  • This is the basic process of of making maple syrup, from collecting the sap from the trees, to boiling, then filtering off and bottling the finished product. An old process is used, manually moving the sap from the rear pans to the front.

    You have a nice setup, you can almost smell the sap boiling off. Thank you.

    Just subscribed. I am working hard behind you. Moving 100,000 pounds of vintage machine tools to hopefully Vermont. Look out for Vintage Iron Syrup. Never thought I would move but it’s a court order thing.

    Wonderful music - your own, i understand. and this is a very labour intensive process. i live in northwestern BC and am unfamiliar with the process, and so i thank you profusely for bringing some understanding of this process to light. I want to thank Natalie Kouao for pointing me in your direction:) Thank you so much for this:)

    Does the hydraulic oil bucket you are using to carry the sap help the flavor ??

    Just finishing my last boil. Best year ever ( +++++ on the sand), over in Haliburton. Like your stove brother, did you make it ? If so , top notch my friend . God love ya and have a great year as the world panics

      Cheers to that. It wasn't a great year here, we normally pull the taps after 40 gallons but only made it to 25 this time. The old evaporator was made by Dominion and Grimm in Montreal, my guess is during the 1920s or 30s, but the pans are a mix of old and new. Take her easy

      @@castironmachines sorry to hear that . Comes but once a year so it's sad when it's down. 1930's eh, wow. Our fathers sure new how to build things to last. They'de be boiling over in their graves watching the world today. I wish the sap ran all year so i could just carry on making syrup, with some wood a pan and what our good Father provides, and the world could burn around me and I wouldn't notice. Take care friend

    This is my first to see how maple syrup was made it long process before it was on bottled , I’m a fan of eating maple syrup especially for pan cakes I used to see the label was made in in canada I know it was very famous . May know what is the name of your brand name ? From japan

    • @castironmachines
      @castironmachines  3 роки тому +2

      We don't have a brand, we just make it for family and friends instead of selling it. At the end of each year we only get around 40 gallons or 150 liters which isn't enough to sell for us. Big companies use the same process but more pipes and shrouds so it is harder to see the stages of production. Thanks for your interest!

    Labor intensive indeed, but the finished product makes it worth it. Pass the pancakes!

    Why do I hear french music in a canadian video

    • @castironmachines
      @castironmachines  4 роки тому +2

      The area where the video was made is close to the Quebec border (mainly french speaking province), and so this music is common to hear in both French and English communities.

    You need a narrator with this video to explain what you are doing each step in the syrup making process.
