Its been awhile for me but even out side my lead levels did go up get a filter if you plan on doing this more dontforget fishing weights if you into that
@TheRevoltingMan I would say I was getting range scrap and clean several hundred lbs easily then cast bullets lee 105 38 swc can be cast from range scrap was loading 38 for $.05
Great idea. I will say one "Safety Sally" thing, set the kettle aside so it can only used for your freedom recovery process. I speak from watching my granddaughter grab a measuring cup in the Shed I used for measuring insecticide for my sprayer. She was going to make tea for her doll tea party. I put it higher up and drew a skull and crossbones on it after that.
Everyone talks about wheel weights but you don't hear much about lead pipe, and that tea kettle looks like it works awesome. Melting lead over a open fire like that really does have a special quality to it. Almost like being in nature, but its fire and lead.
They got an old gun range in Lafayette Georgia they closed everybody says it's probably got tons of copper and lead that's something you might want to look into gun range
@TheRevoltingMan yeah, I jumped the gun and caught the black powder part later. You should cast some, for black powder, nothing to it. Just get a inexpensive Lee mold and a set of handles and that's really all you need.

Tha k you for the information! I won’t ever be doing this much. How often did you melt lead?

They used a lot of lead around the toilet flange, drip cap about the window and a ton for chimney flashing.
Good Job! I'd use that to cast nice big Fishing weights and jig heads !

Excellent suggestion!
Great little science project with the kids. They now know what melting point is and well soon you can teach them how to form projectiles to hunt with.
Salt from seawater...............lead from a pipe, Thanks RM!
Back in the 70s, a friend of mine used to make scuba diving weights with scrap lead in a cupcake pan.
Wonder if he still does..
Shabbat Shalom

You going live tonight?
I know a guy that used a .32 cal ball mold it is the same as 0 buck in shotgun shells.
I did this to make slugs for the old 12 ga. Fun and cheap.
You said inner Mel, and I thought you meant Mad Max.
I've casted thousands of bullets, you will need some antimony and tin to cast bullets unless it's for black powder.
It would be for black powder but mostly it’s for fun. I’ll never get around to doing it.
