One of my biggest dreams as a kid was to be able to go sit for couple hours in a coffee shop when ever I wanted to read and people-watch. I lived in the countryside and didn't have a chance to do that (don't even remember if the closest town had a coffee shop). Now as an adult I am a regular in a coffee shop and because of that I even got to taste new products before they were put on the menu. So I'm living my dream :D
As a librarian I am contractually obligated to mention public libraries as OG third places…and I love the coffee shop Next Door Records in Shepherds Bush.
I watched this video two months ago, and I enjoyed watching it now. I think this content Dan creates is the very 'colour and comfort' its subject the cafes represent. Thank you for being my third space
honestly, feeling the loss of third spaces extra hard because i realized i'm autistic around the same time the pandemic hit and a lot of the existing third spaces do not accommodate for that. this video was a nice reminder of how much i miss third spaces and hopefully will help me seek some out again despite all the challenges that entails
what a lovely, cozy video! and what a fun, summery nail polish choice! (but is it dodie yellow though...?) also, having a "nemesis herb" just feels so on brand for danny j
What great timing - in London for the first time today and on the hunt for good coffee when I return in a few weeks time. Very happy to hear that Prufrock lives up to it's reputation!
It absolutely does!! I had a massive long list and ended up with three I managed to fit in in the day. Worst case, I thought, at least I’d had a n ie day out!! So go adventuring!
As someone who has been watching UA-cam for 9 years now, I will always, always come back to Dan's channel. I live for wholesome videos like this. Best video out there 10/10. I'd love one about bookshops in London too! I hope you're keeping well Dan :)
There's a cafe in eastcote that I used to always meet up with friends in, called the bucket list. It's got a little fake garden seating area at the back and the best cakes. We've all moved away now, but I often think about finding somewhere similar in Herts. If anyone has any recs, that would be awesome.
It's so true that that small routine of going to the coffee shop is so important. Either seating down to drink/read/whatever or just getting out ofr a walk and then pick up something on it. It has been a life saver these last 10 years. Going through the weirdest phase of my life and just getting out of the house, walking for like 2km and then sitting down, sip a nice cup of coffee really helps clear the mind of all the bad stuff we over-think during the day.
I've only just moved to London about 3 months ago, and trying to find homely little cosy spaces is so bloody difficult when everything is so vast and loud!! So thank you for this list of places to look. You're doing the lord's work as per
Lovely! It's quite strange to me, having watched lots of these kinds of vlogs before visiting London a year ago, to now watch new ones and think "wait, I know that view! I've been there!"
Dan! I hope this doesn’t come across as weird but I was just thinking about you earlier this week and how it had been a while since you’d posted. So happy to see this 😁 You’re definitely one of my comfort UA-camrs.
Hello Dan! If you see this, I just wanted to thank you for this video and for all your videos really, they always radiate warmth and make me feel at ease :)
I've had such a hard day at work but when I saw this in my notifications I said, "Oh, thank God." out loud to myself. 💙 Absolutely what I need right now.
I’ve recently started trying to become a regular at a couple different places. There’s something so wholesome about having the staff know your name and order
This was so nice! I love trying new coffee shops, its my favourite hobby. And as a Londoner I, of course, feel obligated to insert an opinion I've not been asked for. I love popping into the De Beauvoir Deli (the name is crazy I know. Pretend you're french it helps) for a quick dash. (Tbh its less of a pop and more of a bull barelling down a china shop) Theyve got a dine-in option across the street, if you want to consume your Monmouth coffee sheltered. Highly recommend going in the morning and asking about their bagels. They've seen me weep literal tears of gratitute for them (a rough patch, veganuary). If I need to look at a set of walls that arent my own to accompany my work, I like the ones at the London Fields Ozone. Very vibey
Dan?! You have a YT Channel?! Where the hell have I been all this time. It is time to binge all the videos from old to new haha. Will miss you on the Raw reviews. All the very best in your schooling adventures. I know you will prosper ❤
Love the video and can’t wait to try all of these! My favourite haunt will always be Paperback Coffee, on 73 St Mary’s Road in Ealing. It’s full of books for sale that the owner has handpicked and their specialty pastries are to die for!
coffee and tea houses have historically also been spaces for talking about politics, publishing work about politics, and through these avenues, holding states accountable! They've been central to creating a 'public'. Now, as most things, they've been limited to commodities. But sth to think ab!
i want u to host a whole show where you explore london!! you really have a knack for this. *manifesting some higher executive at the bbc or something to see this video and recognize your talent and let you do this*
Dan you uploaded this video at the perfect time. A friend of mine is coming up to London tomorrow and I want to take her to a cool coffee place so I'll definitely pick one of these lol
god i miss prufrock :') ive been to london two times in the past few years and prufrock is pretty much the only place i absolutely wont forget to visit (oh and the huge waterstones) cuz its just so so good
I wish I knew about the wren cafe when I was doing jury service at the old Bailey like trying to find a nice not chain place around there for a coffee and lunch was difficult
This is it!! Sometimes we don’t have the TIME to go hunting when we know somewhere is super convenient. So on my days off, this is exactly why I wanted to go hunting!!
I'm a little jealous that you have such great places to just sit and have coffee in or just walk around in nature. In my little corner of America you really need a car to get anywhere, and the closest thing we have to a coffee place is the local Panera
This is going to sound weird, and I dont know if its still as good this side of the pandemic, but the sports centre on the south end of the bridge that runs through hyde park/kensington gardens will always be my fave coffee shop in london. The iced coffee I had there was one of the best Ive ever had, to the point where I didnt even complain that theyd obviously dropped rice into their ice (because it was in the bottom of my drink). I love that place so much I included it in a novella I wrote 😅 Also if you and the partner move to Wales I will have suggestions for nice coffee shops with lovely drives/walks 😉

my reaction to seeing a new video from you in my feed is universally “oh, lovely”

Fork Deli on Marchmont St - a GEM!
Love the video and can’t wait to try all of these! My favourite haunt will always be Paperback Coffee, on 73 St Mary’s Road in Ealing. It’s full of books for sale that the owner has handpicked and their specialty pastries are to die for!
Oh I can’t WAIT to annoy my friends with this tube station fact
The moment I heard "in a victorian public toilet" I thought: Gotta give that one a try when I'm next in London!
I LOVE WREN COFFEE! Such a beautiful hidden gem 🕊️
If you liked the vibe of The Attendant and are ever in Bristol I can recommend Cloakroom. Also a cafe in an old public toilets, with original tiling.

Delightful little video, feels like getting recommendations from a friend! Will definitely check some of these out

Great idea for a summer day out in ant big city. I might try it in Athens
EXCELLENT idea!!

It’s one of the things that keeps me in town, for sure!
Dans version of a pub-crawl
Given that I now tend do get hungover WHILE drinking, it’s probably for the best
@@DanLayton oh god is that what my 30s have in store for me
@@DanLayton hi Dan 👋
After having the worst day, a slice of Dan is just what my mental health ordered

I love coffee shops as communal spaces. Especially since most of my friends are allergic to my three cats😂
Drink coffee. Eat cake. 👍 Good plan. 😎
It'd be awesome if Daniel would review G!RO in Sussex.
Am making notes for when I go to London for Taylor Swift in a couple of weeks! 📝
"my days in the capital are numbered" alright President Snow
Yay for a new video! :D
cancelling my god forsaken pret membership has turned me into quirky-coffee-shop fanatic. thanks for the recommendations Daniel!
❤
i hate coffee but i loved this vid
hi lad
First!
And also hi, how are you daniel?
I’m alright, thank you!! And thank you for being so quick off the mark 😅
Are you planning to do another video ahead of the next general election? :0
Writing one as we speak!
