Can you do a video on some more helikon tex items like the supertarp or the matilda pack? I've used both for quite some time and they have both held up. The matilda is based heavily off the ALICE pack style, with upgrades like plastic buckles and a built in frame

With all my respect - this thing suck. You need to try Rebel Gears v3 hammock. All seasons, low weight, easy to build
I also use this hammock for 6 years. But beware for the zippers. I use this hammock a lot. And in the night you have condensation just from the air. And that moisture gets the zipper corrotiened. And in time you need to use more force. This is my second one.
The one i have now for 6 years i use a light sillicone based grease on the zippers. Not a lot. But minimal as possible. It keeps the zippers in good health. When someone is using this hammock only a few times a years then once per year is enough. Try not let the sillicone make contact with the rest of the hammock. Only the zippers. After applying then use the zippers a few times for their full lenght.
With the mosquito netting i use a textile piece of tape. Two stripes over where the alu bows goes through. I apply the tape on the outside. Because U.V. will wear down the netting and it gets thinner. So after several years the netting where the poles are put through can tear and break up. I use the tape around the two loops where the poles get through to shield the netting from u.v. light.
Be aware that DD Hammocks does not sell this mosquito netting separatly. When you can not use use the poles anymore to keep the netting up then it has become useless. And you can not buy a replacement. This is a real shortcoming from DD Hammocks.
My first hammock was just two years old before this happened. Sunlight can break down a lot of materials. And the material where the poles need to be put through is not that strong. Protecting the zippers and protecting the loops on the netting is what has saved it for six years with very extensive use.
About to take the plunge and get a couple for me and the youngster. Tired of pulling trailers or setting up tents at Toledo. Been looking at quite a few . Thanks for the review

Another great video Randall thank you! I have 2 hammock systems I use for backpacking around New England. I get my hammocks from Dutchware and my insulation and tarps etc from Hammock Gear. They’re ultralight but so far pretty rugged. Big $$ though …

Great vid as always bud! I have a Frontline XL and love it. Not gonna lie. Would like it longer and wider (I'm 6'5" @270) but it's still great. Got the 4x4 to go with it. Not super light but I'm not gonna hike 20 miles a day. Mostly kayak trips so far.

Wow! I have never been the first "like" before. You did one on this once before, correct? Just with the under blanket? Cool hammock set up. I have looked at the DD website and they do have some nice stuff. I like that hammock. You are doing outstanding work. Appreciate all you do to help us get more bang for our buck.

Looks exactly like the Lawson bridge hammock here in the USA. I bought one in 2016. It is awesome. I made a rather poor video on youtube about it back then. It was stolen in 2018.

Hey Brother Randall. Would love to get your opinion on the DD Frontline version. I understand the DD is from the UK, and I have not seen many reviews in the states on the DD hammock.

I cannot find this hammock except on the dd website. All I run across for sale anywhere is the frontline, not the super light jungle version. Is it not in production anymore or not shipped to US?

I use DD for many years on my adventures. As I do long-distance projects months in a row. The frontline XL is good although I sometimes use it as a bivy as well, this last is not so comfortable but for emergency ok.
Instead of whoops I use dyneema with rope ladder knots, and if you make a knot in the bungees at the end from the poles you can use it as jungle knots.
And to keep dry if heavy rain I put a rain cover from a backpack on the side that is worst. I put it over the pole towards the outside where the suspension starts. Maybe some nice tips for others....

I'm a medium-tall guy at 6'1", and fit. Not a lot of extra poundage on me. Avid outdoor guy doing outdoor stuff. Usually, sleeping in a hammock destroys my spine. The constant curve of a hammock while I sleep can turn me into a broken human. However, I WANT to find a hammock that works to get me off of the ground and out of a conventional tent setup. Any suggestions on this hammock? Lightweight? Check! Bug netting? Check! Spine-friendly? Waiting for your comments, if you get the time......
This one is comfortable. You need to look up laying diagonal in a hammock. You almost lay straight. I like a bit of curve for my back issues.
You know how it is….thinking of changing to a hammock and watched so many vids and some say they are terrible cause of the “banana” shape…..had any issues on the DD?

Nah. Eno junglenest is way better. Built in bug net, just throw a tarp on top. Plus, 400lb weight capacity, which speaks a lot gor it's ruggedness.

That DD green is exceptionally ugly xD That's why I sold my old 3x3 and bought the brown one. I had an older DD hammock, the bivy model, a waterproof version of their frontline hammock.
