Great video as always, Im about to get the iphone 14 pro max. And Im looking for the best screen protector for it. I had heard that scratches are what actually lead to cracks. Do you know if this is true or not? Thanks!
@@TheTechReviewer I purchased this, on an iPhone 15 Pro Max. They seem to have reverted back to the old frame. Shellrus installation isn't the smoothest, but I have no complaints about the frame.
I have an 11 pro max that ive been using every day since it came out.. i have a shellrus protector on it. my screen feels like brand new . not even a slight scratch anywhere. can look at it in the sun and its perfect. will be getting this for my 14 pro max 1tb
Wish I had used your 10% off! Paid full price but the screen protector is truly awesome! The installation is not super easy but the screen protector is very soft/smooth to the touch, covers the entire screen, compatible with my Moshi case, looks phenomenal (can barely see it is there), and very scratch resistant. Highly recommend!!
Sorry to hear that you missed out on the promo code! It's quite an expensive product. However, if you are looking for something with phenomenal scratch resistance and a great edge to edge look and feel, there is a lot to love here!! So happy to hear that you are loving yours!!
I am still using Shellrus on my over a year 13 pro max and it is still flawless. The oleophobic coating is completely intact! I am looking for a matte tempered glass for my 14 pro max, any suggestions? Great review as expected
Thanks so much, Mark. Appreciate you sharing your experience with Shellrus! As far as matte tempered glass screen protectors are concerned, I don't really have any suggestions to pass on. I have only reviewed a few matte screen protectors over the years...I personally dislike using a screen protector with a matte finish. They are great for sunlight visibility, but I don't like the look and feel of that sort of finish. Just my personal preference, though. I'm a regular clear screen protector person all the way. No privacy, no matte!
Do you recommend this or do you love another one? I hate screen protectors on my phone but my 14 Max is coming in the mail on Tuesday and I do not want it scratched. I have an XS Max and I put something on it that you just wipe on and it held up pretty good. Would love to know the one that you love that's thin and works.
Hi Melanie! Sorry to be slow to respond to you...I was sick with Covid! So, you say you hate screen protectors on your phone? I wonder if you have tried tempered glass (or fancy sapphire!), or you are just familiar with plastic film screen protectors. Plastic film screen protectors are not really a pleasure to have on your phone. They scratch easily, show fingerprints, smear easily and typically have slightly reduced optical clarity. Good quality tempered glass screen protectors and those made from upscale sapphire aren't going to diminish your iPhone usage experience. They are going to feel as good, or better, than your native iPhone screen, and optical clarity should be undiminished. If you choose one that is really thin and edge to edge like the Shellrus Sapphire screen protector in this video, it won't really look like a screen protector is on there at all...at least until you look closely. These sorts of screen protectors (both tempered glass and sapphire) look great and feel great and have a high resistance to scratches. However, they are not great against impact. You wouldn't expect glass...even tempered glass...to be that tough against impact, and it isn't. So, if you sustain a hard blow directly to the screen, the screen protector may break (and hopefully your screen underneath will not). What might seem a little more surprising is that Sapphire is not really any better than tempered glass against impact. Sapphire's real talent is in being extremely hard to scratch. Tempered glass is hard to scratch...Sapphire is much harder to scratch. Pretty much only diamond is going to be able to scratch it. So if you want a screen protector which is probably going to incur zero scratches over time (again, depending on conditions), then this is the best choice that I know of. It's also a bit of a luxury purchase...having a real gemstone as your screen protector...and it has a slightly colder feel to it than tempered glass. However...if you are not absolutely fixated on zero scratches over time, there are a lot of good choices in the world of tempered glass screen protectors. ZAGG makes great tempered glass screen protectors that come with excellent installers and a very good replacement warranty, and they are going to cost significantly less than this Sapphire option. My favorite is their ZAGG Glass XTR2: ua-cam.com/video/GmBug6GMd-0/v-deo.html Of course these tempered glass screen protectors are going to scratch a bit easier, but not that easily. And the price differential may be worth it to you. Best of luck, and enjoy your new iPhone! Happy holidays!
@@TheTechReviewer Thank you so much for the response. I hate scratches but I did read where people cracked their Shellrus screen within a week without dropping it so it does concern me due to the cost, I know there are a few different brands (knockoffs I guess you could say) and I thought about getting that one but I am just not sure. I'd spend the money on the Shellrus if I knew it wouldn't crack from me just bumping the phone. Hmm what to do....Glad you're feeling better. Merry Christmas.
Hi Melanie! So, my husband had a Shellrus Sapphire on his 12 mini for more than a year, and it got zero scratches, zero cracks...everything was great until he dropped it on an escalator and cracked it fatally. It, and the OtterBox Symmetry case he was using, protected the phone and there was no damage to the device. He got a 14 Pro this fall and I put a Shellrus Sapphire on it. It's been on there for about 3 months, and there have been zero issues. When people talk about their Shellrus Sapphire cracking in a week with no drops, I wonder if they are using a case in conjunction with the screen protector. Because if you are using the Shellrus Sapphire on a naked iPhone, I could see it whacking into something and breaking... Good luck with your decision...I hope this helps a little!! And happy 2023!
Please help me make a decision. I’m about to buy this sapphire screen protector but i couldn’t find any answer if it has a good anti reflective layer like some premium tempered glass protectors i’ve seen. That’s what I am looking for bc my current screen protector is sooo reflective it suckss

Hi Edson! Nice to hear from you! You mean no longer using a watermark in the bottom left corner? Yes, they have discontinued that. Hope you are having a lovely holiday season!

Hi Michael! Yeah, the scratch resistance is really impressive, but of course, it is breakable. Sorry about the chip! The more scratch resistant something is, the more brittle it is...
I too have 0 scratches not even micro scratches when viewed in the sun .. after almost 3 years on my 11 pro max but.. this past winter I was tying mY daughters skates and she picked up her skate and it accidentally touched the edge of my phone case that was poking out of my jacket. It chipped it slightly and led to a hairline crack.. but it hasn’t spread at all. I planned to get another.. but I knew I was going to go with the 14. Can’t wait to get mine for the new one ! 👍🏼

Absolutely hate these, I have paid for 2 so far, just tried to install the replacement and boom a bunch of air bubbles that won’t come out, just buy a spigen for like a 1/4 the price and doesn’t trap any air bubbles
Hi Kyle! So sorry you have had such a negative experience with the Shellrus Sapphire. In my experience, while it is possible to get bubbles during the installation process, they are removable with a bit of patience, and the results are worth it. If there is a dot in the middle of the bubble, that means there is piece of dust trapped there, and you have to lift up the side of the screen protector using the little tool they provide, and remove the offending piece of dust with a dust removal sticker before putting the screen protector back down.
@@TheTechReviewer only one dust bubble near the top of the screen, couldn’t get the air bubbles out no matter how many times I reapplied, but it looks like most of them have worked their way out / almost out
OK, thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear that you are feeling more kindly toward the Shellrus Sapphire, Kyle! I know screen protectors can be super irritating and anxiety producing to put on. I have a lot more experience than most people in installing screen protectors, and even I have to be slow, careful and methodical to get good results. 😊
