is one of my best moves so far, because I freaking love that guitar :) The Classic Vibe had the looks but not the feel unfortunately, as I prefer the vintage radius on the fretboard. I also agree with you on the modifications here and that an HSS Stratocaster is the best option out there. I've modded my Fender Lonestar Strat similar as it has a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Custom in the bridge, so I'm splitting it with the tone knob and then I've installed a second switch to make it active in every other position and it's fantastic! It makes it possible for me to play Mark Knopfler one night, and Mayhem the other night!
@@TheWorshipPortal I have a Player series Strat and it's currently my favorite :) It's black with a beautiful dark Pau Ferro. I can highly recommend you getting one! I would rather get the Fender over a high end Squier just because the Squier doesn't feel like a Fender, and I just prefer the Fender feeling. I don't know why but there is a little bit of magic that the Squiers don't have. I've done a blog post on this actually if it interest you :)
Your pickups are the BIGGEST reason this is my No. 1. Thanks for your amazing work! Going to be reviewing my 335 with the Portertrons in the next couple of weeks. Can't wait!
The Worship Portal Do you have any trouble with the frets being soft? Wear, i.e. grooves, dents & scratchy feel, from strings with medium to light use. I have the 50" CVS trans blonde, I love the guitar however, I have had to reshape and polish frets 3-4 times in one year. In turn that causes one to perform a leveling after a couple times shaping and polishing. I don't play heavy-handed, I would say the avg daily playtime on the rig is about 30-45min as I have a couple rigs. I am not being picky either, I don't re-work the fret until they get to the point of it feeling scratchy and feeling like the strings are wanting to dig due to a flat scratchy surface. The work is NP as I have been working guitar for years. However, I have been hearing I am not the only one. So if this is an issue I would like to get the word out so maybe it will be fixed so others that can't maintain a guitar easily don't have this issue. I have never had a guitar with frets as soft as this one. Purchased in early 2021. JFYI everything else I love about the guitar. I even think the PUPs & hardware performs great and honestly think the value for quality is smarter to buy the CV over a fender unless you just want brand cred. I totally understand some hardware mods but don't think it is a (must do) like some other guitars in this price range.
Ok that’s a lot lol. I haven’t had any issues with fret wear tbh. I also don’t play it everyday. I have a few I switch between. You definitely don’t have to do hardware upgrades but I think it helps with some better pickups. Especially since I wanted the HSS with the blend wiring. I also could not care less about brand cred. All I want is a nice playing guitar. Thanks for the comment!
I just got a Squier and a small Fender amp from my coworker for free. I'm more of a singer and play some keys... but have never given the guitar a chance. hope to pick up a new skill.
I have 3 squiers right now and have owned 3 others in my life. I only have good things to say about them. I would love to see you play that thing! Jump on my Discord and send me a picture of it, I’d love to see which it is 🙂
Are you sure it’s 60s? That color and maple fretboard falls under the 50s design, all CV 60s are rosewood fretboard, if not rosewood it’s some dark non maple non finished board.
You are absolutely correct. I misspoke when recording this. It is a 50s. I bought this second hand for $75 off FB marketplace and got it mixed up. Good eye!
It's my number one too, I also own a player series but classic vibes just rocks.
The classic vibes are so underrated! Thinking about getting a CV tele next 🙂

I like the mods Jon!

Love it maten looking to get a jazz master soon! Got a video of your guitars by any chance?

Sorry man, I don't make videos :/
Considering the new Player series, but also not against a higher end squier.

Also want to add.. if you are going for a Jazzmaster, I would get the Fender for a modern feel and the Squier if you want the more vintage specs.
Just bought a classic vibe 50s Stratocaster. Love the way it feels in my hands. Hope it lasts me for a long time.

Does ir stay tuned after using the wah bar?
It’s pretty good. Not an perfect, but not bad. I really don’t use the whammy on this guitar though.
What kind of strings are those? I have a Squire Bass.
I use elixir 10s on my fender style guitars. I use Flatwounds on my bass 🙂
gotta polish up the frets on a classic vibe
