      I’ve stayed there at least 10 times but it’s been about 3 years now. The standard rooms are due for a upgrade. The resort is large and does have a lot to offer. Very busy resort that held a lot of conventions. At times these conventions had a lot of kids for tournaments and there would be numerous kids moving through the casino to get places to eat or go to the arcade. The reason I stopped going there was the comps I used to get along with some video poker pay tables went south.
      I now stay more at station casinos 🎰

    Sorry Pomps but I agree with others that you kind of just rolled through this review and didn’t give much detail. Don’t do reviews when you’re tired - it doesn’t go well. I’m a big fan but this doesn’t belong in your repertoire. Kind of felt like you had to do something without the “cons” in the review since they comped you so well and got special treatment.

    I have been following you for what seems like about a year. You deserve a LOT of credit for what you have been able to accomplish - a LOT of credit. I follow hundreds of UT channels and few have done better in so short a time. I am going to say this just for what it is worth. When you take a comp or any upgrade upon your first visit to a property it plants the seed of doubt that what you are getting is really not what the typical quest might expect. The prospect of "special treatment" taints your review - fair to you OR not - but it does. If you always pay your own way for the first visit and insist on being treated just like any other quest it establishes your independence and CREDIBILITY. If the property wants to invite you back as their guest then your unimpeachable credibility has already been established. You, they and WE know it is the real deal. The good properties want to treat everybody like they treat you. The others need to start meeting that expectation. You have become a power in Las Vegas - already. I cannot wait to see how far you can take this.

    • @sfmc98
      @sfmc98 2 роки тому +6

      I agree with you and this is very fair. I don't think he ever imagined this channel or his local celebrity taking off like this. It must be weird and cool and a little confusing to know what to do with it. Me, I love free stuff so you want to give me the VIP treatment and luxury suite upgrade? Hell yeah!
      But thinking long-term about his business, which is this channel, no one wants to watch infomercials. And there is simply no way an ordinary human can be totally objective when someone gives you things for free and also treats you really well. You're bound to overlook small things that you might mention if they hadn't.
      So, I think he's kind of at an inflection point: Does he want this channel to be an honest review channel?; An "insider's view of what VIP life is like in Vegas?"; Or somehow a well defined combination of both?
      Right now, it's an unsettling blend of both because you don't know what your getting when you watch. But maybe your suggestion is the best way to do it: Somehow demand that he be treated like anyone else then come back. BUT, you have to imagine, what if you know you want to come back and get the VIP treatment for another video? Are you really still going to trash a place, even if they deserve it? No, you'll probably go easy on them.

If he takes a freebie and does a "hatchet job" that tells something about Chris. He establishes his long-term credibility by being ready, willing, and able to "chop" as appropriate. Geesh, a lot of critics in these reviews. Notice they tag team, and repeat themselves 3 or 4 times. Here is my honest opinion of your reviews: I do NOT care if you pay or were comped. Makes no difference to me. I personally am not always listening intently to you (sorry Pomps LOL), because I am looking behind and around you. I want to look for myself, and see what would be important, or not important, to ME if I were to stay at a property. I look for cleanliness, I look at the size of the room (and yes, almost 80% of the time you show the standard room if you are staying in a suite, and I appreciate that because I would be staying in a standard room at any property). I know what would bother me in a room and what wouldn't matter to me. I want to see the area outside the hotel, such as the pool area. I want to know it is in a safe location. I look to see what is offered for restaurants. There is A LOT that a viewer can see for themselves as long as you are in there with your camera. Sure, you can talk and point out different things which is helpful, but truthfully, it is impossible for you to cover every little thing because a stay at a hotel is a very personal choice. People having the advantage of having a visual of where they might stay by you touring it, and that is invaluable. We all know that the beautiful pictures any property puts online are not always what you get when you actually arrive, then it is too late. You change hotels or suck it up. You work very hard. You go out of your way to review places that people request of you. You deserve to get comped if the property wants to comp you. The critics don't go to their jobs every day for free, right? You are doing your viewers a SERVICE to take the time and energy to stay at these places. I appreciate the efforts, and I know that there have been a few times when I ended up not going to a property based on your SHOWING US the property. Your words really do not influence my decision. They are an added bonus because there are many videos you have done where you mention something and it catches my attention as something I had not thought of. I want to thank you for all the time and energy you and Greta put into your channel. Add editing to that hotel stay and it is a lot of work. So thank you and remember the saying "you can't please them all". Especially the ones that have to repeat their critique and add more offensive words every time they rewrite it. You know there is a motive there. You keep doing you.

Maybe Chris was tired, maybe he was trying to fit more in, maybe just trying something different …….but it just wasn’t up to his usual standard and people are reacting to that. It’s constructive criticism . When you set the bar high as he does then people notice and comment which is a double edged sword .

    As a general rule, reviews should include both positive and negative characteristics of the hotel, film, book, record, automobile, etc. To me, the danger of receiving any comp is that the 'review' becomes largely, if not exclusively, a paid advertisement of sorts. At what point is this a quid pro quo? Anyways, I'm not attacking Pompsie here as I really think he does one of the best vlogs that ever I've seen -- from the content to the editing to the music. These are just my thoughts. My goal: help, not harm.

    • @JustinSIsTank
      @JustinSIsTank 2 роки тому +12

      The production value is definitely one of the best in the Vegas bloggersphere, and arguably one of the best in all of UA-cam.
      The problem, if you want to call it that, is the content. Pompsie, you're now known in Las Vegas. And the hotels are savvy to that. And now, they are fishing for a positive review. Which is exactly what they got, just like the California in the last vlog. It's about the cheapest advertising they can do: throw the influencer a $250-400 suite and get a glowing review seen by tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands. I'm not going to get comped a $400/night suite. I'm not getting my swanky steakhouse dinners comped. I'm not going on tours with resort GMs and owners.
      And that's fine. It's your channel. You want to just do "Check out my experience at [insert location]!", that's cool. When you start delving into wanting to be a factual and more objective reviewer ("Honest thoughts", "inside look", "honest review"), the comps make you look disingenuous at best. Because here's the dots we, the viewers, can now connect: "Pompsie has gone to two straight Boyd Gaming hotels, been given significant upgrades or comped high-level rooms. Is that all he's been comped? Was he invited to these hotels by Boyd Gaming, or was he planning on visiting these hotels and the internal hotel teams got savvy to it? Why should I consider a hotel review 'honest' when the reviewer got the room (a high-level room) for free and then watch that video review where there are no negatives?"
      But congrats. You got a few views out of me. I presume that's all you care about.

      @@JustinSIsTank Just like the California "review", this one is a crock. If he had any honest credibility, he'd refuse all comps for rooms and restaurants, pay out of pocket like the average guest does and then give us an evaluation. If the room isn't worth the paid rate or the food is overpriced, we need to know. Otherwise, he's a shill for the property. Sorry, Pompsie, you've lost my respect and my subscription.

    • @JustinSIsTank
      @JustinSIsTank 2 роки тому +5

      @@vegasvic144 I agree. I'm trying to be a little nicer about it, but there it is, brass tacks.
      In addition to the Vegas internet community, I follow the Disney internet community pretty closely. There is a site called Touring Plans that is heavy on analytical data to help guests get the best bang for their buck. One overall thing they've noted is that it can be tougher for a top-line resort to get a tip-top guest satisfaction rating simply because those guests are shelling out potentially several hundred dollars a night for their hotel room, and that hotels that maybe have a little less theming, a smaller room, and fewer amenities can still score high on this site's metrics simply because the (relatively, for Disney) affordable cost makes guests more willing to highly grade a somewhat inferior experience. A quick perusal of the Orleans website says that one-bedroom suite they stayed in can run as low as $200 to $250 and as high as $400 to $450. Pompsie claimed he "really liked" the Orleans. I wonder how he would have felt shelling out $200-300.

    I typically enjoy your reviews but this one was too choppy. Talking about the neon sign museum and the show at Planet Hollywood seemed out of place. I wish you had used that time to focus on the Orleans. What type of restaurants and lounges does it have? Is there a buffet? What is the pool area like?

    The hospitality there is 2nd to none. I stayed there a few years ago and my flight was delayed by 16 hours. I did not arrive there until early in the morning.. They offered to give me an extra comped night even though the error had nothing to do with them. Very clean rooms and the casino is filled with locals and less tourists.

Restaurants are fairly priced for Vegas and food is very good. I always stay at the Orleans at lease 2-3 days when I come to town for a week every month. Rooms are clean but nothing fancy. The Orleans was warm and beautiful and jumping which also surprised me at the time. I had a very comfortable and large room which came in handy when my friends came to visit me. Stayed there every summer while my son's played Travel Basketball. My youngest graduated 2020 so that tradition/chapter is closed for us. Always stayed standard room...nice, roomy,and comfortable. Awsome for families as it has nice variety of food options especially those favored by teenage hungry boys, movie theater, bowling alley and small arcade for our team to enjoy without leaving the hotel. Pool area is both beautiful and plenty of room for guests of all ages. I'm not a gambler but they have nice dancing area and live bands playing at times. Plenty to do and see there if one chooses to free transportation to and from the strip. Never had any issues, staff is pleasant and we stayed for full week every summertime. I would definitely recommend and return in future with no teenagers...what a joy! Oh and handful of fast food options right outside casino including Walgreen's down the corner.

    Pompsie, the Orleans is in my top 3 Hotel choices to stay in Vegas. It is also one of the most liked and busiest Hotels in Las Vegas. I myself have stayed at the Orleans four times out of my 16 times to Las Vegas. There is a shuttle that takes you to the strip every 15 minutes, non-stop so it's not a biggy if you're not Hoteling it right on the strip. It's a real self-contained Hotel where if you didn't want to leave you'd be entertained all day there. Great restaurant choices, good gambling, Keno section, Bingo upstairs, Movie Theatre, Bowling Alley, Arcade, Spa, I believe there's a small Sportsbook, the Arena of course where you saw One Republic (and YES I'm so jealous!). Just love that band & Ryan Tedder. Love the whole New Orleans vibe there. Thanks for sharing your views on it.

    My comment is hard to put in words properly, but I actually like that you show more than just the standard rooms. If it’s comped, who would pass up the opportunity? I wouldn’t. I appreciate the work you put in. You’re doing us all a favor by touring multiple room options. What if someone wanted to actually stay in suite and didn’t know what which one to pick?! I know most people usually stay in standard rooms, which is great, you’ve shown plenty of options. But showing these bigger better rooms brings the entertainment to the channel and not just general information that people can look up on the internet. If that makes sense…

      Word got around after The Cosmo situation. Now all these properties do is give him free comps & rooms so they basically own him and they know he won't give them a bad review. It's become biased bull imo, they own Pompsie now & his so-called reviews have become tame & biased when given a comp & free luxury suites. This isn't the average Vegas visitor's experiences.
      I don't blame Pompsie though. What person wouldn't want to take up offers on free comped best luxury suites and be able to film it for his popular vlog. But to be "honest", it isn't about being honest anymore really.

    In Pompsi's defense he does point out the negatives in his reviews too. Even on comped rooms. He is pretty honest in my opinion and if you regularly watch his reviews, you will see . I was actually surprised that he said negative things about a room that was comped. I am sure that the hotels assume he will give them all positive reviews. And alot of times he does not get free rooms, he spends his own money. I don't know why anyone is hating on him but if you don't like his vids, don't watch them. I happen to like watching his vids and I love his girl, she has such a sweet personality and she is full of spunk and just seems so happy all the time. Well thats my opinion.
