I just wanted to say that I literally go to your channel for my source when it comes to WoW specs. You know your shit, and I enjoy the way you explain things in depth. I main Frost, and while it’s not a hard spec this video keeps my achieving the best possible results. I hope you continue doing this during BfA.
For frost tmog go glacial robe, glacial belt, hide shoulder, hide back, use small black gloves, use store bought crown for head. For weapon tmog go for the plain blue staff from WoD.
Frost spike mage here, a couple things. A good idea is go ahead and use any brain freezes on icicles 1-3 4th or 5th icicle freezes you save for glacial spike. Also if you have gotten it you can use ebonbolt. And take rune of power since you now have control of when your dmg will spike if times right you can rune of power,,- glacial spike-immediately hit flurry and then finish it with an ice lance to cash in on that shatter.at gear score 930 and above I've been regularly cutting for 13-14+ mil dmg plus the dmg from the flurry and ice lance and you should have enough time on your rune of power to cast ebonbolt totaling something around around 40 mil dmg in a few seconds
Very good guide and for me the best explanations I could find! Loved it even though I prefer arcane! Thanks for sharing your UI profile. I like it very much. Got a subscriber now.
Chain reaction is also a good thing to make a weak aura for and keep track of if you're wanting to squeeze out as much damage from you fingers of frost as possible. Whenever your Frost bolt crits, you will gain a stack of chain reaction (max of 3 stacks). I personally like to cast a Frost bolt while I have both procs of fingers of frost and brain freeze active at the same time. Reason being is that if you cast Frost bolt and then immediately cast the brain freeze proc right when the cast of the frost bolt is about to cast, you will immediately crit the Frost bolt and stack your chain reaction causing that fingers of frost to hit for more damage. That's just me though, there's no right or wrong way to do it, just a matter of preference. Feel free to do add any input to this as to gather more information and help maximize damage output for Frost. P.S. Great video by the way!
Shimmer lancing still pretty much alive... And double ice lancing as well but much more hard to do this days... I personally still utilize shimmer lancing when I know I wont be needing my shimmers any time soon.
i have got a question if i have brainfreeze proc and a icy fingerns proc what do i use first? the icelance then flurry then icelance? or just flurry and icelance? but this wastes the icy fingers proc because the target is frozen after flurry snd my icelance would crit anyway or am i wrong?
I'm levelling a frost mage right now and I was using my ice lances and flurry (with the proc) only when i'm at 4 or 5 charges of Incanter's flow , to maximize the damage done by these two; Is it bad to do so ?
Kinda new to WoW but what is the TMW link you share in the video? Sorry for the stupid question I'm just trying to get setup for success and just didn't know what TMW was. Thanks and great video btw.
TMW is Tellmewhen, is addon that shows auras, those icons in the center of the screen, telling you cooldowns or buffs or whatever you want really, mostly to help in situations where you want to check cooldowns and you have to look down or buffs and you have to look up, this way is all centered in the front of the screen. You can get the addon easily anywhere and if you need help setting it up, just PM or leave another comment. Cheers!
Whats the difference between using the ice lance for the rotation and getting rid of it? I never understood this munch thing. Also if were not supposed to throw fingers on frost into a brainfreeze, why do we do it anyway? I've watched to many guides and I'm confused.
Do you mean the weird situation where you have a brainfreeze proc and a finger of frost proc? I've heard that its ok to go Fb, Flurryy, IL. And i've heard that you shouldnt and instead go Fb, IL then Fb, Flurry, IL. Even tho i feel like it's better to go for the second one, I still don't know for sure. Are there any high end dps frost mages that could solve that riddle for us? :)
He covers this from around 11:40 to 12:10 in the video but it's difficult to explain. If I didn't know about it beforehand I wouldn't have gotten it either. The difference is where you are in the frostbolt spam. Let's say your chain casting frostbolt as you're supposed to. Because you start the second frostbolt cast immediately after the first one finishes, your ability to react to procs is delayed by one frostbolt. We can visualize it like this: Frostbolt > *Frostbolt* > Frostbolt Let's say your initial frostbolt procs FoF and Brain Freeze. You're in the middle of casting the bolded Frostbolt when you see these procs. If you were to Ice Lance at the end of the bolded Frostbolt, you risk munching Brain Freeze (because in this case, if the bolded Frostbolt were to proc BF, you'd still have the one the first Frostbolt proc'd, and you didn't do the Frostbolt>Flurry>Ice Lance combo that prevents munching). Therefore, the right answer when you're in the middle of another Frostbolt is to ignore the FoF proc and, after the bolded Frostbolt finishes, do the Flurry>Ice Lance combo. But sometimes you won't be in the middle of another Frostbolt cast. And if you aren't, then you dump the Ice Lance proc before hitting Flurry. Because otherwise it would be wasted to the Winter's Chill from Flurry. To try a simpler explanation: if you're casting Frostbolt, you sacrifice the FoF proc because it's better to munch a FoF proc than to munch a BF proc. If you aren't casting Frostbolt, you dump the Ice Lance because it would be wasted otherwise. I'm pretty sure I got the idea for this explanation from the official forums at some point. Sorry I can't remember his name to give proper credit.
when you flurry it applies a debuff called winters chill which makes ice lance crit as if it were a FOF proc so you have been losing out on tons of damage like that
You always want to cast a frost bolt before consuming a brain freeze proc with flurry, because the frost bolt will shatter with winters chill. So what he is saying is "Never use flurry > ice lance while you are moving, always cast frost bolt before flurry"
Isabelle Layla frost nova, frost bolt, I believe just about all of the moves freeze the target for a certain length of time. Just read each spell and see what it does. Also check out icy veins web site for talent builds and tips.
Played so much frost mage in legion, never felt I was at the mercy of RNG. Guessing if you are at 5M Hp at this point, you maybe are tierless and just twinking it up to try it out and dont have the gear to get the proper experience of the class.
Yeah. I feel the same. It is a bit RNG, but largely averages out to the same. Same as fire. arcane, i wished I cared about it more but it just feels boring. imo. I hear it's doing really well these days. but I always fight between frost and fire!
Great video but have to agree with Tomas. If you’re “properly” geared with 4 t21 and 2 t20 the rng feels almost nonexistent. If you’re using CDs properly you’ll have more FoF then you’ll know what to do with at times and feel like you’re less at the mercy of RNG
that is so vague it may as well not have been mentioned. I dunno, maybe you have crappy stat balance. but so many fingers of frost you can't get rid of them fast enough when you start your burst phase, frozen orb and shiet, seems pretty reliable to me. its all gooddddd
kiopl2003 No shit it's vague it was referencing your claim at higher ilvls lol, context. If you want stats that's 33/30/45/25 on my common set. I simply stated it is an RNG shit show not that I rage or get not enough procs to do decently. Simply put it is only RNG and everyone talks only about the good times when things line up well. It's all chance so your high points are so wonky at times it's a shit show.
i wanted to make a frost mage, until i saw this explanation :P it's a great guide, but way to much talking and explanation. i got tired after 5 min and then my brain couldn't take in what you're were saying^^ This guide will be good for ppl who can learn good by hearing. i'm more of a straight forward "do this, then that" kinda guide :P
Lars Söderberg i have a 102 frost mage, if you don’t know how to play what u do is frostbolt till you get procs on Ice Lance and Flurry. Basic idea, at least
I dont even want to play the classes, but i always watch your vids because you do them so well, keep it up
"Don't blow your load to early because that's not fun" xD
Thanks for this tutorial. The 'use frostbolt before procs' tip was a slight adjustment to my rotation, but went a long way!

I love you so much man. The guides are the epitomy of thoroughness and clearness, and you hide here and there tiny Easter eggs of hilarious humour.
Coming back to game... best step by step breakdown of Frost I’ve seen. Thx!
I have only ever leveled my mage to be a pocket mage until Legion. I have always favored Frost. This is a great guide.
For frost tmog go glacial robe, glacial belt, hide shoulder, hide back, use small black gloves, use store bought crown for head. For weapon tmog go for the plain blue staff from WoD.
Hide shoulders LOL....you sound like a transmog novice..
the only transmog for a female mage is black mageweave set
Bro, your vids are awesome, they are my go to guides! Great job and please keep it up!
Appreciate all your work, can't wait for the arcane one!

Great video! Truly helped me beef up my dps. Keep up the good work!
Great guide. Much appreciated! Cheers
Amazing video. Excellent!
Quality of your guides keep amazing me. GJ

Sweet awesome!
Hell yeah! At the end :) love ya bro
best guide
could u please me this evlui profile ? the site doesnt exist anymore, please
+1 Used his profile since legion but lost it.

Im trying to get Elvui profile but it says that is corrupted.

Ahh duh yeah I use it for my arcane mage build. Told ya stupid question but thanks for the answer boss. Keep up the great work.
Can we get your weak auras? They look very well placed and done that would a huge help/boost.
In the description, its Tellmewhen tho.
Do you break rotation to throw an ice lance to keep legendary bracer stacks topped? sometimes RNG gives no procs and the stacks will drop =/
Nop, never break your rotation to do un-shattered Ice Lances. Not even for lego bracers.
does the winterchill comes every time or is it rmg for it?
Great vid! How do you get those icons of your abilities in the center of your screen?
It’s a weakaura
Jane Deau which weak aura is it? I tried looking it up but couldnt find anything
Great vid as always! Could you maybe do a video on Prot Warrior? Thanks!
Yea should start tank guides soonish.
that'd be dope af, man! You should start with Prot Warrior ;P Anyways, keep up the great work, man!
Im waiting for Prot Warrior too! :)

I thought you only cast Ice Lance when it was an insta-proc - at least that is how I've been doing it... :)
when you flurry it applies a debuff called winters chill which makes ice lance crit as if it were a FOF proc so you have been losing out on tons of damage like that
I can reliably say you lose at least 400k dps at 960 IL if you aren't casting ice lance after flurry (I wasn't and now I am, and BOOM huge difference)
Would you recommend fire over frost in new expansion ?
Still got to check them out, im doing previews on classes, so we'll see!
Step 1) FROSTBOLT
*checks parse*
Will you do a warlock guide?
Working on Affliction as we speak.
I don't get what he means with brain freeze at 19:25?
You always want to cast a frost bolt before consuming a brain freeze proc with flurry, because the frost bolt will shatter with winters chill. So what he is saying is "Never use flurry > ice lance while you are moving, always cast frost bolt before flurry"
arcane guide?
using the water ele is a dps loss
versatlity gives me more dps than haste.
vers=haste (968) frost mage here
how to freeze a target though?
Isabelle Layla frost nova, frost bolt, I believe just about all of the moves freeze the target for a certain length of time. Just read each spell and see what it does. Also check out icy veins web site for talent builds and tips.

970 Frost Mage here, RNG still exists, and yes I do pull fine numbers but Frost is still an RNG shit show.

l tried to import your profile but it says it's corrupted :c
which one?
Selwen already fixed it, sorry hahaha
How did you fix it? says corrupted for me as well
l just normally copy and paste, not by using ctrl+T
que alguien traduzca esto a español porfavor
Why you call my favorite spec a shitshow :c
Haha, it is a great spec, the frustrating rng at times, not so much :D
i bad i 350 k dmg not more
Nooooo
Ice nova is so much better
i wanted to make a frost mage, until i saw this explanation :P it's a great guide, but way to much talking and explanation. i got tired after 5 min and then my brain couldn't take in what you're were saying^^ This guide will be good for ppl who can learn good by hearing. i'm more of a straight forward "do this, then that" kinda guide :P
Lars Söderberg you cant learn if someone tells you what to press
They need to explain you WHY you need to press something and wheb
Vojin Stanivukov I know^^ I did decide to make a frost make anyway after this. I figured it out alone instead ;)
Lars Söderberg i have a 102 frost mage, if you don’t know how to play what u do is frostbolt till you get procs on Ice Lance and Flurry. Basic idea, at least
yea, i have a 110 ilvl 960. i made one anyway:)
A little silly to come to a video that's 20+ mins then >_>
Splitting ice is better for single target. Sim it.
And it’s been that way since NH btw
