Thank you gin and juice! This video has exactly what I've been wanting to see for such a long time.. Ripping wax, send the best grades in for grading, adding all the totals and seeing if you can make a profit and if so, buy how much. I think a profit of 280usd is really good. I don't believe too many people get half their money back when its all totaled up.. Congrats and keep the videos coming!! Peace
Respect the transparency fellas. Honestly, if you look at all the videos across youtube, not just your channel, 80% of the time, everyone gets dusted. The prices that Panini is commanding is absolutely outrageous yet breakers still pay. That's the real problem and keeps majority of people out of the hobby. Something needs to change.
The genuine honesty at LBTV is what makes the channel. You can tell you guys are good dudes. Keep killing it! Go birds! I hope yous run like God next time you’re in Vegas 🥂
Thank you for this honest transparency. I truly hope you guys make more of these videos and people who aren’t used to the hobby can learn from you guys dos and dont.
Great video because too often, people think you get an unlimited supply of "influencer boxes" for free and we're the suckers in the end who gamble and lose. Transparency is a win for everyone. Hope to see more content like this
You can think of it as only making $280, but hard to put a value on the fun of opening the boxes and the community you're doing it for. I appreciate the transparency of it, i think most of us watch it for the fun of seeing someone rip packs we either can't find or buy! Always appreciate the posts you guys do! Keep grinding!
Thanks, Deej. It's always fun ripping when I could get 60-70% of my money back so the hit isn't as hard. But only getting 20-30% that's when it starts to not get so fun.
What I hate even more is when I do get a huge hit from pulling and it’s ding’d up, scratched, or has print lines! I have an on-card Ant auto but it has scratches, and I have Giannis /5 courtside card with print lines 😒
Love videos like that. There’s not enough of them out there. People Like myself that can only spend about $500 Per Month in cards is probably going to have to rely on grading to make a profit.
Love this content. Really shows the risk/reward of ripping & grading & puts it in perspective. A lot of us (myself included) don’t factor these types of things in, this was very informative & I enjoyed this one a lot
Great video. Enjoyed the financial breakdown. Based on my experience, you only have about a 15% chance of making your money back on a box. Until next time...
What? That jaden ivey psa 10 auto gold is nowhere near 2k. The gold concourse sold for 560 on eBay, and there's actually not much premiums on autos in the select set (you want the courtsides). So even if we give it a 2x premium (which is a LOT) that jaden ivey gold is around 1-1.1k. NOT 2k.
Justin - take off your cape, my man. The point of the video had nothing to do with the Jaden Ivey. It has everything to do with people opening product and thinking they are making money. First, you mentioned this concourse psa 10 that sold for $560. Which is the lowest teir of select. I wouldn't compare a gold auto to that a gold concourse. There is also a comp for a gold disco auto out of ten as a PSA 9 $727. Even if we double that price to $1,450. If I were you, I would have used that as your argument. You forget that these are estimations. Pure estimations.. don't get so hung up small details when everything else was pretty spot on.
First of all, concourse vs premier vs autos don't have a massive tier difference compared to courtside. Second of all that PSA 9 727 dollar comp was 8/16 about a month after product release. You definitely should know the prices have fallen massively since then. A concourse gold /10 PSA 10 is def worth more than a psa 9 gold auto. In terms of the message, you are absolutely correct that opening boxes does not make money. I'm just saying here that you're saying that you MADE money after grading and its an odd one out, what I'm saying is that even hitting the gold you're still losing HUNDREDS. That gold is still 1k max given the price of other ivey gold psa 10 autos.@@LootboxTVreviews

Watched CardCollector open NFL Prizm Hobby and pull a Lamar Jackson Colorblast, a CASE hit. Recent sales were $700 on eBay meaning the seller took home what $630? The box cost $900-$1000 after tax right? I know it's more fun to rip but everyone knows it's better to buy singles if you are looking for the most practical route.
And that's if you're selling for top dollar in person. If you're selling on ebay, you lose another what, 12-15%? I think you're biggest money maker from this isn't the cards, it's the ad revenue from UA-cam
We were comparing the boxes we got the cards from. There are def lots of boxes we lost big on. This was just comparing when we did get a hit from the boxes and comparing it to the value of the cards
Did your estimation account fees? If not, you’re losing money. But at least you got some money opening on the channel. I can’t recall a time opening wax was worth, except the very brief stint in 2020. Thanks for sharing!
You should buy 20 raw cards… then grade them.. make a video and show price differences.. I’ve always bought raw 80% and ripped 20%.. now it’s more like 95% bout and 5% rip.. Ripping is just for fun the problem is the box prices are crazy. Ya can definitely find solid deals out there ya jus gotta keep looking! Good luck going forward guys. Keep the hobby going!
So roughly 50% of the total sales was in the Jaden Ivey which was out of 10. Meaning that type of card is insanely rare to pull and a complete outlier to obtain. And you barely made profit. Dope looking card though
I use to collect NFL cards back in the 90s and marvel cards stopped was gonna get back into NFL card hobby collecting. Thank you for the video shows very very hard to make money on collecting cards

Does your total include the total value of all the boxes you opened or only the boxes where you had these hits? It is also madness that the market values a psa 9 at the same value of raws as on ebay the majority of raw cards are probably 7-8s especially of rarer numbered cards otherwise the seller would of already had them graded....
I think PSA 9s should absolutely get a premium over raw. What are your thoughts on how the different grading companies affect the price? I've thought about using TAG just because you get so much information about the card. Plus it removes any bias.
Thanks for keeping it real with us. No fake hype...so you guys risked $4k to make $280 back after a couple months. Boy this Market ain't what it used to be.

Thanks if anyone has any insight
Retail boxes and packs are a sure way to never make money let alone break even. Found that out when i first got into it. Plus you’d be hard pressed to find a 10 in them too. They must throw the boxes on the shelves during stocking
Love the video! Just be careful because on 3-4 of the reveals you leaked the grade early. I know you didn't see it but the audience did. Just something to be aware of. Love the content! Thank you!
I like the new content. I think you did well cause you hit pretty good cards in your boxes. Which is very rare. I think if you were to do it again with another 5 or 6 boxes, send them in and i think youll get a more accurate result. And loose. You got lucky and take it. Best wishes on your new adventure boys.
as its just a side hobby to me I always keep track of card value and what i paid for the boxes. no new boxes till I'm in the plus form the ones I bought before :)
You only tracked the value of the boxes & breaks the graded cards came from. Are you leaving out all the box values & breaks during this same period where you hit nothing?
I purposely took these boxes and these hits to show that if you are getting lucky, you still could be coming up short. Idk if you are a new watcher or not, but the channel is full of examples of opening boxes and getting nothing in return. But you are giving me an idea, though, for another video. Maybe I take a whole month and open up product, grade and sell, and see what I get in return.
I wish they would put grader’s notes somewhere point out what’s wrong, why’s it a 9 and not 10. I personally like Beckett slabs better way more info, even if PSA would put it online when you scan them.
I saw a comment which is about ebay fees, and im not sure if you have included the grading fees to the total... I always think of this as a hobby not business, all losing money. No business person will even suggest to invest to a trading card..thats a complete lie if he did.

I remember when you broke that Optic Football. I, myself, cracked a 2020 Prizm FB 2 weeks ago. I pulled an orange Herby /249. centering was stellar. Hoping it gems. I paid a G for it when they released. If Tua beats your boys tomorrow night, you may be able to get more than the estimate.
Just think.... you ripped some decent hits out of those boxes. Sometimes you're not even that lucky and dont come close to getting remotely close to value from a box. I stopped getting into breaks due to how upside down i was with money in compared to return. Hard to have fun, when literally after all money spent trying to get those nice chase cards. You could have just bought one outright at the end.
And don’t forget about your ebay fees!! I read a comment that you said you didn’t think you would sell on ebay. Where else can you “put it up for 250$ obo” like you said about two of the cards? I sell on ebay and the fees are rough, curious if you sell on a different platform
Problem is you still have to sell the cards, it takes time if the card/player is not liquid (value can also go up or down depending on a players performance). Hopefully YT income will offset your cost for the boxes.
@@m1j9s79 Are you joking? You need to realize how complex your first statement was. The purpose of the video was to take the stack of cards I was getting graded and share the price I either paid for the box or how much I paid for the card at a card show. The video was very honest. Your statement means that I should share all boxes open between those big hits, which gives me no context for the actual purpose of my video. Why would I do that when the channel as a whole is documentation of me losing money LOL. As I mentioned in my first comment, I could cover it in another video. Meaning maybe I show you what I spend in 30 days or something. So relax; this channel has always been transparent and will continue to be.
@@LootboxTVreviews That wasn’t what you presented. Why was my statement complex? Its the total input vs the total output as a measure or you are presenting false data. I think if you were to do it again with another 5 or 6 boxes, send them in and i think youll get a more accurate result. And loose. You got lucky and take it. Best wishes on your new adventure boys.
Love the video. Great way to show ROI. I thought I could make money when I first started. 😂
Glad it was helpful! LOL - Hey at least you are still having some fun.
as its just a side hobby to me I always keep track of card value and what i paid for the boxes. no new boxes till I'm in the plus form the ones I bought before :)
Hey, as long as you break even, you can always buy back in for more openings to make UA-cam content 😁
Go with beckett, you at least get subgrades so you can actually see what's wrong with the card. As opposed to PSA just slapping a number on there
Can send em all back in and get diff grades next time.
I wish they would put grader’s notes somewhere point out what’s wrong, why’s it a 9 and not 10. I personally like Beckett slabs better way more info, even if PSA would put it online when you scan them.
You're right gambling isn't easy.
AT ALL lol
I have a lot of 2020 Optic and Prizm NFL unopened. Should I open it? I’m worried it will brick.
I saw a comment which is about ebay fees, and im not sure if you have included the grading fees to the total... I always think of this as a hobby not business, all losing money. No business person will even suggest to invest to a trading card..thats a complete lie if he did.
You didn't watch the whole video. 😁
Also, eBay fees are a given, but that's if you sell only on eBay.
@@LootboxTVreviewslol, I did while driving,, not paying attention much. Always with you guys specially in painful moments😄.. I have so many losing moments too
Love it guys. A lot of effort gone into this video. I get it, anyone worth their stock with get it too. Keep it up, you’re my favourite collectibles channel. Big W 👍🏻
Only info I got was Gin mentioning to always use protection.
Enjoyed the video, thanks
Great stuff boys! That Ivey Gold is Nasty!!
$280 + UA-cam revenue … could be worth it
You forgot shipping fee's both their and return plus taxes.
And don’t forget about your ebay fees!! I read a comment that you said you didn’t think you would sell on ebay. Where else can you “put it up for 250$ obo” like you said about two of the cards? I sell on ebay and the fees are rough, curious if you sell on a different platform
Yes, but it was left out on purpose. Not everyone and every sell come from eBay.
@@LootboxTVreviews I understand that completely, what other platforms do you use that gets a good amount of eyeballs?
@@LootboxTVreviews ive been thinking about comc but I don’t know anything about it
@@joemarsh2050 comc, IG, facebook, and card shows.
God I miss spending all night sitting in a Walmart parking lot waiting for it to open.
Problem is you still have to sell the cards, it takes time if the card/player is not liquid (value can also go up or down depending on a players performance). Hopefully YT income will offset your cost for the boxes.
Kool video 👍
Good video guys being realistic 👌
Very informative...liked and subbed....time to binge ya
Do I loose value if I grade with CGC vs PSA?
IMO yes. PSA typically sells at a higher premium
that's why its a hobby
Best comment yet!
This guy gets it
Excellent vid thanks for the insight.
Like watching your videos.
Great truthful video loot !!
You have to add in the cost of the boxes in between those boxes with the big hits.
That wasn't the purpose, really. I can cover that in another video.
@@LootboxTVreviews The purpose wasn’t to be honest? I know you lost money opening all that. Alot of money.
If you eliminate in-between breaks with no hits then you are being dishonest or you are just bad at math. I love your channel and I love your content. Thank you for your time.
@@m1j9s79 The introduction clearly outlines that I am evaluating the product based on those hits only. My attention is solely on assessing these specific cards. Your comment is somewhat convoluted due to its general nature. Are you suggesting that I incorporate half a year's worth of data into a video, even though all the opens are already visible on the channel? Thanks for the views and sub. Love having these conversations.
Think you mixed up horizontal and vertical my guys. But congrats on the cards!
Wish you guys would go back to pokemon. Back when you first started was what got me into grading cards wish i wouldve done it sooner tho, and learned how to profit off of it earlier
When I first started was gaming, but I hear ya.
Your channel gives me hope to not believe in “influencer boxes”
Definitely not making money here after selling on platforms like ebay, which take nearly an 15% cut of sales. Should be mentioning that too. Wont be very easy to sell in person for cash for recent comps.
