Jermaine died in 1997. His burial site went without a tombstone or even a grave marker for 17 years, that is until 2014 when a fan anonymously paid for Jermaine to finally have his tombstone. Met him shortly after moving back to L.A. when I finished undergrad. Nice guy. Gave me his autograph. His death sent shock waves through me. RIP Jermaine
Fun fact: this video was directed by David Fincher (who went on to direct Fight Club, Social Network, Gone Girl, Mindhunters etc) it was also one of his very first directing gigs.
The most prolific era in modern recorded music. Vast numbers of independent of record labels gave artist who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to advance their talents. Creatively new music technology made the 80s the best, into the 90s with New Jack Swing. Teddy Riley, a musical genus, was as influential as Phil Spector was in the 60s.
I don't think they'll ever be another 80s when it comes to music. I would listen to Def Leppard or AC/DC with my friends and listen to you everything else when they weren't around because there was so much good music made me become a Professional musician.
Well the earth is constantly spinning/rotating humans gave these rotations a value and divided it into 24 for hours and that's a day. And 365 of these "days" make what humans call a year. Now a year is when the earth revolves around the sun in a complete circle. So these are the reasons it's not 1986 anymore hopefully this helps you. Ps I'd blame the humans for this.
Makes me sad that he's ni longer with us and died in such a lonely and obscure way. I hope he knew how many smiles, laughs, and great times this song brought to so many of us. And continues to. RIP and thanks for everything.
I know, I was a kid in the eighties... Lots of Baseball, grateful to play the awesome sport.... wished I would have taken it to another level.... what am I saying, I did, just did not understand at the time... Such a kid...

The absolute best of pop was 1982 to 1985. 1986 at a push. Dont take my word for it. Look what is still being played nearly or exactly 40 years later. Perfect pop. 10 different genres in the top 10. Jermain crashed in from nowhere with this global banger and to this day nobody ever had cherry wine! God love him tho you couldn’t be gay in the 80’s
Disagree. You're on a nostalgia kick. The 80's music is unpolished & adolescent as far as lyricism & production are concerned. This is a fun song though. I'd take 80's music over today's music too. We go in circles & hit a sweet spot era every once in a while.
@@erickaortiz4385 Only thing you're right that we go in circles, at least we did until now. I disagree completely about the 80's music, you are missing the beauty of it.
I’m 20 years old and I can’t stop playing 80’s tunes😂 beginning to think I’m an old man stuck in a teenagers body. What a banger this is. rip Jermaine Stewart
Mate listen, you're not an old soul trapped in a young body, it's just 80s music is better. This is why new retro wave and all the 80s resurgence music is so massive. Imo the 80s is objectively the best decade we've ever had for music. If you disagree then fight me 😂
You're not an old man, you're just hearing good music for the first time. Alot of the shit that's out now is just that...it's shit. Expand your musical horizons!!! There is so much amazing music out there. The younger generation just seems to be into the whole SoundCloud artist thing. If you found this gem, I guarantee that you're in for a treat. There are so many other great songs. Enjoy the ride.
I remember when I was embarrassed to say that I liked this song or artists, bcuz friends would say or think I was gay, So many artist that I was afraid to show any live. Bcuz of ridicule. Hurts to remember. On a Happy note, when my mother was alive we first thought this was actually MJ singing, what a trip, greetings to all, love from California
Love this song! I was 21 when it came out. I rated it a "B" song compared to the tremendous decade of 80s songs. Now, it beats the hell out of almost anything since the millennium lol.
I went through the UK Top 40 a few days ago and picked some random songs and played the videos. I think I listened with open ears but it was both tragic and boring.
Whenever I hear this song it makes me feel like Jermaine comes back to life for a few minutes to sing and then when the record stops playing, he goes back to rest.

@@paulwidit3792 I did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermaine_Stewart He was hardly a big star outside of the one song. If you ask the average pop and r&b fan, they could not tell you about any song outside of this one.
@@channeling764 True but it is a known fact that outside of Jermaine Stewarts "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off," he had only a few minor hits that cracked the charts. It was at the bottom of those charts. The fact remains that Jermaine Stewart is looked upon as a one hit wonder. There is nothing wrong with that. One hit can make you a lot of money and you will always be known for that hit. I am not looking down on Jermaine Stewart by stating what I did. Fairly or unfairly a one hit wonder is someone who had one really big hit and may have had some minor hits but nothing close to the one big hit they are known for.
@@paulwidit3792 Soft Cell and The Human League weren't one hit wonders either but in America you'd be doing well to find me ordinary people who could name any of their other successful songs. Music fans yes. The guy on the street - no.

Jermaine Stewart had a great, classis song with this one and love the video too!. Tragic his life and career were cut short. RIP Jermaine.

The 80’s were the absolute best
Yes...they were. They live in that piece of me that was fierce, and fun.

1986...why did those days ever have to go?...
Because of new years eve.
Music was starting to suck in 1986. My voice of opinion.
People became cynical in the 90s. Laughing at the 80s became the thing.

Disagree. You're on a nostalgia kick. The 80's music is unpolished & adolescent as far as lyricism & production are concerned. This is a fun song though. I'd take 80's music over today's music too. We go in circles & hit a sweet spot era every once in a while.

@@paulwidit3792 I did. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermaine_Stewart
He was hardly a big star outside of the one song.
