  • In his January/Febrary 2017 cover story, Ta-Nehisi Coates explores President Barack Obama’s journey to the White House. This short animation uses recordings from Coates’s conversations with Obama to illustrate the young president’s doubts and convictions along the way. "I think our basic assessment was maybe we had a 20-25 percent chance of winning,” Obama says of his run for president. “But what I never doubted was my ability to get white support.”

The blame lies on the Southern blacks who overwhelming voted for Hill in the primary....heck, a cute puppy would have trumped the Trump...

Yes you can never amount to anything. Because of whitey.
I'm glad people are admitting their hatred for whites. Tells me who my enemies are. And then justifying it with "well all white people hated me."
No. I didn't hate you until you said that ignorant shit.

As a 23 year old I basically grew up with Obama as my president. All of high school and four years of college he was president and the 2016 election was the first time I was able to vote. I remember when he was elected.

Obama is actually multicultural. His father was black. His mother was of mixed European heritage. His maternal grandmother was part Native American. If you mix that with the black blood then you get Puerto Rican; mix it with rhe white blood=Mexican. His step fathet was Indonesian. Young Barack lived there for a number of years. Additionally, he was raised in Hawaii. This give him a Polyonesian flair.
He is a true definition of the word multicultural.

"The ideas that white people wouldn't judge me based on merit is less embedded in me..."
Wait so what you are saying is that is a black person stops believing white people are out to get them, stops believing white people hate them, stops blaming white people for holding them back, and accepts that white people will judge them based on their merits than it's possible for them to achieve something great, including becoming the President of the most power country to ever exist.
It's rare, but this one time I'll agree with you Obama, now if only you have spent your 8 years in office spreading this message instead of the "white cops wanna kill black people" and "racism is a huge issue" non-sense you actually spoke of in your speeches.
