VINTAGE AIRCRAFT Tour - Fantasy of Flight Museum - w/Connor - Part 1

  • If you remember in Waco Part 3, a young boy named Connor came out to greet me and look at my plane when I stopped in Crestview, Florida. It was a rarity on this trip, and for my recent experience in general, that not many people care for cool or vintage aircraft anymore. I was so taken with Connor and his love for planes, that I invited him out to Fantasy of Flight to tour my Museum Lite. Unfortunately, there was a little mix up when . . . well watch and you'll see. While getting a free tour yourself.
Fantasy of Flight's Museum Lite opens June 19th, Father's Day Weekend, for its summer seasonal opening. Drop by and see everything in person.

I get the feeling pure enthusiasm is getting more and more seldom these days. Connor is obviously one of the lucky one's experiencing it. His enthusiasm ended up giving him a personal tour at Fantasy of Flight, guided by the legend himself, Kermit Weeks.
Enthusiasm gets you places. Good for him!

Mr. Weeks, You're a class act !! Not only did you pay for your mistake, you "paid it forward " creating another airplane nut . And the tradition of sharing you exemplified is what made American aviation what it is .

Kermie. I am 6 (x10+1) years old today, June 18 , I have visited you 2 x from the UK, now live in TX. Now retired . Will come to visit in 2020/21 when open. My love for Aero started in 1969 with the BOB movie. Fantastic gesture to this kid and family, Connor will be one of a new generation as are my Kids. Great gesture !

Kermit, a wonderful gift to Conner. You jumped outa your comfy chair and gulped down the last of the Jamaica rum and met Conner and flew him a dream trip. People respond to a dreamer that has dreamt and won and may do the same themselves.

Your tag line at the end of all your videos is "Light That Spark Within". I think you helped to do just that for this boy. Not only will he have a memory that will last a life time that he will probably be telling his kids and grand kids about, but you may have just helped shaped his future no matter what that may be. You are a good man Mr. Weeks.

When I was 10 I went to Fantasy of Flight and you let me fold the wings on your wildcat. Still the best memory as a kid ever! I really miss the old Fantasy of Flight, it was life changing. (side note, I related to that dark scary tunnel, the first time I went through that I tried to get up enough courage for like 5 minutes before I actually "jumped"). Thank you Kermit for everything that you did and are doing.

You are such a nice person, Mister Weeks. And what a lucky boy he is. When I was of his age, without computer let alone Internet, all I could learn aircrafts with were a few magazines and books and a couple of Matchbox models. Wish I could go to see your collections one day. Please be careful and stay safe when the museum reopens.

I met Kermit during my first visit to fantasy of flight January 1999. He was eating with other people in the cafeteria. He had a super long ponytail. I introduced myself and talked to him about my newly purchased Pitts S1S. I also went up in the helium tethered balloon on that windy day. Lots of fun. I remember flying the simulator airplanes shooting the other participants down who were not pilots. Kermit is a very nice guy although he did not give me a personal guided tour! I visited two more times after that. I can't get enough of the Gee Bee's. I've seen Delmar fly the R2 dozens of times. I loved the Gee Bee Z in the movie Rocketeer.

I always went through the "dark scary tunnel" quick because I wanted to see the B-17 and other airplanes. lol
I went there MANY times when it was the hangers only and the shop tours, and then when they opened the little museum hanger as well.
There are a few other sites like this in Florida, but this is the only one that keeps most of their aircraft flight ready and he has a lot of airplanes you just won't ever see anywhere else.

Hi, Kermit, you looked like giving Conner and his parents was the highlight of YOUR day and not an intrusion. It was delightful to see Conner's excitement and knowledge of the planes at his young age and I'm sure he will treasure the memory of this personal guides tour for the rest of his life. What I wouldn't give to have had the opportunity to meet some one like you when I was his age. Thank you for sharing the special video and God Bless you.
