I don't get it why the majority of people are buying real instead of synthetic ruby?
Synthetic ruby is not a fake ruby. It have the same hardness and color and molecular structure and same fashion capabilities but at a fraction of the price.
Something is wrong with this jewelry industry. And, for sure, customers are not well informed.

100% agree. It really irritates me when someone says that lab created stones are "fake". They are made with the exact same elements as naturally grown rubies from the earth. If anything, lab grown rubies are in fact "pure rubies" because they don't have any excess materials thrown in by nature that could affect the structure of the ruby.
Sometimes lab grown gems are either made from elements or they are grown from a smaller version of the gemstone itself, which in fact makes it very genuine in itself.

I buy gems because they are pretty, but lots of people buy them for the status symbol, and thats the reason why they want a natural ruby, it's more expensive. Like the Iphone.

Your comments make you real amateurs. The main reason for a price is based on RARITY. A carat of Lab made rubies costs between $0.05 and 0.40, depending on the manufacturer and, indeed, they are flawless. Nowadays, synthetic gemstone manufacturers are fabricating rubies, emeralds, sapphires, alexandrites, etc. with inclusions, also. How often can you find in nature a pure ruby, with no inclusions? The answer to this is the answer to your questions.

@@auction4803 I did not argued on "why real stone are not the same price as synthetic ones".
I argue about the fact that I don't understand why a majority of "ordinary peoples" are paying a salty premium without getting ANY esthetical added value.
Sure, paying the double for the "rarity" of a random object make sense. But here, unless you are a fine jewel collector, I don't understand why "regular people" would pay well above 1000 times for two identical looking stones!!!
My only conclusion is that "regular peoples" still think that a lab grown ruby is a "fake, colored glass or zircon ruby", even if both are 100% real ruby down to the atomic structure!
The industry prefer to keep the customer in ignorance because of obvious economics reasons. Somehow, it makes me smile and thinks about the church Vs Galileo "E pur si muove!"

Ruby with glass added is considered a created stone. It is never acceptable to call a glass filled stone natural. That is one reason I won't accept an AIGS stone, their criteria is not as high as GIA criteria.

    • @ArmandCury
      @ArmandCury 5 років тому +5

Hmmm. In fact, GIA has a specific term for that. They call glass added ruby as a "manufactured product".
      But, I stil agree.

Hi, thank you for your comment.
The best way to find out whether your ruby is natural or synthetic is to send your stone to our advanced lab for further checking.
But we do advise you to come and take our "Synthetic and Treatment" course if you are dealing in the gemstone business.
In this course, we will teach you how to tell the difference between natural and synthetic gemstones and how they are different from various locations.
Please feel free to visit our website for more information on our institute and and laboratory.

Natural rubies are too small to be visually enjoyed. I will any day pick a factory created large one. They are qualitatively the best possible and the cost is too tempting. At around 2usd you can have a 1 cm gem. Natural ones are lentil seed size and you will always be frightened if such an expensive one will fall when observing, misplaced or robbed. Besides of course gem mining is environmental hazard and waste of human life.

Dig one out of a old ring. There are no real mined ruby's. Everything is glass or lab now. A real natural one carat cost around 20 to 30000 US dollars.
