I always lived life thinking that work is the most important thing for happiness and success. I put everything into my work and was always very competitive. After retiring at age 55 in 2020 and taking care of our backyard squirrels since 2019, I have changed a lot too and appreciate life much more. Squirrels and wildlife have a wonderful calming ability and humble me very much. I find they make me happier and a better person, and I don't take anything for granted and appreciate things more. I am happy to hear that you have found a change that makes you happier in life.
