Happy Squirrel Sunday...
Kinda back to normal. Roxanne has mange, and I was able to give her some medication to treat it. Hoping for the best. The little one I got to rehab is doing better, sadly I haven't seen the other one.

Yes, we need the fur fairy to show up. I know that's Roxanne and I still have a hard time believing. I'm just so glad I was able to try and help. @@TheMedvejatnik You really can't, but it's getting colder so the mites might have already died. All you can do is give medicine to the ones that already got it.

There’s nothing cooler than having a squirrel buddy like this. I had 1 years ago and she just made my day! She even came around just to hang out sometimes without me having food. She’d lay on my arm or leg and catch a few zzz’s. I think she felt safe to sleep a bit knowing i wouldn’t let anything harm her.
Rocky and me were getting pretty close. Sadly I haven't seen him since june. But isn't gaining a wild animals trust the most wonderful feeling. Thanks for watching...✌❤🐿

I hope and pray Roxanne gets better and grows some more fur to keep her warm this winter. I was just wondering what the rehabber thinks might have caused this and what medication she recommended. I have seen this and a couple of other squirrels have blisters this past summer and I had given 2 doses of very small amounts of Ivermectin on an unshelled half of pecan on a 7-day interval and it seemed to work with complete recovery during the months of July and August. You may want to put out several strips of micro fleece fabric, so Roxy could take some back to her drey or tree cavity nest to help keep her warmer with she recovers, growing her fur back. Here is another thing I will share with you. It is a homemade recipe I use to give my squirrel visitors for nutrition, built some fat and bone density. It is a modified recipe that I discovered from the woman who has a UA-cam Channel named "Squirrels at the Window" Here is the recipe: Squirrel Food Recipe Squirrels At The Window UA-cam Channel DoughNuts recipe: Ingredients: Ground walnuts: amzn.to/3CPlaJV Chopped walnuts: amzn.to/49Etjzt Kirkland Mixed Nut Butter: amzn.to/3Ld0eBP Squirrel Booster Multi-Vitamin for squirrels by Exotic Nutrition Pet Supply Company: amzn.to/3XyVR6M Squirrel-Cal Calcium Supplement for squirrels by Exotic Nutrition Pet Supply Company: amzn.to/3XvSK1h Mix the entire quantity of ground walnuts(1 pound), chopped walnuts (1 pound) and Kirkland Mixed Nut Butter, and add 2 tablespoons of vitamins and 1 teaspoon of calcium. You can make less of a quantity, but I like to make it all at once and store it in the fridge. My modified recipe: I made another version of this recipe with a lesser final quantity as I am experimenting with the flavor mixture to see what they may like but following the recipe here along with instructions on the vitamins and calcium container labels. I preferred to make a ¼ recipe so I can make 4 batches with the one container of Kirkland Mixed Nut Butter. Once mixed, I put it in the refrigerator to firm up and preserve until I want to give some to the squirrels. You can shape/form this mixture into anything you prefer. I scoop it out from the bowl with a spoon then roll in it in my hand to make ¾-1” diameter balls and put out 10 balls on a plate for each feeding. My ¼ batch recipe: 4oz (112 grams) of ground walnuts or may substitute with hazelnuts, almonds, pecans and walnuts (not to exceed 4oz total of any nut mixture. 4oz (112 grams) of chopped walnuts or may substitute with hazelnuts, almonds, pecans and walnuts (not to exceed 4oz total of any nut mixture. 6.75oz (189 grams) Kirkland Mixed Nut Butter. 1 ½ teaspoons Squirrel Booster Multi-Vitamin for squirrels by Exotic Nutrition Pet Supply Company (Label: 1/8 teaspoon/daily food). ½ teaspoon Squirrel-Cal Calcium Supplement for squirrels by Exotic Nutrition Pet Supply Company (Label: ½ teaspoon/1 lb. food). What happened? Did the babies fall out of the nest or did their Mama get hurt or killed? It amazes me how instinctual Mama squirrels are in cleaning their babies, nursing and inducing them to pee. It is heartbreaking to see this happen and thank you for collecting them and giving them to your local rehabber to get them back in good health. Sounds like she knows what she is doing by giving the little one some liquid food to get it hydrated, then a good bath and possible medication such as Ivermectin. Bless your heart Uncle Scoot 😘🐿❤🥰🙏
I started seeing the two little ones about three weeks ago. I thought that was odd, for I had never seen little ones that small on their own before. I still have not seen the other female that was hangin around. And Roxanne, who now has mange wasn't acting like their mother. We lost her in late Feb. and after her passing I found it very hard to watch. Everytime I tried I started crying, so I stopped. Seeing your comment today brought back a lot of feelings.
