I used to watch Bonds and Redknapp in the '60s team; Bonds at that time was a right back with attacking flair, and with Harry's pace outside him on the wing, together they could frighten any defence. When they linked up as manager and assistant, it seemed a great combination which reflected West Ham's traditional "family" approach. Unfortunately for Billy, Harry was the better manager (as their future careers proved), so I can see why the directors, faced with losing him, wanted to promote and keep him at Upton Park.
