I've played Blades of Time, it was a delusion. The game is not horrible, but mediocrity condensed on a disc. The combat isn't even the best part of it, the time puzzles are. There is a demo on the PS3 store if you are interested

I have been saying for decades that you cannot properly judge a game's mechanics if you never played it on the highest difficulty or higher than normal at least. You will also not properly/decently learn to play a game which is it's own reward if a game has a good system. There can certainly be exceptions to this and this isn't the only way to experience a game, but I think that it is generally true.

God of war 3 is absolutely amazing. The only thing and only thing alone I hate is Scorpius. MF is a nightmare on Chaos mode. And that Hit that takes over 100% health that MF has no right to do that. And that Ridiculous Spammed retreat he does...argh it's annoying. I have a better chance against the Cerberus than Scorpius. Especially the fact that Scorpius replaced Stheno the 3rd Gorgon sister. The Gorgon Sisters are what got me into Greek mythology and from there I learned about The God of War franchise and never regretted playing it from the day I found it. ❤❤❤

These reviews are trash lol These people either got stuck on a boss or puzzle then called the game trash or boring. There is no button mashing if you use all the weapons and abilities, honestly every game is somewhat button mashing and the quick time events I feel make it more immersive as I get to initiate and beat Gods to a pulp in a cutscene.
my biggest personal complaints would be the story and its inconsistencies (Zeus seems bipolar and doesn't kill Pandora because otherwise Kratos doesn't win, thanks Zeus) along with the characters that almost all make stupid decisions like Gaia when throwing Kratos, Kratos himself not using Icarus' wings when he fell, they thought very little when it came to doing the nerf on duty, among others like Hercules or Daedalus, the bestiary, it's quite repetitive and that's even though it's a game that lasts quite a bit, the bosses, Chronos, the Scorpion and Cerberus before Zeus bore me a lot, and Helios and Hermes although I wouldn't consider Helios a boss were quite disappointing as characters, they stain the word God with their presence, a bit how they reuse areas of the game, (especially Hades) the issue of how they originally thought of NG+, only having relics as objects but not weapons, at least there's a trick to make that possible, the fact that I can't skip cutscenes like when I want to replay bosses (come on, even Nordic games that use a lot of cutscenes have that option) and the fury of the blade of Olympus seems awful to me on high difficulties and sometimes only sometimes the camera being so close to the character like in the last part of the labyrinth made me die because I couldn't see what attack the enemies were doing to me and of course, repeating that BECAUSE of that was a pain in the balls.
Even if I don’t fully agree with your gameplay criticisms (I’m fine with the use of Helios & Hermes personally because seeing them get dispatched so quickly in contrast to gods like Hades, Poseidon, or Zeus made for a neat change of pace and kept the treatment of the gods from feeling repetitive, I was personally ok with them reusing the Underworld because it was done in a way that didn’t feel like backtracking, and, imo, the bestiary felt relatively varied as we had Minotaurs, Cerberus’, Gorgons, and some more, but still fair take), I must say you do a fantastic job explaining your points and I think you raise a lot of strong critiques of the game that I’ve honestly never thought of before, so well done. For your story comments, I think Zeus doesn’t kill Pandora because he simply can’t, hence why she only dies when being sucked into the Flame of Olympus. Ik she can die during gameplay, but idr there being any indication that that’s canon. Could be wrong though. Still a great point. For Gaia betraying Kratos, this is also a solid point, but to me, this makes sense for Gaia’s characterization. She’s obsessed with redeeming her and her people’s failure to win the Great War and Kratos truly WAS just a pawn to her, so the moment he stopped being of use to her, she saw no issue with discarding him. Kratos not using his wings is another strong criticism and, to be perfectly honest, one I lack a secure answer to, but I think Kratos was so shocked by Gaia’s betrayal and the realization that his goal had been taken from him right when he had it in his grasp shocked him into a moment of deep reflection that lasted long enough for him to end up in hell. I think it’s also possible he decided not to do this as a tactical decision because the realization Gaia was no longer his ally probably made him think faking his death would be a good idea because that way, he could always come back when everyone least expects it. Still a good point tho. Just out of friendly curiosity, wdym by “The thought very little when it came to doing the nerf on duty” and how are Hercules & Daedalus stupid?
@@fictionnerd78 It's true about the pace regarding Helios, Hermes and while we're at it, Hera too, although it still gives me the feeling that Olympus or Greece in general had a very serious Achilles heel regarding its deities, because it's still disappointing that a figure worshipped by the Greeks dies so quickly, especially Helios who was given some importance in Chains of Olympus, practically the whole game consisted of rescuing him, I don't know, it just seems like a waste to me, I like the gods to look like gods in terms of their combat capabilities. I don't think there's an answer to that about Pandora, perhaps if they said that if she died either by the flame or for another reason the flame would still go out, that would explain why Zeus didn't want to kill her, but it doesn't explain why the labyrinth itself has traps that put her in danger, it's supposed that Daedalus was the one who gave the orders on how to build it and Zeus should be attentive to what they do but no, nothing. That's one of the reasons why I call Daedalus stupid, the second reason is that during the time he was building the labyrinth his son Icarus was still alive, we saw it in Gow 2, so Daedalus blindly trusted Zeus' word, I don't know, something strange is going on there, maybe you have the answer? Because it seems strange to me that he spent an entire decade building the labyrinth with the promise of seeing his son again, when we saw that Icarus was alive all that time until he dies in Gow 2, why didn't Icarus go visit his father in 10 years? Anyway. As for Gaia, I just don't see a coherent answer, maybe it's somewhat credible that because she wanted to fix the problem that she helped cause she didn't want anyone but her to solve it, but the thing is, no matter the reason, it's simply not a good idea to become an enemy of Kratos, as much as she believed that he wouldn't escape the underworld this time, despite the fact that she's already seen him do it on a couple of occasions in one way or another, it's just dumb, I saw somewhere that they said it was because Athena died, that everyone in Greece became dumb and incapable of making strategies, but not even in the game do they deign to make a mention of her death, and how it affected Greece in its own way, as they did with Poseidon, Hades, and even Helios who had died a short time ago, we could see a writing before facing Hermes that said that humanity paid dearly for the death of those 3 but they never mention Athena. And about Hercules, the truth is it was my mistake to mention only him, more than one character in this game is an idiot, not just him, the gods fighting separately instead of trying to kill Kratos all at once, Zeus not killing Pandora for whatever reason, Zeus himself breaking his promise at the beginning saying that they should join forces to kill Kratos, but when Poseidon was being beaten to death right below where he was he did NOTHING to interfere and let his brother die, Gaia letting Kratos fall earning a new enemy, Kratos not using his wings to avoid falling into the river Styx, Hera saying nonsense about Pandora provoking Kratos, Hades blaming Kratos for Persephone's death when it was partly his fault that she made that decision, Hercules bragging and talking to Hera instead of finishing off Kratos when he was vulnerable, Helios lying to Kratos when he couldn't even move after being seriously injured, Hermes provoking Kratos when he had nothing to defend himself with according to him, many of these things can be summed up as the gods being too arrogant and effectively overestimating themselves, but it's still stupid. And by "they thought very little when making the nerf on duty" I mean that it doesn't seem like they thought too much about how to nerf Kratos in a more or less credible way for this game, again, why didn't you use your wings?!

Honestly tho, a reviewer and haters basic thought of God of War 3 being a button masher is a clear sign that, that person didn't play God of War 3 on very hard, a game like God of War 3 that's super easy on easy, normal and even hard(no matter what hard is basic to complete) is only fully appreciated when you seek it's challenge, it's combat is also complex in the fact that it gives off the illusion that it's simple, when looked at, at a broader perspective, it's far from simple, and on very hard, the properties of moves are way more evident, it's one reason why on very hard, God of War 3 becomes a masterpiece 🤯

Kratos not using his wings is another strong criticism and, to be perfectly honest, one I lack a secure answer to, but I think Kratos was so shocked by Gaia’s betrayal and the realization that his goal had been taken from him right when he had it in his grasp shocked him into a moment of deep reflection that lasted long enough for him to end up in hell. I think it’s also possible he decided not to do this as a tactical decision because the realization Gaia was no longer his ally probably made him think faking his death would be a good idea because that way, he could always come back when everyone least expects it. Still a good point tho.

@@fictionnerd78 It's true about the pace regarding Helios, Hermes and while we're at it, Hera too, although it still gives me the feeling that Olympus or Greece in general had a very serious Achilles heel regarding its deities, because it's still disappointing that a figure worshipped by the Greeks dies so quickly, especially Helios who was given some importance in Chains of Olympus, practically the whole game consisted of rescuing him, I don't know, it just seems like a waste to me, I like the gods to look like gods in terms of their combat capabilities.
I don't think there's an answer to that about Pandora, perhaps if they said that if she died either by the flame or for another reason the flame would still go out, that would explain why Zeus didn't want to kill her, but it doesn't explain why the labyrinth itself has traps that put her in danger, it's supposed that Daedalus was the one who gave the orders on how to build it and Zeus should be attentive to what they do but no, nothing. That's one of the reasons why I call Daedalus stupid, the second reason is that during the time he was building the labyrinth his son Icarus was still alive, we saw it in Gow 2, so Daedalus blindly trusted Zeus' word, I don't know, something strange is going on there, maybe you have the answer? Because it seems strange to me that he spent an entire decade building the labyrinth with the promise of seeing his son again, when we saw that Icarus was alive all that time until he dies in Gow 2, why didn't Icarus go visit his father in 10 years? Anyway. As for Gaia, I just don't see a coherent answer, maybe it's somewhat credible that because she wanted to fix the problem that she helped cause she didn't want anyone but her to solve it, but the thing is, no matter the reason, it's simply not a good idea to become an enemy of Kratos, as much as she believed that he wouldn't escape the underworld this time, despite the fact that she's already seen him do it on a couple of occasions in one way or another, it's just dumb, I saw somewhere that they said it was because Athena died, that everyone in Greece became dumb and incapable of making strategies, but not even in the game do they deign to make a mention of her death, and how it affected Greece in its own way, as they did with Poseidon, Hades, and even Helios who had died a short time ago, we could see a writing before facing Hermes that said that humanity paid dearly for the death of those 3 but they never mention Athena. And about Hercules, the truth is it was my mistake to mention only him, more than one character in this game is an idiot, not just him, the gods fighting separately instead of trying to kill Kratos all at once, Zeus not killing Pandora for whatever reason, Zeus himself breaking his promise at the beginning saying that they should join forces to kill Kratos, but when Poseidon was being beaten to death right below where he was he did NOTHING to interfere and let his brother die, Gaia letting Kratos fall earning a new enemy, Kratos not using his wings to avoid falling into the river Styx, Hera saying nonsense about Pandora provoking Kratos, Hades blaming Kratos for Persephone's death when it was partly his fault that she made that decision, Hercules bragging and talking to Hera instead of finishing off Kratos when he was vulnerable, Helios lying to Kratos when he couldn't even move after being seriously injured, Hermes provoking Kratos when he had nothing to defend himself with according to him, many of these things can be summed up as the gods being too arrogant and effectively overestimating themselves, but it's still stupid. And by "they thought very little when making the nerf on duty" I mean that it doesn't seem like they thought too much about how to nerf Kratos in a more or less credible way for this game, again, why didn't you use your wings?!

Honestly tho, a reviewer and haters basic thought of God of War 3 being a button masher is a clear sign that, that person didn't play God of War 3 on very hard, a game like God of War 3 that's super easy on easy, normal and even hard(no matter what hard is basic to complete) is only fully appreciated when you seek it's challenge, it's combat is also complex in the fact that it gives off the illusion that it's simple, when looked at, at a broader perspective, it's far from simple, and on very hard, the properties of moves are way more evident, it's one reason why on very hard, God of War 3 becomes a masterpiece 🤯
