Thank you for your videos, just to simplify, I threw mine away after 4 months of emailing and sending videos.
Did your unit face the same issue?
More than the sellers are complicated and tricky, AliExpress's support stands with them.
Its a PIN that you have to reverse, a sample as that you have to reverse the pin that is for rear reverse sensors, i had the same problem
There's only like three or four good brands Android head. And the one you got is one of the best this is scary. 😳
Thanks for confirm and really sorry for yours bad experience...
Hello from Scotland. Been following you, and I am really interested in the head unit you have been reviewing. How do I contact the manufacturer to see if they have a unit for my 2015 UK Mercedes Sprinter? Cheers, and I will be following with interest to see how the blank screen issue pans out. Good luck Shawn.
So glad you finally dolce your issue!!! I got some question for you, wich version is need to buy to avoid slowness and lag? Then to your opinion can be installed on a fiesta 2009 (the first model with the little red display) ? Thank you very much!!!
This is what happens when you jump into the deep end of Chinese android car head units without knowing what you're doing. I've watched all 3 of your videos and it's clear that you have not done any research when you bought this unit. Honestly I don't blame you for that - people would normally expect a product like this to be just install in your car and it should work as intended. But the truth of the matter is that this is far more complex. There was probably nothing wrong with your unit, you were simply given a firmware update package that was incompatible and that bricked it. All your complaints were very typical of an ignorant consumer who doesn't know how the product works - again, I don't blame you for it. But having used two of these Chinese android car head units for the past four years at least, let me give you some advice:
1. Android is not written to work in car head units. This is why there is something called Android Auto. In order to make Android work, All of these Chinese head units have two parts - the Android part that drives the interface and runs your apps which runs off the main processor, and the micro controller (MCU) part that interfaces the Android to the actual hardware - the screen, dvd drive, radio, DAC, DSP, all the various audio/video input/ouputs.
2. Know what hardware you have: What processor do you have - e.g. PX5 or a PX6? What MCU do you have - e.g. MTCD or MTCE? Different processors and MCUs require different firmware. I've only heard you talk about it's 4GB RAM, and while I agree that it is not much by today's standards, this is the norm for most of these products.
3. Android version: Older units came with Android 8, newer ones have Android 9. The Android OS is usually bundled together with the firmware package. Any change in the Android version (8 to 9 or 9 to 8) also can potentially brick your unit, even if the firmware is for the correct processor and MCU.
forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto - If you are prepared to put in the effort, visit the XDA Android Auto forums and you will find so much information on this topic, you will literally spend days if not weeks gaining knowledge on how these things work, what can or cannot be customized/fixed, and much more.
forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Hui_Fei_Type - This wiki page gives a brief history and some useful tips and tricks you can try if you get your unit working again.
The tl;dr of this is, when it comes to these Chinese head units, it is a little like buying an Android phone. You can either accept how the unit works as it is from the factory, even though there are some small things that you may not like or doesn't work the way you want it to. Or you can start tinkering with the software/firmware, in which case you have to be mentally prepared that you may cause the entire unit to become bricked.
Thanks for the advice!
Yes, I'm definitely in the category of "your everyday consumer" however, I doubt that my complaints are in any way ignorant. It honestly just boils down to 2 complaints:
1) Reverse Sensor:
- Wanting the reverse sensor to work properly - given that they claim it does (and it does... but just in reverse).
- Which then brings up the question: Is this only happening to my car? the brand? the model? or every other car out there?
- Has this feature actually been properly tested? If not, shouldn't there be a clause warning consumers about which feature might not work at all or well rather than a blanket statement that everything works - which can be misleading.
- As I said in my video, I am very well prepared to accept the unit as it is from the factory with all the bugs that come with it. However, the reverse sensor feature was something I particular requested for and confirmed that it was available for my model before buying it - which they claim it is working.
2) Firmware Update:
- Trusting that they would give me a firmware update that they have tried, tested and proven to work. If not, why give it in the first place? Or a warning that the screen isn't meant for updates or that this firmware could potentially cause issues (perhaps this is my ignorance, but requesting for a fix shouldn't be out of the question either)
- I believe if they would have tried it themselves first or gave the advise/warning that this could cause issues, at least that would have prepared me better for the journey that I am now embarking on - which I don't blame them for not warning me... but as a consumer, I do believe this is arguable within reasonable expectation to request for.
Sure, I'm not expecting a 3rd party accessory to work seamlessly with my car... but it is on the sole request of fixing my Reverse Sensor issue - especially after this expectation has been set prior to me buying this unit. If they would have said this is something that could not be fixed, I would be devastated but would have to accept it as it is anyway.
I would love to toy around further with XDA, but I do know my limitations and any form of rooting is beyond me haha.
But all in all, thanks for taking the time to explain and giving your point of view and advice - I'm sure this will be helpful to whoever is watching :)
I know it's quite an old video as well as comments, but I get little frustrated and at the same time I understand your situation. Frustrated because people buy Chinese android head unit and expect to be Apple iPhone with 1 button do it all simplified for everybody, unfortunately that's not the case...
I've had android headunit in my Mazda 6 previously and although it was a bit pain in the backside to set it up root it etc I have managed to do it. I did have to change pants few times during that process especially prior to making a full system backup just in case I messed it up.
On another hand I understand you being upset because if you purchase something that is supposedly made for your car on top of it it says plug and play, well I guess you expect it to be that way...
From what I understand you most likely had a wrong choice of canbus selected in extra settings tab, and changing canbus might have worked out a treat.
Another thing stores that sell them headunits have about 2000 products with just different plasting surround and different harness for selected vehicle. As you can imagine during process of let's say 12 months they release updated hardware new models etc. And when you have 6 different hardware models for 50 different cars it becomes hard to track what exact hardware each unit has especially hard to release update for them....
I personally use XDA developers forums and looks to match everything to the dot like screen resolution, MCA, CPU model etc and only then when I'm satisfied with everything I attempt to update
@Sgt Peppa my personal experience is that they're generally reliable for at least a couple of years, but I cannot say the same for anyone else. The current unit I've been using is at least 4-5 years old and it works fine, save for the mechanism that's holding the screen. But even then, it's not something that cannot be fixed with a little ingenuity and elbow grease.
My advice would be to look for sellers who are willing to provide after sales service or even a local warranty. It might cost you a little more but you're basically buying some peace of mind.
@@ShawnLoong I know it's been long since this video released but my question is this screen auto rotate? Does it support "CAN BUS" so I can control A/C and other functions,? Does it also support multiple cameras for 360 view and blinker triggered videos? Thanks just trying to make sure it's the right one.
did you get a new one? n if you did , how is it working?
It's working again! Check my updates here, fresh out of the oven: ua-cam.com/video/SHNJKiaB3tY/v-deo.html
The second problem with the door open I can slove for you.... I have the same problem.
Just go to the cunbus options where you see all car... and just change it to diffrent option until your slove this problem.
I have seat ibiza and I choose canbus some german model... I dont remember exactly which one... if you wont, I can check tommorow and tell you.
Same problem and cannot find in the settings canbus option qhere shows all the car.. and recently has jammed. Blocked and touchscreen not wanting to work at all
Hey try reset long press first do not remove your hand and turn off and hold while you turn on for 15 s may be that would solve your problem like mine the same unit.
Didn't work 😔

i have mine for 1 year never had any problems.
Can it fit on myvi 2012 ?
@@wanariff7310 I have the same one for sale if interested
Does it fit in all cars??
Hello Mr. Loong, I am looking for a Tesla style head unit for my 2016 Camry, could you possibly give me a couple recommendations?
Hey Robert, currently I've only tried the one you see here in the video. I managed to get it fixed (check my other videos out) and so far pretty happy with it :)
@@ShawnLoong Ahhh ok, thank you Mr. Loong, I appreciate your help...
i have a question i installed the tesla sytle raio but i erase the home boot up screen that shows when i open the doors it shows on the radio but since i erase it ti know longer shows how do i getthat funtion back on th system
Iv seen lots of videos of big head units and no one say anything about it blocking the ac vents.
Haha, was thinking the same thing.
Well I came across two videos saying that
C est visuellement facile de ce rendre compte 🙄
Amazing 🤩
I bought something similar to this. Part of the screen isn't responding to touch. Do you know how to do a hard restart on these units?
There should be a reset button somewhere on your headunit too similar like mine on minute 4:54, thats the closest thing I got to a hard reset
I'll be back once I receive the core board... hopefully. Wish me luck! 😰🥵😭😤
I had the same problem with the Joying brand, I also did a device reset, tried again to update the firmware and nothing.
I contacted them and they said if I could disconnect the device from the battery or from the back for a few minutes and indeed it was disconnected and it worked.
The explanation is logical is how the mobile phones formerly had to remove the battery physically because sometimes doing a reset was not enough, since the device is continuously plugged in at 12V the electronics is still powered and maybe there is something residual in memory or some capacitor is charged and not download etc.
I bought a 12.8 "one from CarBar on AliExpress, I hope it doesn't pass the same.
Try it and good luck. Greetings
@@Motelockon Disconnect the device from the battery make sense... it's weird that they didn't suggest this option to me. I'm going to try it, hopefully I don't need to change the core board after all, thanks for the tip!

Mine did the same thing can you maybe point me where to purchase parts for repairing my unit. The touchscreen was working only half of the unit and then it went all black now .
Sorry, I'm not sure where to purchase the parts. I got mine directly from the seller. Perhaps you can try asking them?
I just saw it on aliexpress.
Man this is crazy 😧
just because your system bricked after system update doesn't mean anyone else shouldn't. Your case was a one off, not after 100 of the same result. The factory is doing the right thing by sending you a replacement. Note i am not criticizing you for reporting your experience, only your advice for never updating a system.
this is one of the reason i hate unbranded android car head unit. i have a sibling who install this kind of huge size screen and it's very fast become hot even the thing is standing in front of the A/c outlet . many times i hve to reset or turn off the device while using the GPS app. it's a total waste of money . thanks for the video. what i thought is correct
I'm not sure what headunit your sibling bought but in all fairness, the headunit died only because of a bad firmware update I got. But ever since I got the motherboard replaced (which the manufacturer sent me one) it's been serving me all good so far. Check my update here: ua-cam.com/video/MGdxH9qMFC0/v-deo.html
@@ShawnLoong i have helped install several in-dash receiver for my friends' car and from my observations the chinese made receiver has some kind of lagging even worse if it come with android OS. i have no such issue with kenwood, jvc, or sony with their own OS
I'm going to buy one but a 6x128gb(6gb ram x 128gb rom) the Mobo, did it have moisture protection? Like a food container with a small breather holes
Add this update on this videos description, so we can follow this rabbit hole you've been thru already
You’re not answering them - then complaining that they’re taking too long to solve the problem that you’re not helping them with at all. “I just need you to fix this issue” What’s your issue, dude?
Hey it's me teddybadie
Wow
So if dont buy android car head unit, i suppose you want me to buy apple car head unit, right?....
Oh i forgot its only for apple carplay. 😄😄😄😄
Please tell me how to update my system
I would suggest not to, based on my experience
