Sooo loving this painting that you’ve been working on for three sessions now and just wanted to thank you for sharing all of it,hoping to have a crack 😅 at this one myself, your voice has such a calming quality and my little dog and I are tucked up in bed listening and watching, best medicine ever!!! My little dog was savagely attacked the other day but thankfully going to be okay, the dogs responsible are no longer with us,most horrific and traumatic experiences of our lives ❤❤❤
Fabulous landscape mini-series….this is what I really love and enjoy….the in-depth instruction and explanation! You are an incredible teacher, and your finished painting is beautiful! Please do more of these videos…..thank you!
Love your videos! I’m learning a lot! My Great Grandfather was Eugene Thurston, Southwest Artist who gave me my first lessons when I was a child. Can you show us a little more of painting rocks and bushes in the foreground ( seems to be where I’m having the most trouble!) Thanks a Bunch!!!
I’ve been to every national park in the southwest and most state parks, some more than once. The scenery is addictive and an artist’s paradise. I’ve been thru numerous galleries in Santa Fe and Sedona and have purchased quite a few lithograph paintings of the southwest by famous artists. Yours belongs right there with them as some of the best I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing and teaching.
Fantastic series Dave. Far easier to watch and digest than an ultra long video. Plus..something to watch everyday! Love this painting. Best wishes..David in the UK.
Thank you so much David for the wonderful 3 videos showing so many techniques. So grateful for the time you spent teaching on tube. I loved the painting and now know how to glaze. Stay well, cheers from Australia.
So glad that I stumbled across your videos. When I heard you talking about the "left-brain" issue and how you were able to develop an impressionist style you gave me hope for myself. I've been blocked from attempting much because I know with my perfectionist view of how I think things should be rendered that I would never be pleased with anything I did. I still don't understand how I can be so drawn to impressionism when I am such a realist but if I can do this I'll be ecstatic. I'm definitely going to give it a try. I also greatly appreciate your willingness to post these amazing full-length videos so that your amazing knowledge is accessible to everyone regardless of our budget. You've also given me a new perspective on acrylic painting. Mediums are my friend and fast drying times are not my enemy. Thank you!
Hi Dave, ahh I am loving trying to follow you painting this one, simply really enjoying myself. Although, I would like to be able to catch up between segments and wonder, hope you can direct me to a similar picture to work with? Between our sessions. I live in BC Canada. Thanks ever so much
Thank you so much for the excellent lessons and sharing tips and knowledge that have been gathered over many years of experience. Is there any chance that you would consider doing underwater scenes showing coral, water depth and light filtering down?
Love how this turned out. The sunrays and the techinque are wonderful. I've been working on other types of painting but I plan to paint along with this one at some point! I enjoyed the longer style of video very much.
Love these videos, David. I work in pastel and find it hard to get red rock formations. I'll try this in acrylic. I was wondering if you've ever tried spray-on varnish at the end of your painting project to protect it and also to make it look more polished? I always worry about painting on varnish because of brush marks.
No, I don't use sprays because of the toxins. I use Heritage brush on varnish on all my paintings. Any good brush on varnish should have a leveling agent in it that does not leave brush marks. I have some varnishing videos on the channel to show how easy a brush on varnish with a leveling agent is to apply.
I agree with Ann Marie just would like to know how dry did you let it get between the 3 stages and did you complete thus is one day ? Awesome Rocks!! I was and probably am always fascinated with your clouds!!! And the clear medium I super awesome I can't wait to try this although I'm waiting shipment from you for paints I've missed the opportunity of buying the glazing medium this time can I use anything else ??
Glazing Medium at least Heritage is very technique specific. It was made to the same consistency of the paint. Other paint companies make it, but not sure what is in theirs. Try it on some black matte board to see if it works.
Beautiful! This is my mountain. I live in QueenCreek Az I take my horse to Apache Junction all the time. That's our mountain. I bet I have a thousand pictures. I'm trying to paint it right now in water color. Maybe mixed media. Is there any way to share a photograph to you?
