Lyrics
I've been holding out on you
I've been talang it slow and tough
'Cause you've got a reputation for leaving
When the loving gets rough
But my heart is reaching for you
And my love is getting stronger
There's an urgency, a need in me
I can't take it any longer
No, I can't wait
Can't wait another minute
For it all to begin
No, I can't wait
Can't wait another minute
So let your love come rushing in
I can't wait, I can't wait
You've been coming on so strong
And I know you've been confused
'Cause I didn't fall so easy
Like the ladies usually do
So here's the answer to your question
I want you all to myself
'Cause I'm oh so good, good for you
No one else will ever do

I'm 45 and these songs just take me back to the 80s when life was so much more simple than it is now. Take me back :(
ill go back with u lol
Indeed I can't wait another minute!!
Trust me iam building the ship of no return into the 80s
Thanks capitalism for destroying everything
51 and I still think of these songs
Who’s listening in 2024?
Being a teen in the 80s was extra fun, this is one of the many reasons why.
I did a essay on 5star for music back in h.s. and I did my research presented my project with so much pride..everyone was doing the usual r and b groups ..but this group was unique and truly talented. As a girl growing up in the Bronx , I learned alot about this group and other black people in the U.K. I was floored that there were other black people like me that had beautiful british accents ..and it made me feel proud. Love this group..always will.
They were the English version of the jackson 5 both brilliant
They were fantastic, sadly underated for their great talent. I love listening to them now and allways will. You greatfull white brother, loved by so many here in the uk
You know that Denise should have left the group after the Silk and Steel. Like Michael Jackson George Michael. Her loyalty was her down fall. Especially after there screwed up there finance's
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As good, if not better than anything else of that time period.
Hi hi, im welsh sicilianliving in Jamaica currently. My musical journey here in Ja led me back to my casette recorder and the sunday charts as a 5 year old. These were my favourite in their time but I always revisited them because of their sheer class. Soul music is illuminating
Can't believe that NONE of their singles got to number 1. What a crime.
Agree they were Gold in the 80s
All the rubbish songs get to no 1.
Love this band still ❤
❤
They were glorious. Style icons. Those tight dance routines. Slick vocals. Just fab.
So true. All the girls wanted to wear clothes like them or Sister Sledge.
This and "The slightest touch" is Five Stars best!
sightest touch (pettibone remix)
is just amazing....
The Choreography in so in synch.
Their best and strongest song in my opinion, and the one that has lasted the test of time best.
Agree. This one stood the test of time. But System Addict was ahead of its time.
A glorious example of the best of the 80s, along with Miami Vice and Beverley Hills Cop
I'm 47 years old and this is one of my favorite songs over all times. Along with All fall down.. all so by Five Star
She has an incredible soulful voice. Love the emotion and the groups harmonies
and sexy
This group deserve much respect #tbt
That choreography is TUFF!!! 😍😍
I still remember the choreography to this song.
They were the best choreographed group in the UK at the time, miles ahead of anyone else.
Stedman Person was the man behind all of Five Star choreography
@@IRON5 Thank you for posting that bc I have always been a fan of the choreography; now I know the creator 💯
@@Beetwixt_N._Janeen2112 My pleasure, glad to see there are still Five Star fans left that really appreciate their music.
When life was more magical.....
Let's see: Deniece did all the lead vocals so loving her voice. Delroy did all the music production which he did an excellent job. Doris did all the choreography which is so damn good! Stedman did all the fashion which was awesome. And Lorraine did all the interviews and she is the sweetest person! This why love this brothers and sisters group!
and it all went wrong when they started to write their own material, sometimes it pays to know your strengths and stick to them, although they had massive hits I feel that Denise is under-rated as a singer and that is unfortunate as she is still amazing today
What it all boils down to is that 5 STARR needs to come back out with a new Album and a tour!! I'm tired of the madness that's coming out today!! 5 STARR WHERE ARE YOU???? PLEASE WE NEED YOU!!!
And Denise still sings today, still have that beautiful voice. Enchanting 💯💖
@@iamtreasured Without her brothers and sisters. Ole girl got some more people in the group.
supposedly! Was Doris ,the choreographer and eldest sister, who would do the interviews
One of the best groups of the eighties , 5 Star, I love this group .
i did like bananarama but i agree these were fantastic
@@diannemyers5322 agreed Bananarama is awesome well
The English version of the jackson five, brilliant
So.... It's 1986 and I'm a Junior in high school in America. I'm home doing my homework and click on the radio to give myself some background. This song comes on and I start to tap my eraser end of my pencil on my desk. Then that hook "Can't Wait, Can't wait another minute" and my legs start moving under my desk. Next thing you know I'm out my seat in full blown dance to this song! I WAS HOOKED! Then I find out this is a group from London/UK?! NICE! Then I see them and their wardrobe was next level! I loved this group forever after that. Long live the legacy of Five Star!
I was in elementary school
they are working that choreography wow...so good
I last listened to this about 30 years ago... and I still know all the words!! :D
Me 2
That's the power of music!!!!❤
Me to😊
Sorry for the repatriation but me to.
Me too. I know all the words
The choreography is on point. Those outfits are true 80s style. Love them!
The shoulder pads on the first jacket are so glorious and overblown, it's so fun
Dorris Pearson was one heck of a choreographer.
I loved this group in the 80'when i was just a little kid! They were from Britain....but us Americans was feeling the hell out of them!"i can't wait another minute",""let me be the one" and "all fall down" are my faves in that very order.I will always love this group!
Tasneem Basit Janet said she was a fan too and that they reminded her of her family.
"Man Enough" was my favorite by them. Such good memories from my childhood & generation. 😊
Our childhood :-)
Agree!!
don't forget about love takes over....
Still sounds great all these years later. That chorus hits hard!!
Fully dressed with real talent
The 80s was simply an overload of talent! Five Star were trend setters, reminiscent of the Jacksons but they held their own!
the sound of my childhood!!!
The sound of teen years
Yes
Me too, so great being young at this time #Memories #80sKid
my view point of 80s like the twilight zone
Better than this day and age.
I'm 41 and loved 5 star as a kid and still do
when music was great and innocent i miss those days :-)
***** LOL right i didnt think like that and i didnt know what they were talking about lol, but i still like the song
***** me too as always, :-)
Yep, now its all trash
Me too!!!
Marvin Santana 😂😝😂😝😂
Singing style is definitely reminiscent of the Jackson Five with Michael on the lead. I loved this group just for that reason. Denise even had on one glove. :-)
Definite Janet Jackson influence
@Juanita Wright I didn't realize that until your comment but it makes sense. Both NE and 5Star were influenced by Jackson 5.
I actually thought that they were related to The Jacksons especially after a word got out that Joe had outside kids..🤔😁
@@lonelyenchantress2172 You're wrong for that! :-)
@@nikkiloveslife4841 she has more range vocally.
They were such a good group and so underrated too in the 80's.
Ivor Williams In America they were very underrated.
+tom11zz884 I agree they're legends outside of the US. Great group
+tom11zz884 Agree 100%
Yep dey had style 2.
💯
The vocals on this are sublime, still as good as the day she first sang them, five star are still one of my favourites
+Barry Cunningham you said she you mean they, The backing vocals-Harmony are tight
I'm 47 years old and this really takes me back in those days of music! Love it so much.
They really need to re-release this as it would knock everything from today into touch. It would rule the charts.
They just didn't get the full recognition in those days, and because most (not all I should say) music today is just utterly crap, that's why we are appreciating bands like this now.
All hail 5 STAR!!!
John Joannou it was rereleased. all their rca albums were
Hell yes! Music then, sublime.
This was their big crossover to the US market with big shoulders and the Manhattan skyline. Big up 5 Star!
Used to listen to this in my Vauxhall nova back in the day I’m 85 now.
This group was the shit back then!! I miss the 80's!!
Wow these are the days when music artist had pure talent, fully clothed, and in their right mind. Unlike the artist today 😅
A little off but talent is still timeless. And Five Star was one of many talented acts in the 80s. And there was another family acts such as Jets.
Love five star. I was just blasting Let me be the One in the ar today. Loved and miss the 80s. So so much good music.
Loose ends is a knitter act I adore. UK
I totally agree majority artist today don't know what hard work is majority Auto-Tune
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sharon Taylor ok boomer
@@iysha42 I was just agreeing with everyone, that's why I was laughing. I grew up in the 70's and 80's by the way 😄 and everyone on this thread is on point 👍
So I literally just come out of the shower. While I was getting sorted I said out loud to myself, What song shall i listen too.
This was selected completely at random. I'd never normally listen to this but it's my best friend Amy's favourite 5 Star track.
Amy died last year of cancer. She was only 38. If this wasn't a sign she was still with me then nothing was.
God I miss you so much. 💔
All these years on I still LOVE this song !!!!!!
Five Star "Can't Wait" was a big hit the moment it was released and plus it was Five Star first mature adult song other than "All Fall Down" songs was more for the teenagers, and even the choreography was more mature and well put together and every step went with the lyrics as well as, the melody/ breakdown of the song. "Can't Wait" was more for the adults and this song is still a Worldwide hit 🎶🎵
I remember these songs from Video Soul....back in the day when I was a little kid. Good times
I used to buy Look In magazine and put their posters on my wall. They were from the next town over from where I grew up - only a few miles, so that definitely helped their appeal. This song is on my playlist, along with “slightest touch” “system addict” and “rain or shine”. It’s almost 40 years! Wow, I’m old haha.
Awesome production, choreography and her VOICE! Wow that breakdown section with the high note ("any longerrrrrrrrrrrrrr") marks her out as a truly great vocalist in my book. Thank goodness I was about in the 80's to soak up the amazing music back then!!!!!!!!!!!!
I look at lot of these classic videos and music and there's always someone that states in the comments that when they were a kid in the 1980s life was simple, but I don't think it really was that, giving I too was a 80s child, I just think it was that childhood seemed simple because if your were fortunate to grow up decent, you didn't have to worry about utilities or rent or work, a job or paying a mortgage, etc, your only concern and social bubble was school and home where you didn't have to think about survival, you just lived, and you had one or two parents that covered everything else and that's if you were fortunate. When you are just the recipient it is a lot more easyer. But music like 5 star made the 1980s a time to feel great at the same time, they have great dance moves and sing great songs and wore great clothes, five star gets a ten 👍👍👍👍👍.
I give this video five stars (for those of us who remember when UA-cam had that star rating!)
Still listern to them in the car takes me back to my teenage years they still sound amazing ❤
Fucking Vocals are Insanely Incredible
So ture..she can sing
And Denise was only 18 singing this lead!
If any one of them ever missed a step,I never caught it. They're choreography is tight! One of the best groups of all time! ♥️
It's just one of those tracks you wanna get up and dance to regardless of age xx
I'm 50yearsold and I still love this group
Love this group and the music. Music today is terrible.
I've been playing these Five Star videos back to back for 3 weeks straight, love it. brings back a lot of memories. Nuff Respect to their Jamaican Father "Buster Pearson" for guiding them through the business. Love Lorraine!!
i used to think these dance moves were the greatest ever!! I'm going to dance to this now. F all haters! haha.
How Five Star fell apart was so sad. We need a revival. We can't wait another minute!
She was truly singing this song with her whole soul and her family was not missing a beat ok👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 yasssss 5Star yaaaassss
Oh man I remember when this first came out 30yrs ago. And remember tryin to do all the steps with them.....

Raises Both Hands😎😎😎
😂😂😂😂😂😂 god yes i did
God yes!!!
Timeless classic thnks for uploading still rocking in 2024
Great music. Makes you want to bust a move.
This song was the closest they reached the TOP 40 in the USA at #41. PITY!! They should have been as big as MJ, Madonna, U2, Prince, Whitney in the STATES!! CAN'T WAIT!!
I am so loving Lorraine's white outfit!
Lorraine was my Favourite
Ceylon M
That shit is tight...ain't it?
The 5 star outfits were goofy...but that white was tight..
For some reason I love to see them dance.
Yessss @Ceylon M! She is Killin That Suit Baby!!!..I Freakn Looooove It!!!
@@honeybuzzard2843 Yes it is.
@@shunnydmiller2553 Yes she is
Man, I loved this song!!! Still sounds great!!!;
Five star you are wicked ,

Five-star took the Jackson pill and took it to the stratespher.love the energy of this band .I'm 60 and can't help wanting to body pop.lol
CTFU!!!!!
Can't wait another minute...sighs brings back the 80s
One of the best bands in the 80s.
Yes, this song is timeless, could be sung in 2019, and in the future too. It is a master piece.
Classic Pop !
I absolutely love this video, and the song. Deniece sung the s*** out of this record.
This group was never underrated. Five star was very famous in the 80s and 90s.
They sang some amazing 👏 😍songs and were no 1. They performed infront of the Queen at awards shows they received awards their songs were allways at no 1.
Their vocals and choreography were unmatched by any other pop/R&B groups at the time, save the Jacksons. Love the music and the guitars, especially the riff @ 3:47 and how they go down on one knee and pop back up-dunno why I love that part so much!
They were Britain’s version of the Jackson Five, and just like Michael, Denise was the ultimate frontman. So poised, so classy, and beautiful, with talent to spare. I bought everyone of their albums back in the day.
Went to see them live yesterday, 29 years on & still doing it. Amazing!
Awesome!
Where did you see them? I bet they was as amazing as ever👍
They were at Cumber Park, Nottinghamshire, UK.
The event is on yearly in August called "Flashback To The 80's"
I'd love to see them again, the good old days eh? Lol xx
+SKYITS 33 years at least since 1st song
This is why I wanted to become a dancer growing up... God I love this group !!!
Natural talent, amazing natural voice, no autotune, wish I had a chance to see them in concert. Priceless.
Gosh so true about the auto tune comment. Denise had pure vocal talent.
THIS WAS MY JAMMMMMM
Haven't listened to this in years and the lyrics are all there in my head. Quality band. Loved them!!
Loved this band. Takes me back in time! Great group.
Boiii am I having nostalgia this evening. Missing my childhood xx
Awesome choreography. Doris. Wonderful vocals. Love them.
Next to the jacksons they were awesome !
They always looked like all of them to me.
they were almost just as good if not better
Better
Come ON...Yah Reaching Now..."
They were NOT better than the Jacksons. if anything, they were heavily influenced by the Jackson's, it's quite obvious.
I wish a spaceship would take me back to the 80's!
You knew it was deep 80s with the shoulder pads. Gotta love it!!
Great band our version of the Jackson five
Damn I can't get over how excellent their choreography was! I love how they paid attention to hitting the accents of the beat.
Definitely one of the most undervalued songs of the 80's. Song should've been a Top-10 hit at the very minimum.
the business! loved me some 5 Star!
Love how they dance
Love this tune ❤
The most endearing sibling group since the Sylvers...with the Jackson 5/New Edition sound.....Five Star! They definitely made their mark.
Denise was the main lead vocalist and dorris did all the choreography, while steadman did all the fashion . They were just amazing my favourites ❤
So many great memories with this group. And the dancing was on Fleek !
Deniece's voice tho! Loved this song and album :)
met her at a friends 40th last year, Tony Irving must have paid a fortune Neil Irving Rowntrees face was priceless 👌
I can't tell them apart
I'm sure you can tell the guys apart. The tall and slim one is Stedman Pearson and he was born in 1964 which makes him the oldest of all five of them. The not so fall but sturdier one is Delroy Pearson. He was born in April 1970. Delroy is the only one whom I read was married with children.
She can sing
Imagine...Had They Come Across Tha Pond...As You Britts Say And Got Solid Production By The Like s Of Say...Teddy Reilly, PRINCE, Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam...Ect...They'd Be Bigger Than...Escape, Total,EVEN... Destiny's Child...!!! But Buster Was VERY Controlling Lic JOE Jackson...Complete CONTROL : {
I love the dance step they performed at 2:45! I'm doing it now! LoL Great music. I wish TVOne's show "Unsung" would do a documentary on them! I would be the 1st to watch!
Me too!!! Love to see them on there; they would be prefect for the show.
I Surg Yes! They deserved to be Unsung!
I Surg Were they big in the US?
I loved this underrated group back in the day, lead singer always reminded me of my girlfriend back then and I didn’t know they were from England till later…miss the 80s
Old school 80's
classic track, and five star could be making a comeback epic win, these guys had some great tracks.you don't get tracks like this anymore, and a good one to dance too.
I haven't heard their music since their songs came out. Don't ask me how I still know all the words?
WHY ISN'T THERE AN UNSUNG FOR 5 STAR. THEY HAD A LOT OF HITS IN THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S. ONE OF MY FAVORITE GROUPS. THERE CHOREOGRAPHY WAS ON POINT
OMG I was 9 years old when this song came out and I still love it!!!!!
+Kevin Scott same here, i was 9 and thought i could dance like them....failed lol
