Weber Spirit E-210 BBQ Follow Up - 18 Months Later

  • We see many reviews of products when they are new, but what about a year or two into the life of an item? This video goes through my experience with the Weber Spirit E-210 LP BBQ and how it has held up over 18 months. I have also shared the way I clean the BBQ. The cleaning portion was in the spring after a cooking throughout the winter, so lots of buildup. I hope you find this video as helpful.

    Thank you for the opportunity and value of seeing how a pressure washer would remove a high level of grease content on a BBQ, as
    I am considering the purchase of an entry level pressure washer as well and also considering replacing my older Weber Q3200 BBQ.

    We love our Weber grills. The cheap brands would only last about 2 years before needing repairs and then you can never find exact replacement parts. We own 3 Weber grills and can always find the exact part we need to bring it back to like-new condition and performance. Well worth the investment

      I always told myself that I would only use a charcoal grill, After purchasing this Weber Spirt 2 I will never go back to charcoal! Great grill!

    Thank you for the great follow up review video. I look forward to the 3-5 year review! Much appreciate your efforts and the tips with cleaning with the pressure washer. Just some follow up questions: How often do you clean the grill (1 or 2 times a season)? Did you have to use any sort of detergent or degreaser prior to pressure washing? Did you notice that the stainless steel surfaces developing "surface rust" that needs to be cleaned off? Is it possible to remove the cook box out of the stand, remove the burners, remove the manifold before pressure washing? Thanks again.

      Hello and thank you for your feedback and questions. I typically give the grill a thorough cleaning 2-3 times a year where I take burners out and then pressure wash. Numerous other times I just do a simple scraping of the cook box to get rid of minor buildup. I have not noticed any rusting on any stainless steel parts as of yet. The cook box can be removed, but I see no advantage to removing it from the legs/stand. Take care and happy grilling!

      Thank you! I think it was around 500 deg when we first fired it up. I don't recall going higher, nor have I had a need to.

    Weber continues to bite the hands that feed them by downgrading their Spirit II grills, first by discontinuing colors, and most recently by discontinuing iGrill 3 compatibility.
    I have sworn by Weber grills for approximately 50 of my 71 years, but now at my age, the last grill I will probably buy will definitely not be a Weber.

    This is a Weber Spirit 2 E-210, different from the Weber Spirit E-210. More features.

      The Spirit 2 E-210 has doors to access the propane tank and both side tables fold down. I believe that is the two major differences from the Spirit E-210.

    Too bad the original Weber covers are so ridiculously expensive... when I bought my E-210 10-12 years ago the grill was $300 and the cover $80-90.... now I think around $110...did buy cheap aftermarket that I´ve replaced instead, but what I´ve heard the original dont hold up that good for the cost... Live in Sweden btw

      Hello Sweden and thanks for the reply! Yes, prices have gone up significantly on both the BBQ and accessories. Even the grease drip trays have gone from $6.99 to $10.99 for 6 here in Canada in the last 3 years.

    Does the 10 year warranty cover those rusting components?

      Hi, the warranty covers 10 years on the cook box for rust or burn through and the same on the lid, but only 2 years on paint issues and fading.

      Yeah, it was pretty bad. Let's just say I had some household members using it that were happy to cook on it, but not so interested in cleaning it.

      I agree, but in Canada our winters are long and cold, so cleaning the BBQ isn't always possible.

      Thanks for watching the video and for your feedback. I've explained the reason behind why it was so dirty, but in case you missed those replies: I live in Canada. The latter part of that winter (2019) was pretty harsh and a combination of heavy use by a number of family members and not getting the ability to clean it resulted in a very dirty BBQ. It has never been anywhere near that dirty since. I'll likely post another video soon to show how it has held up and ppl will see what great condition it is in. That's because I do have pride of ownership.

    I have to disagree with your assessment that stainless steel flavor bars would not be better for they rust faster than any ceramic coated steel. Most stainless steel grill product has a 2-3 year life span. Also, propane tanks are all designed differently, so it is not necessary a Weber design flaw, but the tank you are using. Just thoughts on your complaints

      Thank you for your feedback. I'm always open to opinions and welcome people's input. That's how we all learn. Your wording in your statement about the flavor bars is a little confusing, but just to be clear I simply stated that since the existing bars started rusting in less than 1-1/2 yrs, I believe stainless bars would be better. Stainless steel doesn't rust unless: 1) it is extremely low grade 2) has been contaminated by carbon 3) is subject to high heat which can compromise the oxidization resistance allowing rusting to occur. I would expect to get at least a couple more years out of a stainless bar, which is better than 1-1/2 years. As for the propane tank, I have yet to see a different design for a 20lb tank that doesn't have a seam weld around the center, but if there is one out there, please send me a link. I have been in the welding and compressed gas industry for 35 years, so I'd love to see it. Thanks!

    The design is bad if your tank is inside. Try putting a filled tank of gas inside the unit. You do not have any leverage to do it. Do not recommend this unit.

    How on God's earth would any one let their BBQ get to that level of dirt, grease and carbon build up? (a) disgusting (b) negligence. Come on guys, a bit of respect for such a great product!

      I understand a couple of people have found the build-up to be pretty significant and I do not deny that it was. I get a kick out of trolls like you who want to bash people without an ounce of knowledge on the details. If I could share a little bit of background. I live in Canada and though I'd love to clean my BBQ more often, some winters it's just not in the cards with our weather. I typically maintain the grill grates, scrape the flavorizing bars, keep the cover clean and do some quick scraping of the lower inside housing in the winter, but a combination of bad weather the 2nd half of that winter and some heavy use by family members made for a very dirty grill. I have to say it certainly made for a better visual for the video when cleaning it. I do agree with one thing you said, it is a great product.
