Glad I saw this video. Trying to color in using random black inks is a horrible waste of time. I've decided on Versafine black for water-based and Memento black for alcohol-based markers. No more running ink, I hope. Thank you.
Hi Nicole, yes archival does dry faster than versafine which is a pigment ink. If you want to "seal" it faster you can add clear embossing powder and heat set it.
Your chart is amazing! Wish I had‘ve watched your video before a stamped a bunch of images on watercolour paper with Memento and tried to watercolour which was a fail!!!!!
i have been trying to figure out if i can use the ranger archival on watercolor paper and with watercolors, thank you for the video, i have 20 colors of the archival i found at tuesday morning a couple years ago , so i figured if i want to do a floral stamp and do a "no line" stanped impression , i have a few choices lol
Hi Deborah, you can most definitely use archival on watercolor paper with watercolor. Just make sure to heat set it or let it dry well before starting. When stamping on watercolor paper if you have a Misti or other stamping tool so that you can stamp multiple times if needed that really helps with the more textured watercolor paper. I really like using a light green ink for no line watercolor myself!
do you use a watersoluble ink for no line or archival or another waterproof( once it's dry) ink? i actually made a stamping tool which i love it's got a 12x12 stamping surface , then i bought the TH stamp platform which i found after buying it and using it that i much prefer the one i made ! which probably cost me 20$ to make lol
Hi LeAnn, I have to say that I've been looking through videos to get a good insight into the purposes of each ink. I dabble with lots of different effects and it's fantastic to know which ink to use. I have always used the Versafine black with everything, haha!!. It's very confusing understanding the pro's and con's of each ink brand, so thank you so much for your amazing video. You are by far the best, clearly shown, subtitles great and brief but precise. Good work! :)
You have no idea how much this video has helped me to choose my inks. It seems like the Brutus Monroe is popular as well for copics. TFS this amazing comparison! Laura
OHHH Finally a chart... i am new and it is soooo overwhelming . I am going to tape the property to each pad. PLUS I am going to put in smead self sealing laminating sheet. They are my best friend :)
Holy cow, THANK YOU🤗🤗 I am teaching others and directing their purchases ( me & my big mouth😑) Your chart is just what I have been looking for. Again, thankyouthankyou💓💓👏👏
Is there still a way to get your free quick glance chart for black ink? I tried the link on here but it was no longer available. Thank you! Great video!
Hey LeAnn. I know this is an old video but I had to share with you....have you tried the new(newer) Brutus Monroe Detail ink in the color (it's the only color) of Raven??? I just got mine 3 weeks ago and it seriously is my new go-to ink for EVERYTHING. I have been a long time sss intense black and memento fan but this blows them both out of the water. It is alcohol marker safe AND waterproof when dry like a hybrid but it stamps sooooo crisp! It stamps out similar to the VersaFine as far as detail goes! I'm over the moon about this ink. Sorry for the long rant, especially if you already have the ink and know all of this. PS: I don't have any affiliates with Brutus Monroe , just a super happy customer.
Meghan, I ordered some Brutus Monro Detail Raven and It is equal with Memento for its Ink holding qualities with alcohol markers, great detail but it is not as black? I was stamping on Neenah solar white and did a comparison with the same stamp. Message me if you have different results...maybe my ink pad was too dry? Brand new from them though.
Paper Heart Scissors Hi there I am just seeing both comments! I will do a test of it next to Memento directly to it to see but I definitely did not notice it being less black! I did end up needing a reinker myself. The pad is double felted and supposed to hold the same amount of ink as a regular sized pad, even though it's 2x2. Maybe try storing it upside down for a little bit? I will do a side by side comparison today and let you know when I get home!
Paper Heart Scissors hello again. Commented under the wrong video earlier....sent you a log private message on IG. Also pics of my comparison and for me the Brutus Monroe is much more black than the others. Check out my message on Instagram when you can! 😊
Yes, it is a dye ink not a pigment based ink so it does dry faster than versafine. If you really need to go fast then using a craft heat tool is a good solution.

THANK YOU for this awesome chart!!! By far, you have been the most thorough person who explained the different inks.
KELLY PENA you are so welcome!

No! Where did you order it from. I am still looking for the perfect super black that can be used with Copics. Do Tell...:-)

Thanks for the comparison - does the archival black by Ranger dry quickly (especially compared with the Versafine)?
