With maybe the exception of Ratt at their early peak, none of those bands are close to being in Meneketti’s league. Not in vocals, guitar playing, or songwriting.
Y & T didn't have a catchy name. Seen them 3 times in concert, still sounds the same. One time Mike the Drummer had a Broken arm and played one handed, I know Rick Allen from Def Leppard plays one handed due to an accident but he has electronic help. I don't care for the bass player, too much theatrics.

Ronnie James Dio was a big fan of Dave Meniketti - he said he was highly underrated as a vocalist and I couldn't agree more - great guitarist and those vocals still intact 50 years later - respect!
Was never a big Y&T fan but man did they absolutely crush it here live. No forgetting words, ad libbing, singing it/playing it differently than every 80’s band does today. Bravo Mr. Meniketti and band
@@dankrantz4393 yep, I try and see them every year. In Aug in Petaluma he crushed it big time. His shows have always been quality, but he’s 70 man. Meniketti created the early Rock foundation, other great bands, all launched from. How they are not in the Hall of Shame is nothing short of pure lack of knowing what Rock-n-Roll is made from.
Actually ALL the great rockers need to not be in the hall of fame. They deserve better. That place deserves no accolades. It has nothing to do with Rock and Roll! So much talent overlooked over the years so the Bruce Springsteens, and pop band bullshit can stroke their "I got another award" egos. Pretty depressing really.
Growing up in the Bay Area, Y&T had a huge place in my musical life. My buddy and I rode motorcycles down to L.A. to watch a couple of shows in the early 80's and the opening band was Metallica! Was fortunate to see them both again at Day On The Green in '86. Lars and James were big fans, used to play Y&T at soundcheck, and it showed in their music. Mean Street's opening chromatic line was the basis for Master of Puppets and a few more musical cues show up in the first 2 'tallica albums. (Rescue Me/Fade to Black) For the past 40 years or so, I've made it a point to catch a Y&T show whenever they are in town and have never been disappointed. 🔥🔥🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘

Axl was drunk and the crowd boo'd them offstage after 3 songs. Saw them all over MTV a few months later and bought Appetite on cassette. The good old days.

One of the very few guys from this era that still belongs on a rock n roll stage. This band never got the glory it deserved.
One of the most criminally under-rated bands in the history of rock. Should have been as big and famous as Crue, Poison, Ratt, et al.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride
Agreed. I saw them many times in L.A. in the 80s. Such a great band. Absolutely superior to 99% of what was out there, which was mostly crap.
