Locks are made to be opened, so opening them is just a matter of puzzle solving. Ductape is meant to stay stuck tight, which means you're fighting its nature.
When in doubt, duck it.
I never thought of it as "These are the possible moves you can do, but you need to do it in a certain order." It changed my perspective on puzzles
Yeah it's called troubleshooting. Most problems in life have only so many solutions.
Yes! My method is similar to his for little wooden puzzles they are so fun, but the fact that he laid out the possible moves, and sort of mentally crossed them off, and was left with one move and it was the right one, that was really eye opening :)

Certainly very interesting to see
well, the good vs bad ones. The good ones allow you to most if not all moves from any position, so you know the rules without needing someone or something to tell you otherwise (I have played with metal puzzles which ask you to NOT force the pieces as well as ones which tell you to force them so I just never do them (I have not broken any... 100%).

Wow, that was neat seeing you analyze the puzzle like that and basically solving it without mistakes or guessing. Well done, well deserved drink!
It was pretty linear to be honest.
I'm rubbish with puzzles and I'm bad with strategy so watching him talk through how he identifies the permutations at the start and the sequence of moves is really cool.
Me too. I always thought the @LockPickingLawyer would make a great teacher.
One part of it that he didn't talk through was identifying clearly what the desired outcome should be. In this case, he realized almost instantly that if you can get all the pieces on the string on one side of the hole, the puzzle is solved, so all his permutations are based around that. He doesn't mess around with spinning the bottle, or manipulating the rope. Of course a really devious puzzle would be to include a similar but impossible to solve topographical puzzle, and have the actual solution be, e.g., a secret drawer in the base. So it's important that if you've defined the problem space and none of the solutions are working, to go back to the start and re-evaluate your assumptions.
i would have been stuck for 2 hours trying to get the big ball through the little hole
I genuinely love how the puzzle was made. Felt like a simple yet clever challenge(like the packaging)
