I tried all the Canon forums. Nothing worked. But I did your trick, except with a newspaper. I kept pushing every time the rollers worked. Then, once the printer stopped, I pressed Start again to keep the rollers going again. I kept doing this until the newspaper came out the front end. Then I put the real paper in there and, voila! It works like a charm now. Thank you so much!🙏

First step: Just look carefully if some object has fallen in the paper feed and is in the way. I credit you for getting me to just look closer (I feel so stupid). Thanks for posting!

You are a miracle worker! Thank you so much for sharing this! After spending almost two hours trying multiple troubleshooting suggestions from the canon website/online manual to no avail, the temptation to take my machine outside with a baseball bat a la Office Space was ever increasing. Luckily, I stumbled across your video. Immediately after inserting the cardboard, a piece of packaging was pushed out. It must have made its way in our machine during a recent move and was entirely hidden. Powered back on and the copy paper zipped right through! So happy and relieved. Thanks again!

I love you!!!! I have been through hell and back with this printer and I'm not abandoning this amazing printer. This one stumped me. I have the MX922. I put cardstock through my printer thanks to you and it FINALLY dislodged this tiny piece of paper that was torn and sitting in my printer. I couldn't get the side panals off per other tutorials. It's not as easy as they made it look. This cardstock worked!!! Thanks printer goddess!!!!

This is a life saver for me at 11 in the night, paper tray was not taking paper in and I tried Auto Clean with no benefit. Then I stumbled across this video and initiated Auto Clean and pushed the card board in the paper tray, to my surprise I saw a piece of my kid’s puzzle come out of the tray. Thank you for saving my day.

Thank you so much! My aging Pixma 300 has been working fine for a number of years until it stopped feeding paper from the paper "tray". I had tried using a Q-tip and alcohol to reach all of the rollers I could reach, but it didn't change the situation. I had doubts that the cardboard would work, but figured I had nothing to lose. The cardboard eventually jammed going in, but it was long enough to pull back out the paper feed slot. That did the trick! Thank you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I read on a forum that a bunch of people had fixed their problem by turning the printer upside down and shaking it. I tried that but nothing came out but THEN I tried your cardboard trick and was able to see that somehow a SCREW had been lodged in there, so after running the cardboard halfway through I unplugged it and shook it again and the screw came out. YOU SAVED ME!!!!!

I will rarely post feedback in the comments section of a youtube video, but this has really saved my printer. Like magic, after using the cardboard the printer chucked out a piece of tape that was jamming the feeding mechanism.

THANK YOU!!! This totally worked, and I am so relieved!!! One day my printer just stopped feeding the paper, out of nowhere. It would make the sounds like it was printing, but it wasn't pulling the paper through. I tried the cleaning protocols, but nothing was working. I found this video, and was skeptical, but figured I had nothing to lose. I had to apply some significant force to get my piece of cardboard through, but out popped a tiny pebble! We keep our printer in a cabinet and on top of it sits a small handheld vacuum. I think something probably fell out from the vacuum and got wedged into the printer where I couldn't see. I'm so happy and the internet is awesome, haha! Thank you!

I was about to throw my printer away because I had been on the Canon website for hours looking for how to fix the problem and I had watched 5 other videos. Nothing was working. I didn't want to try the cardboard thing because I was afraid it would really mess up the printer, but as a last ditch effort I shoved some through and voila, my printer was working. Turns out I had a strip of paper that was crinkled up inside the printer. Thanks so much!

ohmygod I need to THANK YOU so much!!!!! Like you, I had opened up my printer and cleaned it to no avail. It was working correctly just 2 days ago then suddenly one side of the paper wasn't feeding down. So, in a desperate search for a solution I found this video and tried it as a last resort. Lo and behold a piece of DOG TREAT got pushed out of the feeder area by the cardboard! Now the printer works perfectly! Thank you SO much for taking the time to show this trick. You just saved me $160 to replace the printer.

This was the video that got my hand me down printer on the road to recovery. It led me to find out that foreign objects often fall into these Canon printers. I've never encountered this problem with any other printer in my last 20 odd years of regular printing use! Although the cardboard trick didn't work for me, and you will see why in a minute. I tried for quite a while. Then tried putting my hand in , when I encountered something unusual on one side of the rollers. Then I got a torch, I could see a memory stick stuck in there. I got a hook and went fishing. Out it came. It was a missing work one, now back with its owner. I would say, use a torch first. Then use the cardboard if you can't see anything.

I tried cleaning the rollers as best as I could. Over and over again. I finally came across your video and tried a piece of cardboard and ran it through as much as I could until it stopped. Looked inside and saw there was a popped kernel of POPCORN inside. I have no idea how it got there, and would have never seen it til the cardboard pushed it out. WOW! Thank you sooooo much for this. Much appreciated.

Your printer does not need to be turned on to insert the cardboard. I turned mine on because I thought I needed to clean the roller but after I did that it still would not pick up the paper. So I tried inserting the cardboard while the roller is rolling, thinking it might make the board go though easier...but not really. So don't worry about not knowing how to make your printer's roller rolling. Just force the cardboard in.

Worked!!!! Out popped a nickle! Couple of notes:
    1. Gently use the card board
    2. The cardboard does not go all the way through the machine. You will use it to shove whatever is clogging you machine through.
    3. After the object is out, the machine will start feeding 3+ pages though the machine - blank. let it finish.
    4. Upon finishing, set the machine back to "1" from "b"

Thank you all for your feedbacks regarding this method. :-) It's funny/not funny to read the kind of "stuff" that caused the paper not going through the feeder, that were "pushed out" by using this method,: a Flower Stem. hah! :-). I almost gave up trying but I am glad I did not. So. Try this method when you have relaxed and have some time to yourself. So you won't be frustrated on your first try/tries. :-). So let us know what you found inside the paper feeder that caused the problem. Unless, ofcourse, you found something you did not want anyone to know. :-)

Dang, I'm impressed. I was so confused by the comments at first but this actually worked for me. To clarify, I was expecting to have to clean the rollers since I was getting the paper jam error but there wasnt any paper. Turns out, there was a twist tie inside the printer. To get it out, I just forced the cardboard in while the printer is not printing and for me it pushed the twist tie out. I wouldn't have expected that to be the issue like how would anything have gotten in there, but this video saved us from buying a new printer so thank you.

OMG! This worked for me just a moment ago!!! Not sure who left a 20 cents Singapore coin on top of my printer cover and having not thought about it, I opened the printer cover and before I could even stop, it slipped into the roller section, not visible at all! My thought of THE END of my Canon Pixma MX357 that had served me for the last 7 years depressed me. After many attempts to shake it out failed, including trying tho learn how to take the printer apart, I was about to accept its fate. I decided check out UA-cam for a solution. Among the many videos, I just wanted to try this. Lo and behold! The coin dislodged and became visible. Lift and tilt.
Thank you Lin Young for sharing this!

OMG this worked like magic! I just bought my printer and just a few days after, it kept on pushing the paper to the right side of the feeder and the paper comes out with tore on the side. I was about to have it checked where I bought it when I watched this. Tried it with half the size of the cardboard tho, but voila! I got a one peso coin in there. This really helped a lot. Thanks!

Was honestly thinking some of the comments under this video are not real LOL! But after trying this I immediately found a foreign object inside the printer. Not really sure what it's called but it's like an accessory attached to the zipper so it will be easier to pull, some kind of cable with a plastic on the end, it was stuck in there. I thought it was part of the printer as I was pulling it. But I thought that the first piece I took seems to have been cut already so if it's part of the printer then it's already broken to start with so pulling the other part shouldn't cause more damage than there already is and after getting it pulled my mom identified it as one of the little cables attached to the zippers of the bag. So yeah, thank you soo much! I thought I'll have to spend money just to get this fixed. But your 6-year old video just help me!
