  • A glimpse at what we do, and it’s what we’ve been doing for over a hundred years. There’s the the old Foden that’s been around for 56 years, contrast that with a brand new Sennebogen 835E, 45 tonne materials handler, a 1000 tonne Copex shear that’s almost new. We had snow a couple of times while I was making this video, you see what I see when I arrive at 5.30am, I have to get the snowplough on the JCB shovel and plough the yard, then throw salt on to clear to the tarmac, with a steeply sloping yard I can’t run the risk of the wagons arriving to load early and the yard being iced or snowed over. The Sennebogens slide around really badly, the torque reaction to slewing the superstructure makes the chassis rotate on the ice….it’s pretty dangerous. We shear aluminium, we shear steel in the dark and the fog, see the steel steaming because of the heat generated as the blades cut through it. For the tiny minority who feel the need to moan that it’s boring…again-go view something else somewhere else….I really dgaf 😂👍

Wow, great video! Thank you Mark. The weather makes things difficult for you. Though I have to say I love the fog! What do you do with the things like the curtain off the container and the wood that is attached to some metal objects? Some think it´s boring? Amazing, I think it´s so cool watching everything you do. I can´t get enough. A man that looks after his equipment, obviously takes pride in his yard, never anything out of place. Which, no doubt is why that 56 year old Foden is still in service, says a lot! I´ve never seen any with a speck of dirt on them. And I think you like what you do as well. A blessing. Your videos are a treat to watch.

0:10 I like how the framerate of the camera syncs up with the tire tread to make it look like the rear wheel is just sliding across the yard.

Good evening, I am wondering why there are mountains of cast scrap. Is there a slow market, for scrap? Or possibly the price? Or maby the market is soft. Just wondering, Joe Capo.

That big yellow dump truck needs to be repaired or retired ! 🤦‍♂️ It is polluting the air we breathe way too much.🤢 🙋🎅

Try looking at the bigger picture, the Foden dumper runs very infrequently and for very short periods of time, the relatively small amount of smoke it produces annually compared with the pollution that would, or will, have been created in the manufacturing and assembly of its replacement. The amount of CO2 produced in manufacturing new steel, even when using steel scrap as the source for the new steel, is staggering. I think if you consider what we are doing here-all day, every day-unlike most people, however green their credentials allegedly are, a small amount of smoke for a few minutes every now and again, compared with our overall recyling record is a small price to pay and I certainly won't be losing sleep over it. The equipment that works every day is mostly pretty new and using the cleanest and most efficient engine available.
