I am now 90 years old. As a young child I was taught that prayer is the lifting of the heart and the mind to God. So I knelt by my window, looking out at the sky and talked to God. Many years later when I became disengaged from my church I simply stopped praying. I did not pray for 30 years! Then I (somehow??) bumped into Satha Sai Baba. Wow! I went to India twice, before I realized that Sai Baba is always right here with me, so I don't have to go anywhere to talk to him. Now we never stop talking. I have this constant companion. I no longer ask for things or for help. My prayers are all thanks and appreciation for being here now, on this beautiful earth.
Sai Baba has the best stories ever. What a true master. He is incredible. I learned long ago that prayer is "talking" to God (my preference is source energy) and meditation is "listening" to God. People go to church and talk every week and can't get their prayers answered because they are not open enough to meditation or quieting the mind long enough to let "God" to come in and give them a message, a thought, an image, or an impulse that will lead them to manifest that which they desire. Stilling the mind and focusing on NOTHING is the key to feeling the presence of the Universe and raising your vibration to match that to which you want. Only then can prayers be answered or responded to.
I remember being at the park with my husband and there was a little boy who was probably 4 or 5 years old, running in the grass. It was a clear sunny day and there was a nice breeze. Nature was in all it's glory. The little boy suddenly stopped in the middle of the park, stood still and closed his eyes. He had a little smile on his face. He probably stood there for a good few minutes until his dad came by and asked why he was just standing there. I honestly feel like that boy was just enjoying being human and feeling all of the elements around him. Maybe he was having a bit of a meditation in his own way. I feel like this is what we're all instinctually wired to do. His dad interrupted the experience and he started running again. It was almost like the dad subconsciously put the expectation on the boy that something must be wrong if he's being still. I think many people have the fear of stillness and reflection or just the ability to be present. The fear develops as we grow and get older then taught to our children that they always need to be busy and distracted.
The art of silence or "not doing" is highly undervalued in our fast-paced culture. Most children today seem over stimulated, though they inherently have the greatest capacity for peace. I long for the days of pure, unadulterated childhood bliss 😊

Alex, I have listened to many, many of your podcasts. I was with you on this one until you said that doing psychedelics is like walking through a doorway that you were not invited into. I am 57 years old now and had never done a psychedelic until 5 years ago. I had never even heard the word ayahuasca until 2017. Of course, I knew about LSD and magic mushrooms but had never felt like they were for me, in fact I had never even considered taking any psychedelic. From the minute I found out about ayahuasca I knew I had to go to the medicine. It was a calling like I had never experienced before. So I beg to differ with you, some of us are very much “invited in”. I agree that it is not for everyone, but for some, including myself, it is life changing. Don’t get me wrong, my life was good before but the connection I felt to nature and the entire universe, not to mention unconditional love for myself and everyone else was profound. I had been on a spiritual journey my whole adult life and I had given birth to 3 children which is also a spiritual experience. Honestly though, the experience with this plant medicine was the most profound and spiritual experience of my life. I take issue with your guest calling it a “short cut”. I have never dealt with depression or addiction and would be considered a “healthy normal” but you guys need to educate yourselves on just how many people have been helped through the experience that psychedelics offer. Many people who were so distraught that they were planning to take their own lives have been saved and now have a wonderful quality of life because of their experience with psychedelics. My issue is with the dismissive tone that was used here likely by two people who have never experienced the medicine at all, or perhaps have never heard the call. There are many paths to enlightenment, plant medicine may not be your path but it can certainly be a path for others who are called to the experience.
Thank you for your clarification. I have wondered about this option. I can't say that I have a strong calling to this option ...maybe because it is not easily available, but also because of fear and social perspective. Somehow, I have had a belief that it is a cheat ...that I need to DO the WORK.
I've never tried psychedelics and I don't feel drawn to take them but I see where you're coming from. Psilocybin and ayahuasca have been taken by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years and is part of their cultural practices for a reason. They have developed rituals and support systems around it. When their cultures were vilified by settlers, their medicine was also vilified. That stigma still lingers today. I believe psychedelics are useful for many people who might see it as medicine and not as useful for those who just want to play around with it. The same way we give diabetes medication to people who need it and not those who want to take it for fun. Everyone is trying to figure out their own paths in life.
Tracie Lathem, thank you for your perspective; & I believe you. We're all different, & there is not one way but a plethora of paths toward finding enlightenment & for you to feel drawn to it, I say bravo & I'm quite pleased your intuition led you there.
I give Alex one year and he will most likely change his thoughts on psychedelics! Lol. I just had this thought about him the other day…. I love seeing how things unfold for new souls on this path. He reminds me of me 10 years ago with all the questions. It’s a beautiful unfolding.

The "challenges" are actually OPPORTUNITIES to question, to turn inward, thus discovering that it has always only been US creating ALL "suffering" through our own thoughts! Once you peel the layers away via meditation, self inquiry, you finally See that there was never ANY separate person there experiencing anything! We wiped down our groceries as a precaution because scientist were still unsure how it spreads. Once they knew it didn’t spread in this manner we stopped wiping down groceries.
As someone who has pierced the veil a couple of times naturally, the experience can be frightening. For me, I was in a very joyous and child like state, but felt like I wanted to just go and fly away (this happened to me in a grocery store of all places) but I did ground myself before this happened. That day I found out that we are the door, lock, and key. Be ready before you ask to open the door. It was a fascinating experience but one I would only want in moderation until I can be more present.
I went on this spiritual path after I lost my husband! I started meditation, what a wild ride! I met spiritual beings I believe were my guides! I was opened! I was awake! I was obsessed for 6 years, read everyday, studied from morning to evening! I had amazing experiences which I will never forget, still remembering every details!

I felt called to the Redwoods back in 2016. When we got there... sigh, it felt like being amongst wise old elders. When I touched one specific massive tree, I heard Aneeshna... Aneesh or Anish is Hindu, but it could be greek Anessha ,not sure what the na or nah is?, not the first time I have received words or terms from languages I do not know. This specific time, I got the strong impression they were calling me that as a name of endearment. It was quite a profound experience. ❤

If someone is unkind to me I try to see it from their perspective. Maybe they are having a bad day and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. i try not to take things personally. Very nice reading. I resonated with it. For a point of context, I am deemed by society as "elderly" . So as a little old lady, the old "me" would have passed up viewing a reading from someone who visually represents a rapper, but the more enlightened me said, "let's see what he has to say." I am glad I followed the voice that told me to watch. It makes my heart sing to see others in the world awakened. There is hope.

I read your comments before she got to the part where she comments on psychedelics. I don't know what you heard... But she seemed very open emphasize many times that it was a personal choice, and that she had no judgment against anyone who chose to go that path. But I believe they make a much greater point that you seem to miss and that is this is only a tool and wouldn't it be lovely and wonderful if people could access these experiences without the tool. I feel like you over explained your experience in your position and maybe you need to take a good look at that because it did not align their comments.

The truth and awakening is. ‘Know thyself’, Live happily in the moment causing others no angst. Observe others and see who you aren’t. Others will join … or maybe not for now. The human mind and the economy is real for this world. As we awaken we will organize into equality and change the fears I think. We progress slowly and some throw wrenches into peace.just observe and fear not live the moment with a smile for all. We do have intent to help others wearing a mask, (or not) , but out of love not fear. We are growing right now with this turmoil we see.
Eckhart Tolle says that we can help ourselves reach that higher level of consciousness by "watching the thinker." And what he means by that is just like you do in meditation, when you're living and carrying on about your day you need to realize when you're letting your mind wander in thought...when you do that, observe what you were thinking about and allow yourself to become aware that you need to let that thought go. And KEEP DOING IT every second until you become in that present state naturally. It is re-programming your brain to live NOW instead of allowing ANY thoughts about the past or future influence what is happening NOW.
To have more of such mystical experiences/ psychic abilities/ awakening / enlightenment, a soul needs to keep purifying the chakras continuously and maintain a level of purity (example non-judgemental/ non-injury/ non-lying/honesty etc) - the energies that don't serve any purpose in the forward propelling of the soul... and the more awareness and purification is practiced, more deep rooted energies can sometime bring a stormy experience.
I believe people staunchly defend their beliefs when they are based on the ego. When I truly believe what I say I do, I may try to explain my beliefs, but that's as far as I'll go, others are free to believe what they will.

It is beyond obvious that we’re in a time of massive energetic shifts. Do you think we’d be as far along if we hadn’t experienced the pandemic? Seriously. Fear and pain is the #1 motivations for change, and as a planet we’ve been hella stuck!! If it wasn’t a needed experience, it wouldn’t have happened. It was also a door for many people to exit whose souls contributed to the grand shift by dying, by stirring up fear. Also, people came together like they hadn’t in a very long time. Neighbors helping neighbors. People standing up and creating solutions to new problems. Adapting and overcoming. And being resilient. If Enlightenment is that self realization that you are not your mind or body, but are that observer that can pay attention to either. What does one do with that awareness?…I began to meditate, I found it baffling how difficult it was to stay present… eckhart Tolle in his book “the power of now” he explains how the ego has outgrown its own use, snd that if we don’t transcend it, we will likely destroy ourselves… so with that being said , what do we do with presence, or will that practice open the answer to us automatically?

One thing that I benefited from the pandemic was getting into the routine of wiping down everything is that I find myself now naturally more tidy. Being tidy is very beneficial to my Awakening to the true nature of Being Human.

I grew up in Canada with CBC radio on in the house all the time, now when I listen to it, I see the conditioning it did with my family. Especially my mom who was listening to it the most.

Very good coversation, thank you, I agree that doing the work on ourself, no matter how long it takes, is allowing us to really enjoy our life, to LIVE is our real purpose; and we've decided to reincarnate to this life on earth. I am a practicing catholic, found great church which I love, I still believe in Jesus and God, but the real GOD not he old man with a beard who is the JUDGE. I dont have a conflict with the old and new, I meditate, listen to podcasts like this one, go to church on Sunday.... I try to pick and learn from different sources. By merging all of that I have been able to see myself and others more and more as the "faces" of GOD, the light and love we were created. Thank you Alex for this podcast.
One good idea of getting to know yourself is when you take a shower close your eyes and watch how your body mind takes care of cleansing itself. With practice it's really interesting to see how the body mind is very intelligent.
It seems it’s not as understood or too readily dismissed that plant medicine is exceptionally therapeutic and one can heal something in one session that could take lifetimes to heal .. I used to be so against, I now understand the sacredness of the beings behind these offerings ❤ I’m not talking about getting high ✅ It’s definitely something you embark on with having done some inner work and with someone who is experienced in holding this space

I went through an enlightenment process since last september, I have the truth about reality now, its not good, its not bad, it just is what it is, people have no clue about it, I need a book, so people will take it seriously
I totally get what's being said here. I now realize the ocean gives me my energy. My husband wanted to move to the mountains in Redding CA. Since I've been here I feel so drained...no energy or enthusiasm. I have planted the seed of manifestation to move back to the Monterey Bay where I know I belong and close to my daughter, son in law, family, and friends. Lets see how God helps me make this come to fruition. It's beautiful here but also very hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. My puppy doesn't even like it.
So often I listen to you and the words shared between you and your guest, and I just laugh out loud from sheer joy. On the sidelines, I am commenting aloud...yes..ahh..I KNEW that...say that louder! ..oh my hat..i knew it..and this narrative is quite fascinating...yours obviously..but what is unfolding from within me to me is the bit I am referring to. Some of this sounds partly like Animism which is something I believe in. But learning new ways is part of our growing. I totally agree with searching within ourselves, no matter how much darkness is there weather from past hurts and other things. It's something I do on a regular basis. You must go through the darkness and clean it out so you can find the true light in you once again. Blessings Be
It amazes me that the woman still can't explain to people how to awaken or how we know. This is what I struggle with I live in the present as disabled and spend alot of time on my own. I'm very aware of things and sense of smell and hearing and I listen. I understand that theory of quantum means that we are not really solid. I totally think deeply about questions of the universe and spirituality. However I still am not sure if there is something after death. I want to believe it 😊

It is so true. I started doing this awakening spirituality process past year, and my senses have heightened my taste buds my hearing my what I’m seeing through my heart not my eyes I just have a whole new being about me of my awareness. It’s weird it’s a weird feeling it’s a good feeling as far as psychedelics goes. I’ve been a drug addict and alcoholic for over 30 years gone rehabs done it all done it all time and time again nothing worked AA meetings nothing worked. I did mushrooms a few times and I’ve been sober clean cigarettes, booze, drugs, free for a year and that’s only a couple of times of doing mushrooms I challenge anybody I challenge anybody to try mushrooms and watch what it does with that. Watch what it does to you. It will connect you if it will. It will connect you to levels of speed you want you can get you everybody’s different everybody’s different, but it is a positive that you get out of it there’s nothing negative you’re going to get out of it.

Separation is an illusion. WE created EVERY "challenge" they we each experience. We are all sparks of Divinity, spiritual beings having an earthly experience.
We wiped down our groceries as a precaution because scientist were still unsure how it spreads. Once they knew it didn’t spread in this manner we stopped wiping down groceries.
As someone who has pierced the veil a couple of times naturally, the experience can be frightening. For me, I was in a very joyous and child like state, but felt like I wanted to just go and fly away (this happened to me in a grocery store of all places) but I did ground myself before this happened.
That day I found out that we are the door, lock, and key. Be ready before you ask to open the door. It was a fascinating experience but one I would only want in moderation until I can be more present.

I went on this spiritual path after I lost my husband! I started meditation, what a wild ride! I met spiritual beings I believe were my guides! I was opened! I was awake! I was obsessed for 6 years, read everyday, studied from morning to evening! I had amazing experiences which I will never forget, still remembering every details!
How do you meet your guides? I do meditation daily, I have asked for signs, and nothing has happened.

This specific time, I got the strong impression they were calling me that as a name of endearment.

I respect everyone and all belief systems. What is right for me may not be right for you. We are all valuable and deserving of love and compassion. If someone is unkind to me I try to see it from their perspective. Maybe they are having a bad day and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. i try not to take things personally. Very nice reading. I resonated with it. For a point of context, I am deemed by society as "elderly" . So as a little old lady, the old "me" would have passed up viewing a reading from someone who visually represents a rapper, but the more enlightened me said, "let's see what he has to say." I am glad I followed the voice that told me to watch. It makes my heart sing to see others in the world awakened. There is hope.

I read your comments before she got to the part where she comments on psychedelics. I don't know what you heard... But she seemed very open emphasize many times that it was a personal choice, and that she had no judgment against anyone who chose to go that path. But I believe they make a much greater point that you seem to miss and that is this is only a tool and wouldn't it be lovely and wonderful if people could access these experiences without the tool. I feel like you over explained your experience in your position and maybe you need to take a good look at that because it did not align their comments.

This was soo good. This convo is like a manifestion of my inner dialog and questions. Absolutely had me locked in nodding my head like "yes exactly, thats what i been saying" 😂😂😂
The truth and awakening is. ‘Know thyself’, Live happily in the moment causing others no angst. Observe others and see who you aren’t. Others will join … or maybe not for now. The human mind and the economy is real for this world. As we awaken we will organize into equality and change the fears I think. We progress slowly and some throw wrenches into peace.just observe and fear not live the moment with a smile for all. We do have intent to help others wearing a mask, (or not) , but out of love not fear. We are growing right now with this turmoil we see.
Eckhart Tolle says that we can help ourselves reach that higher level of consciousness by "watching the thinker." And what he means by that is just like you do in meditation, when you're living and carrying on about your day you need to realize when you're letting your mind wander in thought...when you do that, observe what you were thinking about and allow yourself to become aware that you need to let that thought go. And KEEP DOING IT every second until you become in that present state naturally. It is re-programming your brain to live NOW instead of allowing ANY thoughts about the past or future influence what is happening NOW.
To have more of such mystical experiences/ psychic abilities/ awakening / enlightenment, a soul needs to keep purifying the chakras continuously and maintain a level of purity (example non-judgemental/ non-injury/ non-lying/honesty etc) - the energies that don't serve any purpose in the forward propelling of the soul... and the more awareness and purification is practiced, more deep rooted energies can sometime bring a stormy experience.
I believe people staunchly defend their beliefs when they are based on the ego. When I truly believe what I say I do, I may try to explain my beliefs, but that's as far as I'll go, others are free to believe what they will.

That was fun. She reminds me of my siblings during 60’s-80’s. Being open yet still have little bit of catholic fears and I’m the only one who didn’t attend catholic school because of my hearing handicap and they told me that I demonstrated my love which made them question their catholic beliefs and fears. It is beyond obvious that we’re in a time of massive energetic shifts. Do you think we’d be as far along if we hadn’t experienced the pandemic? Seriously. Fear and pain is the #1 motivations for change, and as a planet we’ve been hella stuck!! If it wasn’t a needed experience, it wouldn’t have happened. It was also a door for many people to exit whose souls contributed to the grand shift by dying, by stirring up fear. Also, people came together like they hadn’t in a very long time. Neighbors helping neighbors. People standing up and creating solutions to new problems. Adapting and overcoming. And being resilient. I love that the conversation around mental health has never been more open and commonplace. That said, I highly recommend walking a healing path. ❤️🙏🏻
If Enlightenment is that self realization that you are not your mind or body, but are that observer that can pay attention to either. What does one do with that awareness?…I began to meditate, I found it baffling how difficult it was to stay present… eckhart Tolle in his book “the power of now” he explains how the ego has outgrown its own use, snd that if we don’t transcend it, we will likely destroy ourselves… so with that being said , what do we do with presence, or will that practice open the answer to us automatically?

I grew up in Canada with CBC radio on in the house all the time, now when I listen to it, I see the conditioning it did with my family. Especially my mom who was listening to it the most.
I love the authenticity of Ora! There are so many things spoken in this wonderful interview that I totally resonate with. I love to take time every day to just be present in the moment, and to feel that beautiful peace within me. I am a spiritual person so for me meditating, being in nature and connecting every day to the Love and Light of Source is what I love to do, and when it comes to technology what I am grateful for, is for being able to watch and learn from this amazing podcast and it's wonderful guests! Technology has it's beauty, but you have to use it wisely!

Very good coversation, thank you, I agree that doing the work on ourself, no matter how long it takes, is allowing us to really enjoy our life, to LIVE is our real purpose; and we've decided to reincarnate to this life on earth. I am a practicing catholic, found great church which I love, I still believe in Jesus and God, but the real GOD not he old man with a beard who is the JUDGE. I dont have a conflict with the old and new, I meditate, listen to podcasts like this one, go to church on Sunday.... I try to pick and learn from different sources. One good idea of getting to know yourself is when you take a shower close your eyes and watch how your body mind takes care of cleansing itself. With practice it's really interesting to see how the body mind is very intelligent.
It seems it’s not as understood or too readily dismissed that plant medicine is exceptionally therapeutic and one can heal something in one session that could take lifetimes to heal ..
I used to be so against, I now understand the sacredness of the beings behind these offerings ❤

I went through an enlightenment process since last september, I have the truth about reality now, its not good, its not bad, it just is what it is, people have no clue about it, I need a book, so people will take it seriously

I totally get what's being said here. I now realize the ocean gives me my energy. My husband wanted to move to the mountains in Redding CA. Since I've been here I feel so drained...no energy or enthusiasm. I have planted the seed of manifestation to move back to the Monterey Bay where I know I belong and close to my daughter, son in law, family, and friends. Lets see how God helps me make this come to fruition. It's beautiful here but also very hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. My puppy doesn't even like it.
The path to enlightenment can be short. I think if you believe it will take a long time, it will.
So often I listen to you and the words shared between you and your guest, and I just laugh out loud from sheer joy. On the sidelines, I am commenting aloud...yes..ahh..I KNEW that...say that louder! ..oh my hat..i knew it..and this narrative is quite fascinating...yours obviously..but what is unfolding from within me to me is the bit I am referring to. Some of this sounds partly like Animism which is something I believe in. But learning new ways is part of our growing. I totally agree with searching within ourselves, no matter how much darkness is there weather from past hurts and other things. It's something I do on a regular basis. It amazes me that the woman still can't explain to people how to awaken or how we know. This is what I struggle with I live in the present as disabled and spend alot of time on my own. I'm very aware of things and sense of smell and hearing and I listen. I understand that theory of quantum means that we are not really solid. I totally think deeply about questions of the universe and spirituality. However I still am not sure if there is something after death. I want to believe it 😊

It is so true. I started doing this awakening spirituality process past year, and my senses have heightened my taste buds my hearing my what I’m seeing through my heart not my eyes I just have a whole new being about me of my awareness. It’s weird it’s a weird feeling it’s a good feeling as far as psychedelics goes. I’ve been a drug addict and alcoholic for over 30 years gone rehabs done it all done it all time and time again nothing worked AA meetings nothing worked. I did mushrooms a few times and I’ve been sober clean cigarettes, booze, drugs, free for a year and that’s only a couple of times of doing mushrooms I challenge anybody I challenge anybody to try mushrooms and watch what it does with that. Watch what it does to you. It will connect you if it will. It will connect you to levels of speed you want you can get you everybody’s different everybody’s different, but it is a positive that you get out of it there’s nothing negative you’re going to get out of it.

Hi, Alex, I love your podcast. It’s providing me with extended understanding. This guest, however, I felt was spouting opinions vociferously in the last portion that are just opinions, and it was a little bit much for me.

When I had my awakening back in 2012 I didn’t really feel like that when I heard found out the truth and then I came to a realization that they were taught the same thing that they taught me and you can’t really hold that against anybody
