Well I've been listening to Camina Burana for years...I'm in my late sixties....and I have read the translation from Latin to English and now this short video on the music composition adds more enjoyment. Thank you.
Formal Victoria Chamber Choir singer from the early 90s here. Preparing to sing CB in April in Detroit, USA where I currently live. Thanks for this breakdown and explanation. One day I'd love to return and audition for your choir.
The climax where they sing “sors salutis” is one octave higher. We used to have such a hard time transitioning to that because we had to start screaming on the climactic part 🤣
Loved the intro and explanation of the Carmina. I think while Orff's Carmina is popular, he is underestimated as a composer. The piece draws one in so that one really isn't aware of the wonderful, complex musical structure that Orff implements to do that. I think your explanation does a really great job in highlighting the underlying musical genius. Thanks!!
First listened to Carmina Burana watching a UA-cam 18+ bombing video. I then progressed to randomly see a Flash Mob gang perform, at an airport - Which was great too! I could not begin to understand what the piece was all about or make sense of it. The sad bombing and the happy airport scene being at totally opposite ends of any life. I did a bit of research and found little, so left it there. Get the wheel bit and the breaking down of the music is appreciated - Thank you When is part 2, 3 and 4 being explained?
Its a poem from a compilation of works by Roman leader Boethius. O Fortuna is about the wheel of fate bringing success or misery indiscriminately, and was written while he awaited his execution after being charged with treason.
I just listened in person to Carmina Burana yesterday night from a choir and I am really thankful for your explanations!
Thank you, this is very clearly explained.
Great explanation for music lovers like me who do not understand the theory

Deconstructing music can sometimes kill the magic, but your explanation only added to it.

The bloke knows what he's talking about
Sometimes the rose...

Lucifer really is much more wiser than Daniel as the Word of God states... WOW!!
Care to explain? I don't understand
how old is this song???
Some men like cheese
Hot temperate cheese
Green chalk can taste like hippies
You caught two rocks?
Pet two cool rats.
You don't get cheese or chicken !
So is this a rebels song against church or war exactly??
No it’s not
You would need to break down the whole performance to understand this little piece

goes well with time in which the work was written, surrealizm was the thing then, with impressionizm used as the other core of this choral music
