  • Leigh and James make an epic trip in their Mazda MX-5 Miatas to a track day at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales. With Storm Dennis threatening to ruin the whole weekend, they don't know if the event will even run. Regardless, the cars are packed and it's off to Anglesey in the pouring rain as there's a slight chance there might just be a break in the weather.

Why don't you run the ratchet strap through the centre of the wheels?

Great content dude keep it coming. Do those new EBC’s outperform everything you have tried so far? If not, what do you rate as the best no compromise track pad at the moment? I ran Roddisons pads at Cadwell recently and suffered quite badly with fade after 5-6 laps on my mk2.5 brake setup, so I’m still on the hunt for the ideal pad before investing in a full aftermarket setup.

Hawk DTC-30 or Carbotech XP-10 for a no-compromise trackpad. Did the pedal stay hard but have no braking effect, or did the pedal go soft?

@@BOFIRacingTV Nice thanks, I'll give those a try. They just glazed and pads felt like blocks of wood, the initial 'bite's' still there and pedal's still hard but very early in the pedal travel the increased braking tails right off and from there on, no matter how hard you stand on it you don't get any more stop, so to speak. Unnerving when you're right up someone's chuff into the hairpin with nowhere to go 😂

@@BOFIRacingTV It will be interesting to hear how you get on long term with the new yellow stuff pads. I have had several pairs of yellow stuff on both the 1.8 brakes and the 2.5 1.8 270mm sport setup. Bite is pretty good and they don't tend to fade too badly. Trouble is 5 out of 7 pairs have fallen apart after 1 or 2 track days. The pads had about 4mm material remaining. ?Luckily? only on 2 occasions has this resulted in dangerous braking situations. First was approaching lodge corner at oulton doing 120mph, second time was on the road. The remaining times the issue has been picked up is while inspecting the brakes in the weeks prior to next track day. I'm running brake ducting too. As a result, I have lost faith with Yellowstuff pads. Carbotech are meant to be pretty good but bloody expensive. Not tried hawk yet.
