For two decades I had a fever dream of somehow dominating in a mech fighting arcade game at a bowling alley, just pressing buttons and somehow getting wins. Seeing an animation of a pink mech flying up into the sky after each bout. And now I finally know what I played.
The great thing about these classic arcades are that they are flawless in control motions, is so comfortable tracking all the movements and adjustments, while not having dizziness or feeling bored. One of my favorite classics.
I remember my battles in the Arcade Machine... Then i was 16 years old (year 1991). I played with two sticks or Joysticks, seated in a big dual Arcade Machine with an unknown partnet or companion sitting next to me, by my side. Great battles !!

I almost got the chance to play this on the ORIGINAL arcade machine. It was at this crummy bowling alley in our town, and they had an arcade section there. I think i was around 9 or 10, and this was back in 2008. I vividly remember seeing that massive setup with the seats and twin-stick controls, and just sitting in awe, watching the demo play with these cool robots duking it out. I BEGGED my dad to give me some quarters to play, but he wouldn't let me because he wanted me to participate in bowling. After that, the Virtual-On machine was gone, and I completely missed out on playing this game. Dad, on the very SLIM chance you read this, I love you, but that was so not cool. >:(

How do you run it in fullscreen 4:3 aspect ratio on a 1080p monitor (black bars on the side probably)? I noticed your video is in 720p and letterboxed in the correct AR. When I try to run it, it launches in fullscreen and stretches to my monitor, but my printscreen still produces 480p so I know it's not being upscaled.

Hey I had a question. I tried using Keysticks/ antimicro as alternatives for xpadder/joytokey and I was able to map the controller fine and it works, but it doesn't work when I start to run the game. Is it necessary to have either xpadder or joytokey in order for an xbox controller to be used with this game?

Hello, im having some trouble with getting the music to work on W7 are there any special settings that need to be ticked?, I did a full install and running the iso with virtual clone
This game frustruated the hell out of me on Yakuza Kiwami 2 so bad I had to watch actual gameplay. Idk what it is but on the kiwami version you can't really turn too well
If you mean Jaguarandi, he's actually a "penalty" boss: You only face him if you take too long to get to the 2nd batch of battles (and the "Penalty" is since he's real tough to beat until you continue some times) and since I didn't take enough to meet that condition, I didn't run with it. However, it is present in the PC port.
@@ArcadeStriker uhhh that's cool!!! I have to install again this game on my new notebook... thanks! Are you still playing in the network with IP? And my version was without the song... how can I configure it?
Might have been because I played this back when I had Windows 7, which did always hide those when playing...haven't tried it recently in Windows 10 so right now unsure if I could tell you how to hide it or not right now...
@@ArcadeStriker Ah well thanks for replying. I recently got the game to work in Windows 10 with the 60fps patch and Music working without the CD and it works flawlessly. Only the menu bar at the top is annoying lol.
nah, you just gotta get a good flow going and have a good understanding of the mechanics on how your mech moves and your weapons track. it's pretty easy once you have it down. I love this game, especially when playing the arcade version against a friend.
Yo! I'm having some trouble with the VO installer for the PC, after installing the game and running the inmm installer the game throws me error 0x0000022 when trying to run it, any ideas? +TheArcadeStriker
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I don't know if I have released a updated version, but in the meantime, you could also try opening the game as admin.
The patch allows you to play with 60FPS toggle and fixes compatibility issues...but that is the one thing it doesn't fix. for that you have to use dxwrapper with the "handle exceptions" option or using DxWnd to launch the game with the "handle exceptions" setting on in its profile to fix it. I remember using the latter a lot, but might get to do a quick guide for that soon to help
@@SickleSlash I recently stumbled upon someone seemingly providing a fix for that (they also happened to do fixed versions of old games like this); let me try it and if it works I'll pass it on to you :)
@@SickleSlash Recently saw someone also trying to fix these old games, and saw they had made a fix for Virtual-On...just tried it and it actually works, no crash AND no menu bar!! twitter.com/arhu_mk/status/1680498181639897088 He used dxwrapper to fix it, but if you are also using that or are going to download his version to make things easier, make sure to download below the first post the "von crash fix" file and paste it on the folder to fix the continue + menu bar thing.
Hi I would like to know if there is a way to play the game with a gamepad, I'm using a Genius maxfire g-08xu, it's a pretty basic game pad, I tried with x360ce but It doesn't work, any suggestions?
You need to use Xpadder or another keyboard emulator for gamepads, since the game doesn't natively support most gamepads because of it¿s age, but you can use a keyboard emulator and setup your gamepad with it.

One thing though - it seems there's no link to Virtua Fighter 2 there, yet the game shows up in blue (available).

Right click the desktop and click Radeon Software (For Radeon GPUs and Ryzen APUs)
Click the Gear icon on a top right corner then select Display on a sub-menu
Turn the GPU scaling to ON and then Select the Scaling Mode to
Preserve/Maintain aspect ratio
(For Nvidia GPU user's)
Right Click at the desktop click NVIDIA Control Panel
In the Nvidia Control Panel, go to Display and then click Adjust desktop size and position
Set the scaling mode to Aspect Ratio
Choose the Perform scaling set to GPU
And then enable or checked the Override the scaling mode by games and programs
Hey I had a question. I tried using Keysticks/ antimicro as alternatives for xpadder/joytokey and I was able to map the controller fine and it works, but it doesn't work when I start to run the game. Is it necessary to have either xpadder or joytokey in order for an xbox controller to be used with this game?
I got it
@@altier11 in the offchance youa re still around, but how did you maanged?
@@Globoglobitos I got the game to work I remember having to do a little bit of jerry riggin to get the controller to work while the game was running but all in all I was able to play the pc version with comfortable controls. I stop playing the game though, just went back to playing on my saturn, but it was fun and I appreciate the help and the feedback. thankyou
This is like Custom Robo
Got the PC version working with my twin sticks. Are you still looking for people to play online matches with?
Ranking, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, EX-S. Which one are you?
Hello, im having some trouble with getting the music to work on W7 are there any special settings that need to be ticked?, I did a full install and running the iso with virtual clone
You could try using the RetroBox version. It already has the music patched in.
This game was the shit man.
you must be shit.
This game frustruated the hell out of me on Yakuza Kiwami 2 so bad I had to watch actual gameplay. Idk what it is but on the kiwami version you can't really turn too well
What control type are you using?
Where's the first Boss enemy? I saw another video, and he appears... It's for PC too!
@@ArcadeStriker And it's only 1 match each battle? In Arcades it was 2...
How did you hide the menubar on top of the screen showing "Game" "Debug" etc.?
Might have been because I played this back when I had Windows 7, which did always hide those when playing...haven't tried it recently in Windows 10 so right now unsure if I could tell you how to hide it or not right now...
@@ArcadeStriker Ah well thanks for replying. I recently got the game to work in Windows 10 with the 60fps patch and Music working without the CD and it works flawlessly. Only the menu bar at the top is annoying lol.
@@arhum1224 if I were to figure out how to, though, I'll let you know
This game is so damn difficult
nah, you just gotta get a good flow going and have a good understanding of the mechanics on how your mech moves and your weapons track. it's pretty easy once you have it down. I love this game, especially when playing the arcade version against a friend.
Man your jaegers!
Do you still have the download for this? The link has been dead for awhile, redirecting to some "privacy-focused company" page.
I'll look forward to reuploading these when I have some free time and can find backups on my drives
@@ArcadeStriker Please reupload
PM me in my inbox. Another PC version working properly with some basic configuration is available.
Shame sega left this series to die
There's supposed to be a recent patch that makes it playable on modern pc but it always crashes on me when I trigger the continue screen?
The patch allows you to play with 60FPS toggle and fixes compatibility issues...but that is the one thing it doesn't fix. for that you have to use dxwrapper with the "handle exceptions" option or using DxWnd to launch the game with the "handle exceptions" setting on in its profile to fix it. I remember using the latter a lot, but might get to do a quick guide for that soon to help
@@ArcadeStriker OK, I think I figured it out. I take it there's no way to play it in proper full screen currently?
@@SickleSlash I recently stumbled upon someone seemingly providing a fix for that (they also happened to do fixed versions of old games like this); let me try it and if it works I'll pass it on to you :)
@@SickleSlash Recently saw someone also trying to fix these old games, and saw they had made a fix for Virtual-On...just tried it and it actually works, no crash AND no menu bar!!
twitter.com/arhu_mk/status/1680498181639897088
He used dxwrapper to fix it, but if you are also using that or are going to download his version to make things easier, make sure to download below the first post the "von crash fix" file and paste it on the folder to fix the continue + menu bar thing.
Where can you get the patches for this game?
Hi I would like to know if there is a way to play the game with a gamepad, I'm using a Genius maxfire g-08xu, it's a pretty basic game pad, I tried with x360ce but It doesn't work, any suggestions?
You need to use Xpadder or another keyboard emulator for gamepads, since the game doesn't natively support most gamepads because of it¿s age, but you can use a keyboard emulator and setup your gamepad with it.
