As a mailman I take pride in my work. We work hard and deliver thousands of pieces a day, in any condition. We have aging trucks, equipment, etc. The people are what make this job great! We just need a little help, the post office never lost money, we only made it by having efficient and affordable SERVICE. That’s what I hope people know is that, while you May get a package or mail piece incorrectly, but it’s only .01% of our daily deliveries for the day. Thank you to those who still support us to this day!

We need to decide if the USPS is a business or a government public service, it's trying to be both. If it's a business then let it set the rates it needs to function. If a gov. service then pay the freight to keep it running.

USPS is something that Trump touched with his little dirty fingers and made it a political issue. Now that it is a political issue, there isn't going to be a logical and rational discussion. Now the discussion is whether USPS should or should not exist rather than how it should exist. Congress fucked USPS with 2007 bill, so they should bail them out or retire the law.

I run a small business too. Maybe this is a time for readjustment. Trucking companies insurance rates doubled this year and a lot of them are closed/closing. But, a couple of fleet of vans and dependable workers in all states can replace them. A new private owned logistics service can easily rise from this (maybe even a few). The post office can downsize and the people can take ownership instead of being unemployed/underemployed. 🤔

Or the usps can get approval from congress to only fund future retirement accounts as needed and withdraw the money for pensioners never even born yet.Raise its rates competitively for fist class mail, quit giving amazon a sweetheart deal who's attempting to replace the usps with its own workers and drones anyways (so believing amazon will be with usps in the distant future is dreaming anyways) and as necessary have every other day mail delivery in the rural areas and stop with the overtime. Now Trump whos declared bankruptcy 6 times with his "big brain" is incapable of fixing it.

Other businesses are thriving but they are not necessarily stable. The post office is unaffected by the decline of stock market as it should be. It’s still the United States greatest connector. I wonder how things would change if it were funded 50 years in advance. Maybe it’s time to think it through again and see if trump could draft another bill to loosen up unused funds.

Also worth noting that many military veterans get their medications delivered by mail. FedEx and UPS typically don't deliver outside of cities and adjacent suburbs, relying on USPS for the last leg of the journey; without the Post Office, any veteran who lives in a more rural area is going to have major problems getting medications delivered.. By the way, the Post Office actually employs roughly a 100,000 military vets, and about 60,000 black women.

I think that the post office does a pretty darn good job at getting mail to us, but a lot of companies are having trouble funding their pension requirements. The Social Security trust fund isn't in great shape either last I heard. The retirement age of 65 worked well when people were only living into their late 60s, but now people are living into their 80s and beyond. That's a good thing, but most pension plans weren't designed to deal with that. Congress and the President are going to have to come to some agreement on what can be done because we need the post office to be functional well past this September.

Lobbyists pushed to take portions of the USPS packaging and freight for decades. USPS was mostly left with the least profitable mail and parcels.
Even though USPS delivers a huge portion of last-leg for their competitors - at a loss, because USPS is Constitutionally directed to deliver, whereas competitors aren't.
Congress' Prefunding Mandate exists to choke the USPS out and chop it up to sell to the competitors - or, failing that, privatize it into massive profitability.
Repealing the Prefunding Mandate, or even walking it back to 10yr instead of 75 would give the USPS back its own money that Congress stole. Billions in self-generated revenue.
But instead, the White House installed three Privatizers within a year. When all it would take is modifying or repealing the Prefunding Mandate.

Congress should fund the service, and implement a mail registry; the NALC, NRALC and APWU should cooperate to lobby for these things. And much more.
To all who don't know: City letter carriers' starting pay was *cut* by nearly 30% as of November 2013, and has never been substantively increased. Rural carriers have suffered a similar loss in pay. It's atrocious.

If it shuts down millions of people in rural areas, businesses and areas out of profitable reach from UPS and FedEx will be left without any service. If you want to see what happens when you only let only for profit companies operate service, look at the broadband gap in the US. WITHOUT THE POST OFFICE, WE CANNOT HAVE A DEMOCRACY, without the post office, we cannot be a country. It is the single most important organization in these United States and the most neglected, it saddens me to see us sink and neglect such an important organization in our daily lives. For anyone hired after 1984 there really are no more pensions.
A Letter Carrier in the Federal Employees Retirement System gets the following:
    1) An annuity that the workers pay into, around $22,000/year.
    2) Social Security that the workers pay into.
    3) Thrift Savings Plan, basically the government's 401k that the workers pay into.
    4) Workers have to help pay for health insurance.

This was the second part of this story. The first part was under Regan
was to privatize packages so Fedex and UPS to grab business from the
USPS to cripple it. The how to cripple is that UPSP and FEDEX are
putting their losing deliveries that aren't profitable into the USPS
system at postal rates, because they have to deliver at every address in
the US no matter what the cost. Ask all those people who get letters
for way under a dollar out in delivery runs that go for hundreds of
miles. The only reason they didn't get first class mail was it was
against the law for any private company to deliver it. The USPS funding
for their retirement system 75 years into the future to finish the job
so the Republicans can privatize the entire system and charge $5.00 a
letter and so on. If the USPS was allowed to bank the money as any other
company they would be profitable and solvent. Then the workers working
for them wouldn't get the benefits. With it privatized it takes
accountability out of the We the People so it can be controlled
politically by a group without any stops on it. This BS was to stop
now. Try this get a group of people and get a show of hands how many
know when their mail comes or have been to a post office. Ask with a
show of hands how many have been to a police station, fire station, or
to city hall. There are only two government services that get 100 per
cent show of hands is the USPS and Schools, actually maybe not schools
some people have been home schooled. This shows you how important the
USPS is important in people's lives. I'm fighting and my partner is in a
ad on Facebook fight for the Post Office, I did one too, however, its
not up yet. So I'm not asking to do something I'm not doing. Fight now
