it is such a joy to watch these musicians play together. i couldn t believe my luck when I went to see Tommy in Manchester last year. Frank and Vinny were supporting him, it was a special night!!
(I'm not sure that this is the best word, but it's the word that occurs to me:) ORGIASTIC. Note how they go from a screaming collective improvisation to a clockwork-precision performance of the head, several times; Note how Frank plays "sock" guitar, creating the sound of a hi-hat cymbal, when playing rhythm; Note how Tommy recreates Freddie Green's swinging "time," when playing rhythm; Note how, after Tommy's blistering solo, Frank demonstrates profound testicular fortitude by being just as blistering (and gets a round of applause); Note how, after the brilliant chorus in which they trade 4's, the following chorus has them soloing simultaneously in Jazz Counterpoint; Note how incredibly rock-solid Mazzaroppi is, during all of this. I've always dug this tune, as much for the imagery of the lyric as for the music, which I always considered kind of "quaint." Quaint? After this performance... ...to quote the Raven... "Nevermore."
Frank is playing a custom Thorell. Ryan Thorell makes a number of georgous jazz style guitars. If you watch the whole Woodsongs program(archived on their website, show #562, Google it) Frank talks about getting it.
It is a vintage 1934 Gibson Kalamazoo KG-11 if i not mistaken, kind of a sad story a dieing German fan hands down to Tommy, just befor he lost the battle with cancer.
Gary Mazzaropi swings like no other. I can't get enough of these guys.
Genius. Just genius. On every level. 🤯❤

Just great, great playing buy all. Again, Django may have played tis tune but it was written by Harold Arlen.
Abit late :) But yes i belive it is :) its truly amazing the sound he can squeeze out of that old rarity,.
MARAVILLOSA MÚSICA EJECUTADA POR GENIOS.
He can make a sour note sound as sweet as honey.
The Frank Vignola model guitar sure sounds great.

Oh Yes!
Anybody know what kind of guitar Frank's playing? Love that tone.
His clothes don't bother me, because I'm enjoying the music.
What kind of guitar is my boy Tommy playing in this classic?

This tune has nothing to do with Django Reinhardt, it was written by Harold Arlenm then used in a movie Take a Chance in the 30s.
:)
the number of dislikes says it all
maybe the whole django music that play at the woodsongs is better then himself....
