Here are some fun facts about ancient cities/deep dark:
-when a notch apple drop is selected when generating chest loot, it can be 1-2, while all other structures with notch apples generate 1. This makes 2 notch apples in one chest quite common.
-Breaking an activated shrieker instantly summons a warden if u r on alert level 3

If triggering a Shrieker doesn't give you Darkness instantly, it's gonna spawn the Warden. Good tip if you've somehow lost the count of Triggered Shrikes
Pretty sure that even if they don't spawn the Warden, shriekers wait for either "Warden approaches", "Warden advances" or "Warden draws close" sound to display to finally give you darkness

Ancient cities are actually the safest place in Minecraft because the Warden kills all other mobs in the city. You just have to know how far the Warden can hear you.
