FINALLY someone who knows how to properly drive these cars, and a manual transmission. Its SO annoying to see onboard videos where the driver never rev matches or heel toes on the downshifts (poor trans), and treats the car like its made out of glass, never revving it out or driving the car like how they actually used to. This guy is fucking amazing
The car is amazing it was very popular in Portugal in the 70, but this is very especial os beautiful and the sound from índice is amazing thanks from Carlos Portugal
I've owned 6 ford capri's over the years including a 2.8i special in two tone blue. The mk1 capris at the time were rare enough and the RS ones rarer still. I was lucky enough to see a few at shows including the RS 2600 as well. Simple mechanics and lots of fun driving especially in the wet!
Really really nice car. Been looking into these. Don't have that motor but about 3 or so generations newer cosworth v6 3.0 and was thinking about a capri for it. Would love to know how well your cooling works with those radiators in the fenders. Nice drive too. Used to have a street capri, but never a proper race capri. Mustangs miatas and a formula car or two but now thinking a vintage car would be awesome. What gear box is that? Thanks for the vid, awesome...
Looks fairly sedate on the inside. Cut to external shot and it's dancing all over the place. Love it. Way back, my mate had an RS 3.1 road car. That really was an evil thing in any conditions. Like poking an angry bear in the back of the head with a stick; only a matter of time before it turned around and ripped your arms off.
Duncan, before I got my own ‘74 3.0 GXL, friend looking for an RS 3.1 offered to sell me his ‘73, but on one condition - he could buy it back if he he didn’t like the RS... He bought a Jeff Uren RS 3.1 - it was quick, but.... I was made to give him back ‘his’ GXL after 6 weeks and I went and found my own GXL soon after!

That GAA makes just the greatest 6 cylinder noise and nice to see the gear stick hasn't fallen off this time😎 How FAST was the Mk3 Zakspeed turbo compared to the GAA!!!
@@Belgian-Motorsport Thanks, that's alot because the Zakspeed just powered away from the GAA, if we look at a 25 lap race, the Zakspeed is 25 sec ahead!
Check out the Zakspeed Capri Turbo. Used to run rings around 935s and M1s in the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. To be fair though DRM used a silhouette formula and beyond the rough shape there was not much Capri left. But Porsche had to lean on the officials and got the Capris banned on a technicality at the end of the season after they won every single race in both the under 2L and over 2L category. The Zakspeed Capri's won the season after anyway but were less dominant.
I had 1977 V-6 4 speed, lowered four spoke American mags, 3” exhaust with quad Anza tips, my license plate was, HUMMV6, such a great looking car as well, great memories. Now I have a Fiesta ST, best car ever.
Mine was a 76 2800 V-6 that's been modified to be a 3.0 Holley 4-barrel 350cfm, 4-tip Monza exhaust, Bilsteins, big away bar & anti-dive blocks, Libre mag wheels, 2-inchs lowered. Momo Prototipo, blood-orange with black interior. It was so nice, some assbite stole it. Replaced by a 69-911E Porsche for last 33 years & counting.
Great racing. The Capri starts fifth and immediately swallows the two red 935s(!). As for the M1 and the yellow sports racer, you will have to watch to the end. Odd that we've never heard of Stefan Mücke.
When I was 17 yrs in 1985 i brought an original 4 speed 3.0s Capri in red, it had two owners from new that was the same family and it was properly looked after. I drove it home and parked outside the house too show my pride and joy off to who ever I saw, within less then 2 hours a drunk driver had slammed into the back of my beautiful red 3.0s and completely destroyed it beyond repair. So with the insurance money I got myself an MK2 Lotus Sunbeam in moonstone black, that car was BAGS of Skip Brown fun. 👌👌👌
Yes you missed out on a lot of fun. I also had a 3 litre 4 speed capri in 1985! Red with a blacked out bonnet and gold stripes down the side. I drove that car like any overenthusiastic teen would for several years and very much regret selling it. It was fast enough to delaminate (seperate the plys) on my front bf goodrich radialTA tyres! Tyre shop gave me another set and told me to slow down a bit!
0:11 Had that happen to me while driving for Royal Mail. I drove it back to the depot in 4th gear. Clutch was slightly warm and my manager called me irresponsible and a danger to other road users. A bit of smoke never hurt anybody. The fat prick got sacked a year later for stealing.
The Cologne cars of the late sixties and early seventies were meant to contest the Porsches in Europe. Ford brought on the hard hitters like Ickx, Maas, Fitzpatrick, and Stewart. It is well documented by these drivers that they were a handful on the track. Having a friend that restored one of the original Cologne cars with the Westlake v6 a few years ago you have to wonder if Ford brought Smoky Yunick to the factory to show them creative engineering so they could beat the 911’s.

me and my friend took his 2.8 and tried to make it sound like a cosworth rs3100 and ironically after spending 6k in parts and a turbo it sounds like the real car. Now im doing the same to my capri!
Fantastic! The 33 dislikes are from the old school knuckle draggers who think no car is a real car without a V8. I'd love to take their sorry butts out in this Capri and scare some reality into their closed minds!!
What a car this is.....I had to laugh when the gear stick came off in his hand at the start of this vid, the same thing happened to me on my 2.0 laser on the m6.... That zackspeed capri is a rocket
That is a sound that never gets old. Raw, fine tuned simple power. Soooo nice..................

The sweet whine of a Cossi Engine all lit up. Classic Hot Rod. Thanks for sharing/
The sound of the Cosworth engine sounds so ...so good! High reving goodness!!
Belgian-Motorsport, the UA-cam channel that never disappoints ♥
Dieser Sound das ist der Wahnsinn 😍😍😍
Been waiting for this video to come out. Love this car.
Beautiful sound, congratulations for the pilot !
I love this car. Thank u for getting the onboard again BM 👍👍👍
The evil himself... Awesome Sound, thats real Racing 👍👍👍
One of the greatest era's of motorsport.
When racers were still real men :-)
The sound reminds me of my weekends as a teenager on the Nürburgring. Super cool.

Der beste Renntourenwagen seiner Zeit . Danke für das tolle Video.

that was great driving, and looked like a heck of a good time.

Nice driving, Stefan.

Damn! Those Capris still look good.
These Capris are awesome cars, were just a bit underpowered compaired to their competition.
But they do compensate with supreme handling. 😏

plus the drive in the 935 probably didnt knew what he was doing. A 935 would smoke the capri on any day of the week.
@@Keckegenkai Difference between turbo charged and naturally aspirated also.
That's why the 935 and the Capri should have been in different classes.
I can’t get over the contrast between the rest of the car & driver and the passenger door card...
That is one hell of a killer Capri....nice one.
beautiful
Both Bmw M1 and that Ford Capri looks awesome. Great driving and that car sounds great. But both those cars are in the Gt Legends game right.?
