I sprayed the trigger assembly inside with gun oil and it's much better in single action. Mine was a 25lb pull no joke. I was swearing in multiple languages as I live in a bilingual country, ha. Now it's ok.
After you unload the gun, The red tool slides over the casing all the way up to the moonclip. You turn it untill the lip of the red tool catches on the moonclip itself and aids you in popped pit the spent casings.
I was hoping different barrels would come to market as you can unscrew this part of the replica and remove it. Sadly not seen anything. I am aware a rhino 20ds (I think) replica was made quite some time ago so that may be as close as you can get for now. However, the replica quality of that 20ds isn’t as on par as this new replica of the 50ds. It’s more expensive too.
Hi, back after one year. The shells it comes with are very tight for pellets. I tried pushing a pellet through and it gets jammed at the front end. Compared to Dan Wesson 715 shells where the pellet drops freely through. I just use them for BB's only and the Wesson shells for pellets. I use DA and just pull to a certain point then the next pull fires. I don't use it much cause it's the limited. I was browsing one of my favorite sites and there was a limited edition 60DS. I hate Chiappa for doing this, ha. I could't resist. On the way.

Don’t forget though you altered the 50 out of the box so you’ll want to take that into consideration in your comparison.
It arrived today. Small disappointment. It was not the Limited Edition. No case etc. It has the DA pull about the same as the 50DS after oiling the 50DS, so it's nice enough. Pulling back the hammer is slightly harder than the 50 but that may just need oiling. Can't say which I like more. This has an extra rail, all nickel version, brown grip. I wish the dealer had not made this mistake I've just written him an email. They used to be a very reliable air gun dealer here in Canada but it has been sold to other people. A few months ago I bought a Tau Brno Junior target rifle from them. No packing in the box, wooden stock broke completely in half. Reglued it. I am done with this dealer. Cheers from Canada.
I have a question about the moon clips that I have literally not been able to find any answers for anywhere. Does this take other Moonclips from other manufacturers, or even the real Rhino revolver, and if so, what sort of cartridges does it? Alternatively, do Speedloaders work for it as well? Reason I ask is I want to pick one up for a sidearm, but my rule is to always have one fully load of ammo in the gun and 4 reloads, and I'm not fumbling for loose cartridges during a match.
You can use speed loaders with it. For other moon clips, I haven’t tried any other than the official one. However, I can tell you that the Dan Wesson cartridges fit the chamber and fire. So in theory if you get a Dan Wesson moon clip set it should work but as a full disclaimer I have not done it myself and only used the cartridges not moon clipped.

I mentioned my Dan Wesson cartridges work with the rhino. I’ve tried my colt ones also and I can tell you they fit. If you know someone with a Dan Wesson moon clip set (or similar) I’d ask to borrow that to see if the chamber closes and still functions as that’s the only thing I haven’t been able to confirm but I’d expect them too.

why does it say "1 of 500" on every gun? I have seen that on some other reviewers and it is on my airsoft version, too. So i guess it isnt really number limited?
Maybe. To have made it truly limited edition each gun should have had its own, unique number but this increases costs to the customer and it’s cheaper to make a “stamp” that says the same thing - 1 in 500 - and they may, as you suggest, make a few more than 500. I’m personally struggling to find anymore of these limited editions but able to get hold of the standard editions so it may actually be limited. I imagine though they made 500 of the airsoft and 500 of the Airgun so expect there to be a 1,000 of them out there and that’s just the silver edition. They also produced the charging rhino in black which would be another 1,000.

The trigger right out of a box is brutal. But if you drop little bit of silicone oil into the hammer mechanism and trigger mechanism it will be lot easier. But you can also buy competetion style springs for it which will make the trigger pull easier.
Tell me, is this CO2 revolver manufactured by Chiappa? Or is it made in the East. Looks very good but I'd love it if it was actually made by Chiappa. That may be hoping for too much ;-)
I can tell you that engineers from Chiappa Firearms where involved the the design of the Airgun but it was Wingun (Taiwan) that made it. However...the Airguns were then assembled in in the Chiappa Firearms factory in Brescia, Italy. The limited editions also include the exact same sights used on the real steel.
Ah yes that’s right. I actually tested that out with my cartridges from my Dan Wesson revolver and like you said doesn’t fit due to not having the groove
Nice review. Just a little advice. Snapping the cylinder in like you've demonstrated can in the long run damage your cylinder. Looks cool, but not a agood idea. Within time can damage the Cylinder. That said, what do you think of it?

@@Leehamful Yep, there's also an actual UK mainland legal real steel version of this (in both 9mm and .357) - and in one of the reviews the guy pulls out a similar tool for the same purpose. I love how they've kept everything as authentic as possible.
Nice video..well filmed but sorry you don't seem like a pistol guy. The barrel is where the bullets exist from....well the muzzle of the barrel. The hexagonal part is a cylinder not a barrel. The trigger is indeed horrible in SA mode, but in DA mode it's really very good. The reason is that in SA mode it isn't just trigger and sear as in most revolvers in SA mode. It's go six separate parts that it goes through, so it's clearly going to get very hard...which it is....although the final break isn't bad....the effort to get there means aiming is incredibly compromised....wobble indeed from the input needed to break the trigger. I have the 60DS...love it....as I can use a red-dot. Will go for the 50DS I am sure just to have it! LOL

Interested to know why you’d say DA is nice vs SA as I would have thought SA would be the nicer trigger pull given the hammer will already be cocked and the only function is to then fire the weapon while DA you have to move all those pieces to cock the weapon before then firing.
In the case of the CO2 Rhino it isn’t just a simple sear releasing the hammer or striker really in this case. It’s got 6 parts to move to release in SA .. a normal revolver as 2/3 including the trigger. That’s why in the case of the CO2 pistols it’s better in DA mode. The real steel pistol is has a good SA but poorer DA feel I have read. 60DS is pretty accurate for a CO2 revolver in my opinion.. and with my tiny C-More RTS2 reflex sight … that costs twice the price of the pistol … it’s great fun!!

After about 500 point177 pellets i can confirm the trigger pull with double action gets much much nicer. Very crisp and not heavy as when new. I rare use single action.
the gun looks better (eye of the beholder I guess) and has better sights. It’s not just aesthetics, Special edition also comes with the clamshell carry case - standard does not. So if you want those things, it’s arguably a better buy.
But it's definitely on my wishlist and im absoluteky buying it when my extra savings pile up. I have such a massive urge to just have this item. Like all reviews I will be subjective even when I’m trying to be objective. The reason I chose 5 was because even though it was a very windy day for shooting, it still did reasonably well for a handgun and so I factored that into the review. If it fired like that on a calm day I would have put it to a 4. It would be less if it missed the target and/or was misfiring.

Personally I’d never choose the Vigilante or Brodax over Rhino as I prefer the metal look of the Rhino over plastic from other two and just generally prefer the style of the Rhino revolver. Have you seen the SRC Titan? Different to the ones we’ve mentioned.

The trigger is certainly hard to pull and not great in either single or double action. I personally am still able to pull the trigger with more ease than yourself which is why I was still happy to recommend. However, I may have been lucky with my trigger pull as I have heard others having a much harder time with it - like yourself.

I’ve found stores in my country that sell spares. I’d say google Chiappa Rhino .177 /4.5mm moon clips and similarly for shells.

They do in both the 50 and 60 DS versions. I don’t see any limited editions being sold after a brief look but it’s not needed.

How do you put the BB's/Pellets in the shells?
If you look at the video at 4:45, you will see the shells are already in the chamber here and you can then simply push the BB/pellet into each one.

The Air Arms Alfa Proj revolver fires live rounds and is not available as an air gun so I won’t be reviewing it or able to compare it.

Yeah I need clock more time with this gun as the trigger is different to what I prefer and need to tweak the sights too.
I think the mystery item is to help put the shells on the clip.
I reached out to Chiappa to find out what it is and they confirmed it is to “remove the empty shells from the moonclips”
