Loved these old 3.0S Capris. Never owned one myself, but an old mate had several. He started with a yellow 1.6S, then a silver 2.0S, both Mk3, and then he got a Mk2 3.0S, followed by a 2.8i and a 280 Special Mk3's again. It was the 3.0S pre injection that I loved out of all of them with it's twin carb induction noise. 👍
Hi there, thanks for your comment, yes I loved the capri's, my Uncle actually had a Mk2 3.0S at the same time I owned that one , the performance of both of them were pretty much dead equal I seem to remember. My Mum's boyfriend also owned a burgundy Mk3 3.0S and he also had a Mk3 3.0 Ghia auto.
Has anybody noticed that old cars shrink. I seen a mk1 granada parked up in a local car park about 10 yrs ago and it was being dwarfed by a mondeo. The granny was a large family car in the 70s and 80s.
Heh, i bought a brand new set of Pepper Pots from Ford in March 1990, kept them on the car until 2001, ( Mk2 3.0 Ghia ), then i put the original Ghia alloys on, put the Peppers back on again in August 2019 and took them off again in November 2021 and sold them to a firnd. Nice video
Hi, thanks for your comment. My Mum's BF back then had a 3.0 ghia auto. Yes they were great fun, although I am giving it a little abuse on the video, I learnt quickly that you had to respect them 3.0's in the wet weather, to much throttle at the wrong time and could be lethal lol
My dad had a 1981 cobalt blue 3litre ghia VOO362W beautiful car. Even had the blue ghia interior. That car is still about too! If you search the reg on Google the car will come up
Brings back some memories. My mum had a blue 3.0S with pepperpots on it. It rotted away so fast, it was only an 8 year old car. Her mk2 S before that was fine, amd the 2.8i's she had after were also fine, no idea why that 1980 car just dissolved so quickly.
Yeah mine also had some rust issues, rear wheel arches were quite bad, one was replaced. Most cars back then had rust problems, some say it was the paint they used, poor quality.
Hi, I am going through my old home videos to see what I can upload, I have a few 8mm tapes to get converted still. I am currently working on a compilation of cars around at that time which will interest the car enthusiast. My mum's boyfriend bought that Capri off me and as far as I know it just sat on his driveway and rotted away, so not being taxed since 92 that confirms it.
Wow!! I know exactly where this is! I also live in dorking and have a Capri! This is a bridge along the back of brockham coming off from punch bowl lane 👌
@@Generalkenobi325 My Mum's BF had a kit on his 3.0s and had a 3.1 engine conversion, spent a fortune. just rotted away in the end. Him and his brother built the engine in the kitchen themselves LOL
haha, already on the car when I bought it, I think the original wheels are too narrow, the pepper pots were 205 wide tires which were considered quite wide at the time.
@@toothfairy2353 I didn't have the money to change them back then, I made do with what I had. The car wasn't really classed as a classic then, was just a car.
Typical Ford, smoking after only a couple of years, thought you never put a scratch on it ? Only dents I guess lol, both near side bumper end caps are missing
Ahhh ...the good old days , loved the 3.0 s had 2 then a 2.8i , this has brought back great memories , thanks lads
Nice one! thanks for watching.

Hi, thanks for watching, I am just glad my home video survived 34 years!
My black 3.0s v reg had the early pepper pot 2.8 inj wheels on

I think those wheels looked good, the original wheels were not very wide were they? Thanks for watching.

I've also noticed that .
To cope with ppl getting larger

Lol, that did make me giggle. Thanks for watching
I was 24 in 1987, bought a 81 3 litre ghia manual payed £2000. Cobalt blue what a car. Before that one I had a JPS 20s 1977. Great fun.😅

One careful owner, never raced or rallied.😄
lol, made me laugh, it was quite rusty though, was a bit of a heap if truth be known.
1980’s cool started in the late ‘70s!
Love this and would love to see more videos
What happened to the Capri ? Last taxed 92 :(

Untaxed since October 92 😂
Yes, my Mum's Boyfriend bought off me because I couldn't afford the insurance anymore and sadly it just rotted away on the driveway, hay ho.
@@Waynzo-i3w keep an eye on the bohill ford meets, I'm always there in a gold 3.0s, give you a blast down memory lane 😀

quality we all did it in something 😊
That was tame compared to some things my mates did at the time, crazy days
@ i remember capri club international have mad max themed bomb a car racing on a field, now the leader is all about preserving them 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And here’s an accident I had earlier… 😂
LOL, amazingly I never put a single scratch on that car, that came later with smaller engine cars haha
Poor old capri 😂
Yes, its quite sad for me to watch how I abused it, but back then wasn't classed as a classic.
Had a 2.8 injection in 93 in the 12 months I had it it fell to pieces rust rot
Yeah this Capri had some rust issues.
Cool as f%£k
Thanks for watching!

think you can't get prosecuted for being a dick head because it was 30 odd years ago think again
I was a typical 19 year old lad at the time.
2.8 injection wheels look terrible on the capri S
