Same. There is very little information on how to make these things available in English. At least with videos like these and a little carpentry skills you can suss it out enough to try.
@@FastJohnnyNardGardare you the woodworker who has completed the sussing by any chance? I've been trying for about 3 days to find a source for the semi rigid paper wrapped framing material they wrap around the molds before gluing paper. Do you have any idea what this is and where to source it? I tried a prototype using twine. The glue bonded to it very well but since it has no rigidity, it folds perfectly where it touches the mold and the walls end up very angular instead of rounded like in the video. I don't know where else to turn, so my energy is turned to you random UA-cam person.
@@samkenknight7132 I think I looked at "armature wire" then I found that you have "florist wire" which seems like a better option because it is both semi-rigid, comes in a bunch of different guages, and is covered in a layer of cloth.
@@samkenknight7132 Alternately to the florist wire, there are people who sell rounded wood reeds, the types used to make wicker furniture or baskets, if you wanted to try a wooden option.
.."CHOCHIN" - That's what they call these great artistic & traditional paper lanterns...But what does it mean?...And what is actually written on the chochins?...I can't read Japanese.... . 👌🏼👍🏼👏🏼💙
Paper lanterns: it seems something " simple" to make right? Wrong! Definitely, it is not something easy to to be done. The paper is not any " paper"; it has to be resistent and water and wind proof. Try to make a paper lantern from PAPER ( of course) that can be strong enough to resist being folded and exposed to water and wind. Now, put inside this paper lantern its worse enemy: fire. The fire has to last a long time and put in a way that cannot turn off or make the paper lantern turn black due to its smoke . Make one and tell us if was an easy task or not. 🇧🇷
I was looking for a way to make a miniature japanese lantern. Now I've got the idea. Thank you so much!!!!
Yo I wish I could work there for a month ... just give me a room to sleep and some sushi to eat
