She is a wonderful speaker, and wow, what terrible events they have endured. Really hoping Carly and her husband will FINALLY catch a freaking break. 🩷

I lived on the street for over eight months. I was a homeless person euphemisms don’t make the condition better.

Carly, you look like a softball player! It is funny how we can see certain traits of former passions of people.
Broken ribs? Those hurt, I understand why you were given meds, but an excessive amount for some is fine, for others it isn’t fine.
My first experience enjoying prescribed Hydrocodone was not the first, second or third time I prescribed them. Three various ER visits given an RX for who knows what narcotics. I took them as prescribed maybe for a couple days and that was that.
Well, at the age of nineteen, twenty I had a procedure was given a standard 20 pill vicoden prescription and at that point I had a bit of trauma. My BF who I knew for years and years and we were friends for longer than we dated, had recently passed and I shoved those emotions down. Then I was starting to process the memories of Cho-mo by someone in my household and being angry at my mom for not protecting me, scared to tell (still haven’t told, tried to, she wasn’t about it). They are still together. Also, my step father co-signed for a vehicle but never taught me anything about money, what credit is, what one late payment does etc etc etc but I had a less than thirty day late payment once and one late car insurance payment - which doesn’t change the credit score. Also, I was on their insurance policy but sent my portion in separately. I did not know how to use a check book balance. I did not understand what late payment ramifications actually meant. These financial skills are not innate and are learned.
Well, that POS instead of sitting down and showing me what the late payments meant for both of our credit should we go past 30 days…he made me turn in my car after close to three years of perfect payment history on a four year loan, he drove me to a shady ford used car dealership and did not help me at all. I was screwed. I didn’t know what Apr was what interest was how much my car was worth.
Those asshats gave me no equity in my car although I only owed $2k as the payoff, they took it as a $8k loss added it to a loan for the new car, which was an embarrassing Ford Countour and the price tags was $24k more than my 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse turbo AWD. I was also given a 25% interest rate. I didn’t know but three years of payment history gave me a decent credit score but they preyed upon me. That was his lesson. I was angry. Rage was inside me.
All that said, the vicoden took that anger away, so I kept taking it.
I was easily able to obtain it from doctors 60-80 pills at a time for injuries or pains that didn’t justify it. I was more emotionally addicted as it elevated my mood. Luckily I had breaks and never had an addiction. However, my life is on a different track, but me just like many others could be in this same position. We must stop judging.
All that said, it was a perfect storm to feel the euphoria from the opiates. I remember taking one
